biggest problem is we sat with a back 5 for much of the game - they only had 1 forward so their midfield was allowed to play +20-30 yards further up the park than it should. Add to that Justin and Woolery not being good enough, Mugabi aint a right back we got away wins against pretty poor Liv + Dundee teams. A 4-4-2 with Watt/VV upfront with Goss in midfield would have offered so much more today. If nothing more it will give much better possession and push teams back up the park. That said - delighted to get points as it will breed some confidence.

Glad we won - important to win these games at home. Thought Goss added more value in 20 mins than Woolery offered in 70. I feel for Woolery as don't believe he's a winger and shouldn't be left out wide. Kelly, Ojala, O'Hara, Slattery , Watt all had decent games.

Im not a fan of the same starting 11 as last week. 3 man midfield - against a 5 man Dundee midfiield aint great Mugabi not a right back. Woolery not a left sided player. Frustrating

sounds like a great signing - refreshing to go into Europe and try something different. Depth of squad looks pretty solid now - if we can add any creative players/wingers (or a damn good left back) then job done. BUT do we have enough centre halves now

100% the type of game we need to win. Ideally win comfortably. Still need time to gel - particularly at the back but expect 3 points today.

that's certainly part of the problem. I do like the idea of the front 3 being more central. One playing behind the the front 2 enabling Carrol/SOD to push up on the wings.

the stats suggest VV will score more goals than Watt or Woolery. He looks like an out and out striker to me. Watt sitting behind them would work really well. TBH I don't know what Woolery's best position is. He has pace to burn and looks to have a decent touch, but not obviously a wide player and doesn't have a good enough strike rate to be an out and out striker.

A big 6fit 3in lad who'll play at the left hand side of the central partnership . Good replacement for Lamie who can step in as/when required. Our defence does need to tighten up - fingers crossed this unit can help do just that.

The recent signings give us way more flexibility to change the system. 3-5-2, 4-4-2 could easily be an option. Given we don't have decent wingers we could make more use of our wingbacks wh are both decent going forward.

I agree with your point re being able to bring in decent youngsters and over the years we've been able to do that pretty well. Having players with an affiliation to the club pays off. Guys like Hammel and Lasley found their level at FP and may not be world beaters but they cared deeply and a fan that's what I want more of. Don't need the next Turnbull or guys who get signed for xx million (although thats nice) but players who care about the club. From what I can see on the current front Johnston is the the most likely to cut it. I'd have no issue brining him into the first team and play SO'D in front of him .

I've always liked Grimmy. I'd like to see him in right midfield. he would cover the RB position when the wingback pushes up and give much better balance. With Grimmie, Ohara, Slattery we could do with a really decent left sided midfielder and we'd be decent in midfield.

No, I mean I don't believe many are showing that they're better than what we had. Normally you see glimpses of players being decent and there aint too many signs

Watt and Grimmy made the difference. Got to say it's mainly the previous mgrs signings that are looking good. Kelly. Lamie. Grimmy, Ohara, Watt were amongst out better players. Slattery , Amaluzor both have promise but overall its was previous signings that make the backbone of the team.

Time will tell. It's his second game and the defensive partnership was quite different to last week. From playing with Lamie to having him/Lamie/Mugabi. We either need to play with 3 centre backs and forget about wingbacks or play a back 4. Today we tried a mx of both, which just didn't work. Either way we need a form of stability. But like you said the jury is out.

delighted with the win - it was only ever going to be ugly. We had 10-15 mins of decent play the start of each half today against a very poor Livy team. I don't blame it all on not having the players. The mgr has brought in 9 players and resigned xx amount more. GA needs to take accountability for the style of play + formations + the very predicable set pieces.
