Lafferty is a proven goal scorer but in all honesty I'd find it very hard to warm to him, much like Micky Weir when he was at Hibs, loved to hate him and then we signed him.
-
completely agree with you. Over the last 4 years he's been a great guy around the club but played 3 games in 2 seasons. Its one risk that I don't think we need to take. Also with Lammie, McGinely, Carrol who are all left footed its not a position we need more players (none of them are world beaters)
-
Dunne has a cracking attitude and suspect that's what GA has liked. All depends if he can come back and play regularly .

reports often suggest around 8th/9th. To be honest I would expect a lot of similar (fish) budgets for many of the clubs. Top tier - Old form 2nd Tier - Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs Then it's would be reasonably marginal between the rest . The odd few owner bank rolling new signings or money from transfers would be the key difference , (other than core crowds)
-
thought young McCart was excellent - we could have scooped him up a few years ago and would have been another good young player for us.
-
I was never the biggest Adams fan when he was at fir park - but I was a big fan of his dad - he knew how to spot a player.
-
Be good to land some decent Scottish players. Watt, S'OD for example are reasonably local lads . A few more who live around the area and would stick with us for more than 12 months would be nice - as long as they're decent.
-
Many of my all time favourite Well players were in that squad and would walk straight into our team now. defence - McCart (or his son) Paterson, Nihjolt , Boyd Midfield - Young Uncle Phil, O'Neil , Bobby Russell, Kirky, Dolan, Griffin. Up front - Dougie, Cooper Most importantly "when the well went up to lift the Scottish cup" we were there.
-
Would rather play a back 3 that flips to a 5 when required. Put Gallagher, Magloire & Lamie at the back with S"OD & MgGinley as wingbacks. The 3-5-2 that flips to a 5-3-2 works well for who we have
-
he's just had an op on his shoulder - he'll be back for pre season
-
In simple terms he'll be difficult to replace BUT that's exactly what we need to do. He's our best central defender and he's deserved his international honours. If he'd resigned I suspect we'd all have been delighted
-
Im with you on this and no doubt biassed due to him coming through the youth system. He's got something, pace and decent vision. Not sold we've figured out his best position but like you I think there's a player we could get a lot more from.
-
Not too many that we'll desperately miss. Campbell and Gallagher would have been good to keep. Cole, Roberts, Hastie. Foley are the ones from the list Id consider keeping. Got a soft spot for Hastie, albeit appreciate he's not set the heather on fire .
-
What a cracking player he's been for us over the last 5 years or so. He's conducted himself brilliantly. Although clear that he was leaving there's been no public outreach of "come and get me". It's all be very professional. Wish him the best of success.
-
He always knew where the goal was - he's a natural striker and don't believe he'll ever lose that ability. completely agree about rolling the dice. He's had a tough time with injury. Personally I'd take a punt on an initial 6 months with automatic extension if he plays more than xx games.
-
the cynic in my thinks this is to take some pressure of Glass. He's had a pi55 poor start and they'll be keen to give the Don's fans any bit of good news. It's poor form but pretty much aligned with all nonsense that's followed Gallagher since xmas. His agent could well be behind this.

Best signing/most improved players under GA
wellsince75 replied to Motherwell Daft's topic in Club Chat
GA"s greatest accolade is overall we've started to look more like a team than a bunch of individuals. From the players that walk straight into the team. Kelly - best signing by a distance. Cole - simply being played as a centre forward has got the goals. S'OD - much better pushing forward. Others have improved Lamie , McGinley, Mugabi , Long , Crawford have improved. Albeit I don't believe any are automatic yes's for the starting 11. -
Foley is a very decent player. He's had little air time but has looked excellent and very composed on the ball. He deserves his starting place for the next game. Being 34 is the issue. One thing being a 34 year old keeper but in midfield he's likely to pick up knocks.
-
completely agree and this makes him good value for us. Don't think he'd get a game with a higher level club. If he can keep banging in the goals that's good enough for us.
-
that's a fair amount of reserve football for some of our squad
-
and there ends our winning streak the usual kiss of death .
-
For any player moving on - good luck to them. Wish them all the best for the future and our thanks for 1-2-3-4-5 years of service dependant on who they are. In terms of remaining games we should play our best/hungriest players. If there's any player that GA isn't sure on , fringe players (Hastie/Dunne etc ) be good to see them being given a run out for remainder of the season.
-
he's been more vocal/present on social media that Dec that's for sure. From current team Kelly, S'OD and Watt would all be contenders for captain. Ideally we could bring an an midfield animal to captain us .

If there was ever a year not to win a cup it's this one, albeit would have been better than a kick to ones stones. '91 was amazing. Semis. We were written off as never beaten Celtic in a replay and we know how that turned out. Final. Fans believed that our name was on the cup and sure enough it was. What made those memories was being there. Seeing pyscho's 3rd and then Kirkies 4th was amazing to be in the crowd. In the final I've never seen so many Well fans, the atmosphere was special. One of the best memories I'll ever have as was the following day in the streets of "Well. Watching, shouting at my PC simply isn't the same. My family think I'm a madman and without thousands of like minded guys and girls it wouldn't be the same. Given StJohnston put out Rangers I'd like to see them go on and lift the cup. A group of average players but importantly a very decent team.
