Very much so...it might also allow woolery to have a shot at being an impact sub

  2. Great to get the 3 points but that style of fitba won't get the fans returning game after game, as it was absolutely horrific viewing.

On paper, I think we have a reasonably good squad, certainly good enough to compete with shite like Dundee, but I think the formation we continue to play is hindering us.

Watt is worth his weight in gold for us, he will never be a 20goals a season man, or even 15, but his work rate and his game intelligence is excellent...I'd have loved to have seen him getting more time with Van Veen, as I fear that Justin and Woolery will never do. Lamie and Ojala are doing the basics right and in Kelly we have a great keeper at our level.

The midfield is still disjointed, I thought slattery showed glimpses of his talent and hopefully Goss can add to that as I believe that Grimshaw is never a starter for us in any position.

think I preferred the fake news.

On a serious note at least we're looking at midfielders - what happened to the boy from Leeds - that was more promising.

    Was his name not Gotts?

Maybe someone getting mixed up with Goss?

We may get away with playing 433 at home for most games but yesterday showed yet again that we can't play that system away from home.theres not one area of the team that looks comfortable in how we're trying to play, the defence is horrifically exposed at all times,I can't believe the amount of crosses we let into the box, there's no attempt to even close down, you would think we had quality centre halfs that could deal with everything that comes there way, your told even at boys club level that stop the cross you stop the goal but this seems to be a tactic of ours just not to bother and it's bit us on the arse this season more than once.the midfield is all very rigid,it's three players that basically play around the half way line, the offer nothing defensively or in an attacking sense,I'm assuming that's down to the manager as you would think players would be busting a gut to get forward and it's vital in the formation we play.for as well as we did against hibs, the movement of there front three caused us all kinds of problems because they interchange really well, one minute murphy would be wide the next he would be central, same goes for boyle and then nisbet would drift in a dangerous area, where our three look like there told, your there, your there and your there and we're just hoping something happens, everything is far to rigid in our play and we're going to be far to easy to play against especially away from home.i think we have enough good players to give us a decent season but I just don't see it happening if we keep going with the tactics we're currently using, there's definite tweaks needing done going forward.

  5. I think we need to remember that the team are still coming together...that front 3 have never played together and Slattery is only playing his 2nd game up here, and playing beside a guy who has had a full year out on the treatment table. I wont be making any judgements until we've played at least 10 games.

In contrast, St Johnstone have a settled side and theyve been settled for years now. Wotherspoon, Craig, Davidson, May, OHalloran , McCann all played for them for years and theyve a very settled defence as well. Won both cups and just took a draw away to galatasaray...they're a good side.

That said, I hate the formation we play, 3 up front with no real width and players that dont look comfy playing wide of a striker...the midfield 3 are so narrow and that will only work if the full backs are competent going forward...which I'm not sure they are.

I know where you're coming from but GA has said very recently that he wants to add to the squad to cover for Covid and other eventualities. I reckon we still need another cente back and a creative midfielder, so thats 2 extra bodies. Hints that he's also looking at another striker as well.

I'd be amazed if we sign another central defender...

...Mugabe, Lamie, Ojala, OConnor, Devine are all centre backs to trade...and we also have Donnelly, OHara and Maguire who have player there for us before

Did you see Amalozur and Lawless on Sunday?

    Exactly this...

...I'm not fussed if its him or not, but we clearly need more 'options' at the  very least. The front three were out on their feet and GA was very reluctant to bring the two guys you mention onto the field.

I'd say we need a striker and one or two midfielders dependent on whether O'Hara has a return date.

We should be looking to punt Lawless if at all possible.

Shields is still to come back in...

...but aye, the lack of options off the bench today was probably what lost us that game. No harm to Lawless or Amaluzor, but I dont think either are of the desired quality

  9. Far more positives than negatives from that game today, I dont think we deserved to lose.  One things for sure - we are going to be an entertaining team to watch if we go about our business like that throughout the season.

The referee was pish...but Kevin Van Veen wisnae, what a player we have on our hands, some of the stuff he was doing was absolutely ridiculous

I always have a wee laugh when folk get all misty eyed about Lasley. He very very often went very quiet when things weren't going well. The fact he was so bad at timing tackles kept him up there for a lot of fans.

I should state - I'm a big Las fan. But I never thought he was the vocal presence he needed to be.

    He was rank rotten

Cannae please everybody...I for one am happy to see us allow an away support in, it will make the game much more like a proper event

Looks a solid signing, shores up the back line.

What is our preferred CB pairing? I assume this new boy and either Lamie/Mugabi with O'Connor as backup.

    A creative midfielder now please.

    A midfielder incoming
