  1. I think that’s it in a nutshell, Millers career path has been set for awhile now and it doesn’t include another season at FP. If there had been the possibility he might stay another season then his last contract extension would have included an option for a further year. The fact that it didn’t say to me that Motherwell were told one more year then he’s off.
  2. Hopefully this works. This is what I’ve seen over the last few days, all seems to be speculation nothing concrete - unless we’re doing a Delboy and selling him multiple times
  3. Ok I’m plucking figures out of the air here but £250k to buy plus say £50k signing on fee and a years wage at say £3k per week, £150k, gives us a potential £450k outlay on him. Add the sell on fee and what’s left is not a lot for the club. Keep him a year and if he has a good season we could get around £1.5m. Buying him was a gamble, why cash in early for next to no return?
  4. If the story of him flying abroad yesterday are true then I’d suspect today would have been a look around the club and it’s facilities and talking to the manager today with possibly a medical and scans over today and tomorrow. If all is true and everything goes well then I’d expect something tomorrow or Friday.
  5. Got to agree there, Maswanhise’s second was a thing of beauty but his first was probably more important as it calmed the nerves of the team and took the pressure off for the rest of the game.
  6. I like the possession football but most successful teams who play in also mix it up a bit at times with either long ball’s out to the wings or quick passes through gaps through the centre and id like to see us trying that more. I think the second goal was a result of that (at least I’m convincing myself that or conning myself maybe). Overall a decent game with a good few bits of entertainment, some nice touches and goals - that’s enough to keep me happy. Also I think that teams looking to loan out players might just look at us and JBA’s tactics/coaching and think it would be good for their better young players.
  7. Seen that and thought it was harsh, no players were moving to give him any other option and better to clear the ball rather than end up giving it away in the penalty box. Did the right thing in my opinion.
  8. Kind of agree with you on that, the seeding has seen premiership teams ending up being paired with another unseeded premiership team which I don’t disagree with as it’s a cup competition and that’s how it should be. All I’m concerned with is making it to the next round. Personally I’d rather all teams went into a bowl and it’s the luck of the draw from there.
  9. A well written and thoughtful post, I’m only quoting this part as I see it a different way. That 40% is a 66% increase of the squad that played in their previous games and although it’s all if, bits and maybes but if they had those players available earlier would they have been goalless and thumped? Comparing the two is not a valid comparison. As I said outwith that I broadly agree with most of what you said and I’m glad the fans were behind the team and not abusing SOD.
  10. So in short you’re asking for patience, calm heads and no abuse from the fans? I’m onboard with that but I fear others won’t be. That aside I think the young keeper will get another chance and start again today.
  11. Don’t even know if it’s from an interview, I think he was on bbc radio Scotland sports show on Sunday afternoon and I’m assuming the journalists have all taken what they wanted to hear to suit whatever angle they want to pedal.
  12. I know, was a bit tongue in cheek comment - forget the emoji sorry
  13. Delighted for him good player on his day but absolutely ecstatic for us as there’s now no chance he’ll be back with us.
  14. I don’t us that and probably other also, maybe they should use something else as well.
  15. https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/25287817.motherwell-fans-need-lose-get-rid-urges-amid-new-style/?ref=cprfa interesting read, I agree with most of it but as he says watching the game the other night it was giving me the fear watching how slow the keeper was controlling the ball and then trying to finding a pass before being closed down.
  16. 100% agree with you on that, as I’ve said previously I think the majority of the money will go towards a new training ground but I’d also expect some to be reinvested into the playing squad with the hope of getting someone who we can sell on at a profit to what he costs in wages etc
  17. To my way of thinking we won’t see many, if any, further signings in the next few weeks until the club knows what cash it’s going to receive from the sale of Miller. The club - or the society don’t have a few million stashed away that they can afford to lose if a big money move for Miller doesn’t materialise and although it’s unlikely to happen, prudence is the name of the game. I’ve no doubt that they’ll have spoken with players and possibly agreed verbal terms on the condition of Miller being sold but those players may still sign for another team meanwhile.
  18. For anyone who doesn’t know the game is live on the FCTwente YouTube channel, KO was 6pm. currently we’re 1-0 down and we missed what looked like a sitter and a half.
  19. Those 2 poor lads ain’t going to retire at those prices
  20. Interesting statement mate hopefully it’s true. Rumour I heard is he’s looking to go to Germany, Austria or Italy in that order of preference but no bids from those countries as yet.
  21. I might be wrong but I thought that we agreed not to take compensation when he left in return for a percentage of a future move.
  22. Not aimed at you but here my thoughts. I fully agree that something needs to be done to encourage people to invest regularly if they can afford it but I do have some issues with the proposals. Firstly rightly or wrongly the if you stop paying you lose the right to vote could be seen as a reprisal act on those who stopped paying last year after the (thankfully) rejected “investment” vote, which I hope it isn’t. Secondly as previously said some of the people losing their vote will have paid in more over the years than many of the initial one off payment people like myself who have since paid for season tickets (in my case for me and my daughter - £751 this year- and once she’s earning and can pay her own I will give to the society again as I do passionately believe in it). So as said above maybe a tapering of benefits is more appropriate ie loss of benefits over years 1&2 then loss of right to vote on board members in year 3 or 4 but leaving the right to vote on any major issues that effect the club if the total payments are in excess of £750 or membership has been 6 years or more. One potential way of getting people to pay regularly is by saying new members can get the benefits straight away but can only vote for board members after 1 full year’s membership and on major decisions effecting the club after a further 2 or 3 years. This final part would also hinder any potential future attempt to flood the society with new members to unduly influence a vote in some unforeseen circumstances.
  23. Months ago? I’ve a wife who can go back decades when the notion takes her - or I’m winning an argument
  24. Just reading about that but can’t seem to post a link
  25. I don’t think we own where we train but lease it - or we did a few years ago. I’m sure there was talk before Covid of building on the fields across from where we train now but I sceptical about that as in bad weather it’s always flooded.
