  1. Hearing that a big chunk of it is going to be invested in the women’s team, with the rest being used to make our new away kit…
  2. It wouldn’t be like us to recruit another crock who spends more time injured now would it? Like I said earlier this is isn’t going to be pretty today even against such weak opposition.
  3. We’ll win I reckon but we’ll make it harder for ourselves than it needs to be. 2-1
  4. I can’t deny him that one, but even his Co-commentary that day sounded over exaggerated and pretentious.
  5. He always has been. He has the ‘gift of the gab’ though so people fall for his cheeky chappy, everyone’s pal act. He’s false and pretentious and laughs at his own shite patter. I wouldn’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
  6. It is definitely shite but a sign of the times unfortunately. TV companies know that this is their best way to make money out of football nowadays so it’s only going to get worse. The BBC Scotland channel will be charging subscription fees for their Friday night coverage of the lower leagues within the next few years.

    New kit for 2023/24

Some kits when you see them for the first time online look awful but then when you actually see them ‘in the flesh’ they don’t look quite as bad, sometimes they even grow on you. But not this one. This one is fucking horrendous. It looks cheap, tacky, badly designed and in true Motherwell FC fashion, tries too hard to be ‘different’ for the sake of it. How hard is it to just keep it simple and traditional? There doesn’t need to be a band or a hoop every year, all it takes is subtle changes here and there like the collar, the sleeves, the colour tone, the texture and so on. So many other clubs manage to change their kit every year without deviating from their core home colours and design. Not us though!
  8. Blair Spittal scored for Hearts in a closed door game against Partick Thistle last night. Game finished 2-2.
  9. Wonder how long it’ll take some on here and more likely the media to call him Steve ‘Sneddon’ just like Theo ‘Blair’ and Chris ‘Humphries’ etc. Welcome to the club, great to see another new face in.
  10. That we appear to be keeping him on is a nonsense as he will spend more time on the Clyde 1 phone in this season than he does playing for our first team. You do wonder if our manager and we as a club will ever learn. And I’ve absolutely nothing against Andy Halliday, he seems a good guy and certainly had plenty of ability but he’s almost 33 and can’t stay fit.
  11. No but knowing us we probably will.
  12. It’s all about getting match fitness and sharpness in at this stage so it’s encouraging to see us rack up the goals albeit we can’t read anything into it. The fact that remains that anything other than progression from our League Cup Group is unacceptable and I’d even go further and say that if we don’t make the quarter finals then it also not good enough.
  13. Some encouraging and negative signs from that. Miller did well and we actually looked decent going forward for once but on the other hand we looked as leaky as ever at the back. Obviously pretty difficult to read too much into a game like this but it gives us some idea of where we are at this point. The best thing about tonight was seeing us play in last seasons home strip. It’s just a pity we’re trading it in for a Lidls junk aisle lookalike horror show.
  14. 100% this. If we are relying on SO’D as our main right back/wing back this season then I suspect we will be in trouble.
  15. Great strike from Miller .
  16. They’ll probably recall him in January and send him back out somewhere else.
  17. No it’s Hearts that are in the Europa League Playoff, not us.
  18. I certainly wouldn’t applaud or cheer him if or when he ever turned out against us for Rangers, I just can’t get on board with applauding players playing against us for another team. That said I’ve got nothing against him and Rangers don’t bother me half as much as they do a lot of people so if he ends next season having sat on the bench for the most part but pockets a league winners medal, gets his hands on the League trophy and has the other mob and Brendan Rodgers pig sick then I’ll be very happy for him.
  19. Liam Kelly was a good goalkeeper and a good servant for us during his three and a half years here. When he came at first he was a huge upgrade on what we had at the time and played a big part in keeping us up that season and was excellent for the next two campaigns. His form definitely fell away during last season and I was never comfortable with him being club captain if I’m honest, but he did well for us overall. Best of luck to him at Rangers.

    New kit for 2023/24

The 13/14 away kit we had when Craig Reid scored the last minute winner at Pittodrie wasn’t a million miles away from this tbh.
  21. Hearts are guaranteed a Europa League Playoff spot so our game against them will be the Sunday.

    New kit for 2023/24

That’s something that you’d maybe expect us to do in today’s climate with the cost of living and us making a bigger effort to engage with the support and the town in general. It might not be financially viable for us as I said but asking people to fork out £45/£50 and upwards every season for a new kit is a big ask.

    New kit for 2023/24

You may well be right about that but it’s clearly something that divides the support every year, be that traditional/a wee bit different/completely out the box or the old white shorts/claret shorts/amber shorts debate. It would be interesting though to get a better idea of the general view of the fanbase as to what our kit should be like.

    New kit for 2023/24

I’m sure I made that very point on this thread last year about us keeping the same kit for two seasons, something that hasn’t happened for us since we had the Puma kit of 2011 to 2013 (Michael Higdon’s time to be precise). I know that it’s not just us that change every year nowadays, indeed I think every club does it but do we really need to? Perhaps we do because of the revenue it generates for the club that we couldn’t afford to miss out on and if so, fair enough, I accept that. Maybe it’s a contractual agreement between the club and the manufacturer and again if that’s the case, fair enough. It’s certainly worth asking the question though.
  25. I certainly wouldn’t want Celtic, Rangers and Hearts as our first three games.
