Armstrong and Maswanhise not in the squad today. They both next on the ‘speedy recovery lads’ list? Luke Plange gets his first start Ox makes the bench
-
Have to admit my first thought when I saw the post yesterday was why the awful ‘Jester’ kit rather the 94-96 classic? And why the 95/96 black away kit rather than the Claret with Amber pinstripes that we played against Dortmund in? I’m sure the kits will sell but if we’d brought out both kits predecessors they would have much more popular. I would be happy to pay £100 rather than £50 for the 94-96 Motorola retro.

And well done to him and Rangers too. Hope they go far in that competition.

I’ve said this before about KvV, we got the best of him during his time with us especially in his second season. He was happy, scoring goals nearly every week and playing with confidence. A purple patch for a journeymen? Maybe it was but if it was then what a purple patch it was and we were the ones who benefited from it. He moved on that summer and has never been able to recreate that form and hasn’t settled in a team like he did with us since. Why that is can be down to any number of things but I think it’s safe to say that he was good for us and we were good for him.

That’s a very good post with alot of good points. And you may well be right about politics playing a part in some people’s thinking with regards to foootball. As much as I hate it and don’t get it, that happens in this country and some people just cannot separate the two. What I would say to counter your argument though is that I think there are also some in our support who perceive any criticism of Celtic or someone stating a dislike of them more than Rangers as being pro-Rangers/pro-Union/pro-Orange order and (perhaps most ludicrous of all) anti catholic. I can’t speak for everyone but my dislike of Celtic is based on football, my own experiences of them and the way their supporters act and the attitudes they display. It’s not driven by politics or religion. Finally, while I have to admit that you are very much one of the posters on here whom I base my “hate Rangers more than they like Motherwell” at due to your previous posts about how you were never a fan of Stuart McCall due to your dislike of all things Rangers despite him doing well with us and how you wouldn’t want Barry Ferguson at FP watching a game never mind being involved in managing us, I have never believed that this was down to you being pro-Celtic. I just think some of your posts suggest you were a ‘Rangers hater’ first and foremost and a Motherwell supporter second.
-
My dislike of Celtic doesn’t outweigh my support of Motherwell. If a player or manager is wearing our colours giving their all for us then that’s all I care about. The team they support doesn’t matter. That’s the difference. So, you’re accusing me of being a Rangers fan yet in the very next sentence bemoan that in this part of the world nobody believes you when you say you support a non-Old Firm club?? With attitudes like yours from a non-OF club fan what chance does anyone have?
-
Oh yes they do. It’s a small minority though, granted, but there are definitely some in our support whose dislike of Rangers outweighs their love of Motherwell. I’ve been at Fir Park enough times and heard enough comments about enough players and read enough comments on here and other social media to know that there are some in our support who absolutely DO hate Rangers more than they like Motherwell. Anyway we’re going off topic here so I’ll leave it at that and apologise to the Admin team for the temporary derailment of the thread.

Re: Halliday he definitely appears to have upped his game since Wimmer took over, all of a sudden he is showing more effort and workrate. He did well on SSB last night too so full marks for that. I’ve always loved how he gets up the noses of the “I hate Rangers more than I like Motherwell” section of our fanbase and if he’s playing well that will happen all the more

It would be in true Motherwell fashion if we lost a home game right after winning at Ibrox. It happened last year when we won there we lost our very next game at home 0-1 against Aberdeen.
-
0-1 defeat
-
The (correctly) disallowed goal apart I thought we were pretty comfortable in the latter stages.
-
It can be forty shades of shite for all I care right now Beating Rangers will never not be brilliant. Winning twice in our last two games against Rangers at Ibrox is sensational stuff!
-
Game over
-
Maybe we could try not to lunge into needless tackles inside the box or putting hands up at crosses then we might be able to avoid having a penalty awarded against us?
-
Having a manager whose sole tactic isn’t let the opposition have as much possession as they like and hope for a break here and there is certainly refreshing.
-
If we could just break the habit of a lifetime here and not concede when 2-0 up then it would be magic!
-
No more than we deserve right now but we’ve been here before. Infact there it is. Only one winner now (edit: maybe not quite yet)
-
It was clearly onside there was no justifiable reason to disallow it after a VAR check.
-
The Spinmaster!!!
-
I reckon he won’t be too bothered. He might manage a slight cringe like most people outwith Rangers do but I don’t think it will ruin his day.
-
Balmer in for SO’D Staunch Andy will captain us at his beloved Ibrox…
-
I see we are wearing white tomorrow? Why? I’m sick of us not wearing C&A when there is no need to change.
-
Massive win last night. If we are to avoid the playoffs that is exactly the game we need to be winning.
-
Ah it’s the “Hands across the M74 derby” Having a manager who is an outsider to Scottish football has served us well in the past in this fixture so it could potentially work in our favour. However I can’t see past a narrow loss and another win for Barry’s rejuvenated Gers. 2-1 to the People.

God help us. 🙄
