My point was made in acknowledgement of Miller being replaced, so that’s another signing. I also concede that another centre-forward would be nice, and perhaps a centre-half at a push, but anything more will bloat the squad.
I’ll be content if we don’t sign the extra 2–4 players some are now calling for. The same people complaining about a bloated squad in past seasons are now demanding three players per position.
Longelo looks like a genuine left-back rather than a wing-back, which, if we sign him, strongly suggests we’re sticking with a traditional back four this season. Hurrah.

There are rules and laws in place for good reason. Then there are self-important pricks who go beyond them, make it up as they go, and get it wrong through sheer incompetence.
If the Board really agreed to a £4.5m release clause, there’ll be plenty more clubs than just Celtic interested. The rest is just media and agent noise.
More signings will come with or without the Miller millions. I’m confident we’ll look to build a more balanced and financially sensible squad than we’ve seen in recent seasons. And that doesn’t mean scraping the barrel. It means prioritising quality over quantity.
