  1. The reported £250K fee suggests he was meant to be ‘top level’ for us. It’s all relative. See above. I didn’t say it wasn’t healthy. I meant that it shouldn’t take that to push our expensive signing, by our standards, to prove his worth in goals.
  2. Scott Burns reports that we have at least two more signings on the way, one of which could be winger Regan Charles-Cook.
  3. No need to apologise in that scenario. We just see the situation differently.
  4. Maybe, but Wenger had the privilege of a large squad, which allowed him to take that approach with new signings. We don’t have that privilege.
  5. If a so-called top-level striker needs squad competition plus the time and patience he’s already had to ‘come good,’ then perhaps he wasn’t top-level to begin with. His contract alone should be motivation enough, or maybe he simply isn’t capable of reaching the level his signing implied.
  6. He’s got plenty of support, but it takes more than that to polish an expensive, unreliable turd. As you say, we’ll find out in December whether he’s actually scoring goals or more likely just warming the bench or the treatment table.
  7. As others have mentioned, there’s an international break. With 36 caps already, he’s well used to international travel and the demands of balancing it with his club schedule. International recognition for our players is always a positive.
  8. It’s because he’s shite, but many on here will continue to make excuses for him because ‘effort’ etc.
  9. Increases his value if he does well.
  10. This is what happens when you invite vermin into your home.
  11. Perhaps, but if that were the case, Stama would either be outside the box after dropping deep or stuck on the penalty spot. While his work rate is commendable, it does not translate into the instinct or positioning needed to score goals.
  12. The problem I see is that he is likely to be worth far less than the rumoured £800K by the end of the season. Securing a return on our reported £250K investment now, along with a substantial portion of the remaining £550K, would at least make for a welcome return on what has otherwise been a poor investment and give us a significant wedge to finally sign a proper striker.
  13. If the rumoured £800K offer for a player who supposedly cost us £250K was real, then not taking it could prove to be a very foolish decision.
  14. 0-0. Sign a goalscorer and that changes.
  15. It’s funny how we all see things differently. I thought the delivery to him was fine and he did get chances, but as usual, he fluffed his lines. He also needs to create his own opportunities, yet he’s often a step behind, which means the killer pass is rarely on for our midfielders. In short, he gets chances but rarely takes them, and he struggles to create anything for himself. Regardless of the delivery, he’s not the answer.
  16. Lovely work from Wilson, Watt and Fadinger.
  17. It was clear last season that he wasn’t the answer, yet somehow he’s been handed the number 9 shirt this season.
  18. I’m all for this style of play, but without a proper striker we can’t keep playing like this and expect to win games.
  19. Said was doing well, so I don’t know why he was subbed. Stama, not Maswanhise, should’ve been the one replaced by Osong.
  20. That’s because he’s always reactive, a step behind the play, and never the one making things happen.
  21. We can only hope the calls for a proven, experienced goal scorer are heeded by JBA, because there’s no point putting time, effort, and money into a squad that plays like this without an end product.
  22. Lots of clever set pieces, good movement, and progressive passing in the final third, but once again, it’s our lack of killer instinct and a capable centre forward that’s letting us down.
  23. If we’re in for Bailey Rice, great, but only if it’s with the intention of signing him and not just loaning him.
  24. Right now yes. In time I expect to see Olly Whyte and Campbell Forrest get closer to the first team.
  25. His parent club wasn’t a direct rival known as the rangers.
