  1. My opinion leaves scope for another striker, which I agree we need. Balmer and SOD are going nowhere, unfortunately.
  2. I’ll be content if we don’t sign the extra 2–4 players some are now calling for. The same people complaining about a bloated squad in past seasons are now demanding three players per position.
  3. If we’re making any further signings, it won’t be a right-back. It’ll be an established player to replace Miller.
  4. No. Clyde separates Motherwell and Hamilton.
  5. Paying a fee for an established winger is an encouraging sign that we’ve moved on from the throw-enough-shite-at-the-wall approach.
  6. Elijah Just https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/elijah-just/profil/spieler/485672
  7. Longelo looks like a genuine left-back rather than a wing-back, which, if we sign him, strongly suggests we’re sticking with a traditional back four this season. Hurrah. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/emmanuel-longelo/profil/spieler/504386
  8. We’re playing Carlisle behind closed doors.
  9. Seems like a decent bit of business, especially if he can replicate Biereth’s loan impact.
  10. Adidas kits generally look class.
  11. There are rules and laws in place for good reason. Then there are self-important pricks who go beyond them, make it up as they go, and get it wrong through sheer incompetence.
  12. If the Board really agreed to a £4.5m release clause, there’ll be plenty more clubs than just Celtic interested. The rest is just media and agent noise.
  13. The next off the conveyor belt. Good luck to the lads. https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2025/07/03/seven-academy-graduates-sign-professional-deals/
  14. More signings will come with or without the Miller millions. I’m confident we’ll look to build a more balanced and financially sensible squad than we’ve seen in recent seasons. And that doesn’t mean scraping the barrel. It means prioritising quality over quantity.
  15. That’s just your reasoned opinion versus mine, which is completely fair. Based on your response, my post seems pretty balanced: you agreed with four points and disagreed with five. The idea that views like mine somehow equate to pant-wetting insanity is, frankly, madness in itself. The long and short of it is—and this isn’t aimed at you—is that too many are more interested in posting reductive pish to take shots at anyone voicing an opinion, rather than offering anything constructively critical themselves.
  16. If that’s the case, you could add this requirement: “Do you understand the difference between pissing your pants and offering critique on a fans’ forum?”
  17. If this is you confusing critique with pissing your pants, I dread to think what toilet time looks like for you.
  18. I ask again. Who’s pissed their pants or gone insane? The shrieking from some over fair criticism on a fans forum is laughable. Fans care whether it’s the first game of the season or the last. Plenty of people raised valid points about issues that were glaringly obvious last night. The fact they’ve carried over from last season makes them even more worth calling out, without being labelled an insane bed-wetter for doing so. Many of these people also praised aspects, and almost every one of them avoided direct criticism of the brand new manager.
  19. Who’s pissed themselves or gone insane on here? The over-the-top jibes aimed at those of us who dare to use a fans’ forum to offer balanced criticism and praise of the team are pathetic. It’s a tired, lazy trope at this point.
  20. That’s a bit unfair to those of us who try to offer constructive comments, acknowledging it’s just the first pre-season game but still flagging recurring issues. Without that, what’s the point of this forum?
  21. I’m not going to overreact to tonight’s performance or result, but there are some glaring issues that need sorting: We badly need a proper back-up—or even a replacement—for Oxborough. Ward was poor tonight. We need a left-back who’s genuinely ahead of Wilson. SOD should be shown the door. He was appalling yet again. We’ve still not replaced Casey. Maybe McGhee fills that gap, but I’d still want another option ahead of Balmer. We need a proper successor to Miller. It’s not Elliot Watt or Halliday. Maswanhise isn’t the answer. We need a proper winger. Stama isn’t the answer either. We need a big, athletic centre-forward who can actually lead the line. Passing out from the back? It’s never going to work with this keeper and this defence. And do we even know what our best formation is? Where do Sparrow and Fadinger fit? You could ask this of others as well. On the plus side, a few of the young lads stepped up under difficult circumstances. I thought number 30, Campbell Forrest, was the standout in midfield. And the manager now has a much clearer picture of what he’s working with, and what he still needs.
  22. It’s good to see a bunch of the young lads get some minutes against a quality team.
