The draw is starting now, live on Eurosport for any fellow masochists out there! It will be our 'Bullseye' moment, ie "Here's what you could have won!" as the great Jim Bowen said many many times!! Hope Odense get a group lacking in glamour, cos if they pull a couple of decent sides out the hat it'll be very sore!

Well said Andy, totally agree.

The Main Stand - You Should Be Ashamed Of Yourself!
Yir Elder replied to nethertonwellfan's topic in Club Chat
For me its not enough to simply attend a match to be classed as a supporter. The team NEEDED and DESERVED vocal backing from EVERY Well fan last night, so if people were sitting quietly or getting on the team's back then that's poor form. Everyone is entitled to support the team how they see fit, but last night required a bouncing atmosphere from minute one. Those who opted out, in my opinion, let the team down. If people weren't prepared to roar the team on for a match of this magnitude, then they never will be. -
My vote went to wee Jamie, who had a great game. The 'nalty miss was a shame and undeserved, and if you're reading this wee man, keep the heid up!

Perhaps slightly harsh, given that we don't know the full extent of the club's finances, but its fair to say that one or two extra decent players would've made a huge difference.

Aaaah the Motherwell rollercoaster, such a thrilling yet cruel experience! Once again we had enough chances to get a positive result, but didn't quite have the quality required. The effort was there, and perhaps on another night we'd have scored two or three, but it wasn't to be tonight. I'm more annoyed about another cheap goal conceded though, coming at a time when we were causing problems for their defence. Mind you the heads never dropped and they fought right to the end. We need to be more clinical at both ends of the field though, or it could be a season of 'what if'. The penalty miss was a real kick in the balls, given they were now down to nine men and on the ropes. The ref was culpable for me though, allowing a two minute wait before Murphy was able to take it. That always affects the taker negatively, whereas a quick turnaround may well have lead to an equaliser. Gutted with the end result but not with the efforts of the lads. They gave it their all but just came up short. However, its true to say we may never have another opportunity to make an impression on Europe as we did this season, and in many ways we blew it. So typically Motherwell!!! Bring on the Shellic!

Well said mate, totally agree with you.
-
He is most effective playing in behind the main striker or as an attacking midfielder, so if we can sign him I'd be well happy. It possibly depends on us qualifying for the group stages of the Europa League, or Mark Reynolds leaving though.
-
This could be the biggest game in Motherwell's history, and I am looking forward to the whole occasion immensely. In terms of the team I'd stick with our European 4-1-4-1 formation. We don't need to go hell for leather early on, the last thing we want to do is let a couple in and deflate the whole atmos early. If its still 0-0 late in the game then we can gamble at that point. My team would be: Randolph Saunders Craigan Reynolds Hammell Lasley Humphrey Hateley Fitzpatrick Sutton Murphy It could be one of our best nights, or it could be a letdown, who knows? If we qualify it'll be by the skin of our teeth, so here's hoping Fir Park can be a wall of supportive noise for the lads on Thursday, it could make all the difference. Ach what the hell, let's make it really nervy. 2-1 to Well after 120 minutes then 4-2 on pens!!!
-
Today was a win with no injuries and some players rested ahead of Thursday. What more do we need?!!
-
Ha ha! It feels a bit weird discussing Motherwell potentially rotating their squad!! Get us, with our European involvement!!
-
Voted for The Hump. What a frustrating player though! Some good runs and crosses and even the odd decent shot, but all that's missing is a bit more consistency. Then we'd have some player at our disposal. Thought he was a constant menace tonight, and I look forward to him terrorising their defence next week.
-
Delighted with the efforts of the lads tonight. Looked as good if not better than them for large sections of the game, and only some careless passing has costs us a much better result. Mind you, at 2-0 down and with ten men I'm delighted with 2-1! Yes there are areas we MUST improve on ahead of next week, but we are right in this tie and have a great chance of making the group stages. Not at all happy with the ref tonight, booked our players very quickly yet allowed Djemba Djemba away with murder. We should also have had at least one penalty, seems to be a running theme with us! Great goal at the end though, and what an atmos in The Pub when it went in! Next week should be amazing, canny wait!!

I believe so......

The club is 100% right to adopt this stance. Cardiff are taking the piss by signing Craig Bellamy whilst owing us all that money.
-
I echo those sentiments, have a great trip big man! Sure you'll enjoy it to the full! That goes to all Well fans heading for Denmark, do us proud! As for the game? Any result that gives us a chance at Fir Park will do me fine.
-
Here you!! I hope you're no' tryin' to slag Rickoza's 'truthful' match reports??!!!!
-
His anti-Old Firm stance give him plus points from me, and the match report was very accurate. I do like reading his work, although I don't agree with everything he writes. Mind you, that applies to many posters on these 'ere forums!!
-
Thanks very much mate, I'm sure one or two pubs will be able to show the game now!
-
Difficult to really predict anything about this game at this stage. It could all change depending on the result/performance in Denmark and of course the injury/fitness situation. As regards making changes to the team, if we get through to the group stages we will HAVE to sign a couple more players, as CB will have to consider squad rotation to keep everyone fresh and interested, not to mention keeping us in a decent SPL position. That's for another day though, Killie away could turn out to be any score, but right now I'd probably accept a draw.

Despite all our great attacking play, my vote went to big Randy for some fantastic saves, especially in the second half. Thought Hump was terrific at times too.
-
Overall I felt we played pretty well, and can consider ourselves very unlucky to lose. First half we were vastly superior to Hibs in all departments but didn't get the second goal we needed. The equaliser chsnged the whole dynamic of the game, and both half time team talks. They improved after the break but I still felt it was fairly even. If Hump's cross-cum-shot had gone in we may well have won, but they had some chances on the counter too. Big Randy was superb in goal, his save after the break from Stokes was world class. Yes their second goal was handball, but it was very difficult to spot at full speed, so its hard to blame the officials there. What I can blame them for is the possible penalty for the foul on Sutton, and also for failing to penalise Hogg and Bamba for continually battering big Sutty throughout the game. Disappointed to lose, but not disheartened with the overall performance.
-
Good news! Sounds like a young guy with plenty of potential and lots to prove, so he should do us a turn.
-
Ha ha ha this is completely surreal! I wasn't convinced he was a real player until Monday night, and even then I felt others performed better on the night. However we must trust Craig and Archie on this, as they've seen him for a couple of weeks now. It does have the feel of Abel 'Flask' Thermeus all over again, but then again he could turn out to be decent. Remember how long it took Ports and Jukey to win the fans over, so you never know. I imagine its an inexpensive gamble whether it works or not. Good luck 'Gloria'!!

We seem to be lining up in more of a 4-3-3 come 4-5-1 so far this season, and unless we sign anyone before Sunday I anticipate the same tactical formation. My team would be: Randolph Saunders Craigan Reynolds Hammell Lasley Jennings Hateley Humphrey Murphy Sutton We should be hard to beat, and if we can keep a tight rein on Stokes, Nish and Riordan then we can win it. I'll say 2-1 for us with Murphy and Sutton on target.
