  1. The fitba authorities in this country seem hell-bent on imposing stupid, pointless and expensive rules on its member clubs. This latest one is completely unworkable and probably illegal too, should clubs challenge this ruling if/when it goes ahead. I assume neither of the bigots have this problem, otherwise it wouldn't even be up for discussion?!!!
  2. It is a superb record, especially when you consider that we've kept 8 clean sheets in those 13 games!! Mind you, we could do with slightly improving our home record under Craig and Archie, which stands at 5 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats, with only four clean sheets and no wins in our last 5 at Fir Park. All in all though its a very decent return, and one which if replecated this season should see us in the Top Six again come May.
  3. Great stuff, a win and a clean sheet too!
  4. I expect it to be a tight game, it usually is with them. Team wise I reckon Gowser will get a start on the left with Hump continuing on the right. If that happens then one of the three centre mids will drop to the bench, probably Hateley but then again, what do I know?!! Any win would be great, and if we get it it'll be 1-0 or 2-1.
  5. I reckon it'll be a six-month deal with the option of an extended contract if he proves himself and his fitness.
  6. Absolutely delighted for Crags. He is the consumate professional who gives 100% in every game, and wears his heart on his sleeve. Yes he has his limitations, but what he lacks in finesse he more than makes up for in endeavour, experience, organisation and honesty. He sets a great example to any young players and I wish him well tonight.
  7. I kinda wish it was until the end of the season, otherwise we may have to spend January trying to replace him if he choses to move on. Still, it increases our creative options for the next five months, so very happy with the signing. Good luck Gowser!
  8. Would we be able to sign a loan tomorrow, or would that only apply to loans between EPL and lower league clubs in England?
  9. Well Stewart Kerr rates Hollis, so that's good enough for me. Hope Mikey Fraser does well too, shame it never worked out for him. Now, hows about some players coming IN?!!!!
  10. Good to get some more youngsters out on loan, gets them some good experience.

    Russell Rodger

Very sad to hear this news. Russell was an absolute gentleman and was always very helpful in any dealings I had with him. My thoughts are with his nearest and dearest. RIP Russell.
  12. A home tie freebie for us financially stricken season ticket holders please! Plus a tenner to get in for everyone else, the club HAVE to do that this time as a reward for us forking out £50 each for the three Europa League ties. As for the opponent, Brechin are the obvious weak link in that list, whereas someone like QOS, Ross County or Raith could upset us. Keen for a decent cup run, its been a while.

    Celtic

Lasley covered every blade of grass and walks away with my MOTM.
  14. I can understand why some folk are criticising the team for a disappointing performance today, but that only highlights how well we have been doing. To under-perform as we did yet only lose 1-0 to a dodgy penalty perhaps shows that we aren't that far way. Yes the lads did look a bit tired today, perhaps if we hadn't been playing that mob we'd have made more changes. Injuries to Hammell and Jennings didn't help either, severely restricting our opportunities to make tactical changes late in the game. Going forward we offered very little, and despite Shellic having plenty of the ball we defended in a very organised manner. It was going to take something special, lucky or controversial to overcome us. Being one of the bigots the controversial option was chosen! To me Maloney is looking to go down most times he has the ball. He did it within 5 minutes on the edge of the box and then with 19 minutes to go to effectively win them the game. I know it, so do all of you guys, so how come refs never penalise him for diving? Its pretty pathetic that refs are still conned by the wee wank. Still, not too despondant. If we can add some creativity to the side we'll do okay. The two week rest will help, although hopefully Hammell and Jennings will be okay. Onwards and upwards.
  15. I think the main point Netherton Well Fan was trying to make was EVERY Well fan had a duty to be more vocal and supportive than usual, given the magnitude of the match. On that point I agree with him. Its not a case of "I'm a better fan than you" as far as I'm concerned, no-one has the right to claim that. However, if some Well fans were unable to raise their usual noise levels and have passion for a huge game like that, then perhaps sadly they never will. Its just an opinion, and I stress that its no more or less valid than anyone else's.
  16. Once again Jay hits the nail on the head, well said mate.
  17. Assuming no-one has left or arrived I reckon we'll make one or two changes to freshen things up for Sunday. Jennings will return and I'd have Lasley on the bench, seeing as he put in a real shift last night and will be knackered. Up front I'd probably put Sutton on the bench, as he missed the Killie game with a virus so two games in four days might be too much. I would start Fitzpatrick to give us some extra legs in midfield. So this would be my team and formation: -----------------------------------Randolph---------------------------------------- Saunders------------------Craigan------------Reynolds----------------------Hammell --------------------------Jennings-----------Fitzpatrick----------------------------- Humphrey--------------------------Hateley----------------------------------Murphy ----------------------------------Blackman----------------------------------------- Subs: Hollis, Sutton, Lasley, McHugh, Forbes, Page, Casagolda Any positve result will do me, be it a win or a draw. We are capable of getting something, it just depends how both teams react to going out of Europe. More often than not catching either half of the bigots on the rebound is a bad thing, but maybe not on this occasion. I'll say 1-1.
  18. The draw is starting now, live on Eurosport for any fellow masochists out there! It will be our 'Bullseye' moment, ie "Here's what you could have won!" as the great Jim Bowen said many many times!! Hope Odense get a group lacking in glamour, cos if they pull a couple of decent sides out the hat it'll be very sore!
  19. Well said Andy, totally agree.
  20. For me its not enough to simply attend a match to be classed as a supporter. The team NEEDED and DESERVED vocal backing from EVERY Well fan last night, so if people were sitting quietly or getting on the team's back then that's poor form. Everyone is entitled to support the team how they see fit, but last night required a bouncing atmosphere from minute one. Those who opted out, in my opinion, let the team down. If people weren't prepared to roar the team on for a match of this magnitude, then they never will be.
  21. My vote went to wee Jamie, who had a great game. The 'nalty miss was a shame and undeserved, and if you're reading this wee man, keep the heid up!
  22. Perhaps slightly harsh, given that we don't know the full extent of the club's finances, but its fair to say that one or two extra decent players would've made a huge difference.
  23. Aaaah the Motherwell rollercoaster, such a thrilling yet cruel experience! Once again we had enough chances to get a positive result, but didn't quite have the quality required. The effort was there, and perhaps on another night we'd have scored two or three, but it wasn't to be tonight. I'm more annoyed about another cheap goal conceded though, coming at a time when we were causing problems for their defence. Mind you the heads never dropped and they fought right to the end. We need to be more clinical at both ends of the field though, or it could be a season of 'what if'. The penalty miss was a real kick in the balls, given they were now down to nine men and on the ropes. The ref was culpable for me though, allowing a two minute wait before Murphy was able to take it. That always affects the taker negatively, whereas a quick turnaround may well have lead to an equaliser. Gutted with the end result but not with the efforts of the lads. They gave it their all but just came up short. However, its true to say we may never have another opportunity to make an impression on Europe as we did this season, and in many ways we blew it. So typically Motherwell!!! Bring on the Shellic!
  24. He is most effective playing in behind the main striker or as an attacking midfielder, so if we can sign him I'd be well happy. It possibly depends on us qualifying for the group stages of the Europa League, or Mark Reynolds leaving though.
