Obviously the 1991 Cup Final and Semi Final, along with Easter Road 2005 are rightly regarded as historic matches, last night was just incredible and has got the whole UK talking, and it aint often Motherwell do that!!
-
It still doesn't seem real almost 24 hours later! People will be talking about last night's match for decades to come, it had everything you could wish for and even more. It was the the 'roller-coaster-est of roller-coasters' as Fatcalf might say!!! Defensively it was horrible at times, but you can say the same about Hibs too. Some of our attacking play, whilst borne out of desperation, was wonderful, and the never say die spirit speaks volumes for every single player at the club. I know a number of fans left at 6-2, and it is hard to blame them in fairness, but those that remained stuck by the team and created a wonderfully passionate atmosphere towards the end of the game, and what a reward we got! Gutted for Forbesy with the nalty, glad we equalised for his sake as much as my own! Sure we have plenty to work on ahead of Sunday, but who'd bet against us clinching 4th place now? Proud to be a Well fans all the time, but particularly last night!
-
So many attacking heroes in the second half, with Lukas, Sutton and O'Brien pushing us on. However, my vote went to big Giles who, apart from his goals, was superb throughout.
-
My point exactly. The extra bodies helped create the atmosphere in the last 20 minutes, so from that angle it also worked.
-
Nice thread MJC, couldn't have put it any better myself!! Feel really bad for Forbesy though, poor laddie was gutted. Glad we equalised for his sake, or folk would've gone to town on him. 25 minutes remaining and we're 6-2 down, so to get a draw is absolutely incredible. Its the best roller-coaster anywhere, being a Well fan!!

We couldn't really ask for more could we? To finish 4th in the SPL and qualify for the Europa League all we have to do is win our last home game. Everything is in our hands ahead of tomorrow night, now whether that is a good or bad thing no-one knows yet! The players will be up for it, we have to be up for it too. Plenty of positive noises from the stands from the off, get behind the team and roar them to glory. We can do it, but it won't be easy, It worries me more that Hibs have been shite, but disregard all the negativity. Let's back the lads for the full 90. Motherwell 2 Hibernian 0 and its Europe here we come......again!!

Saunders gets my vote in what was a fairly limp and lifeless team performance.

Its difficult to know what to say about this one. In the first half we were doing okay, we passed it around and made a couple of chances, whilst not looking in too much trouble defensively. After the break the early goal set us back, and although we were still in it I felt we lacked urgency, passion and belief to take something from the game. it was there for us if we wanted it, but for me we didn't show the necessary battling qualities. The late collapse was very poor indeed, and will make that lot think they're great, but it was our sloppiness that cost us big time. We will be hugely culpable if goal difference costs us a Europa League place. Mind you we have it in our hands. A win on Wednesday and fourth place is ours, simple as that. However we will need to battle harder and work our bollocks off for the full 90, as although Hibs have been shite they will see this as their lifeline. We can still do it, but the improvement from yesterday has to be marked.
-
Supposedly they will rest some players ahead of the bigots derby on Tuesday, which will hopefully work in our favour. Here's hoping its guys like Keane and McGeady that miss out! Its just a pity that we will still be missing Ruddy and Lasley, although the media won't refer to us as 'under strength', only the home team of course! We need it more than them, and I think we'll get something. They were lucky to beat us when everyone expected a reaction after the Ross County game, so with nothing to get excited about I am fairly confident we can do something, providing we play well of course! Same team as last week, and at least a point.
-
Obviously the 8-1 win over Flamurtari is going to be everyone's favourite because of the margin of victory. For me however it was the style of our play, the quality of our goals and the sheer pleasure of seeing a very young Motherwell team totally dismantle the opposition with such flair, verve and panache. Both home performances against the Gers were excellent too, plus the wins at Killie and the Jambos.
-
On a positive note it will hopefully ensure a larger crowd than expected, given we got less than 3600 for the United game. The team could really do with a larger more vociferous support behind them, and now's our chance to ensure it happens. Well done MFC, now its up to us fans to make it work.
-
We're only giving the lad a trial, as we've done with a number of players recently. Its good management to keep our options open, and we do need a natural right back in the squad. For me this says nothing either way about Hateley's situation.
-
Aye, the boys have done superbly well, huge credit to them.
-
Its probably best for him that he moves on, he needs to play regularly. If he does go he leaves with my best wishes and thanks for his efforts. His injury time equaliser against Shellic in December 2006 and the opener in our UEFA Cup qualifier against the Sheep in May 2008 will live long in the memory. Good luck Dazzler.

My vote went to Forbesy's goal at Perth. We were sitting near the front at the far end of the stand and had a great view of the ball heading in. It was a wonderful strike and is worthy of the GOTS award.

Season Ticket Holders In For Nothing At Parkhead ?
Yir Elder replied to Lee Murrray's topic in Club Chat
Whilst we as Well fans are due something for having to fork out for an extra away game, as far as Shellic are concerned it aint their problem, which is fair enough. A compromise could be cheaper tickets, let's say about £15, that would be a decent gesture. Sadly I can't see them doing anything, as they don't have to. With that in mind, the crowd should be around the 20,000 mark, tops. -
That was indeed hilarious, bet he was a crabit git all night too!! As regards the game, superb! From minute one it was clear we were up for it and dominated the Jambos all over the park. Okay the goals were scrappy but so what? They all count, and we did play some lovely fitba that deserved more reward, but I'll take 2-0 there every time! The whole team did their bit, and we're now in a great position to make the Europa League again, which would be a fantastic achievement.
-
Delighted with the win obviously, but really pleased for Fraser with the clean sheet. Mind you, it could all have been so different has we conceded from his handling error early on, but credit is due to him for a great recovery to deny Obua. From then on he was fine, didn't have much to do in fairness but he was solid enough with the little work he had. Well done Mikey!!
-
No failures in the side yesterday, but my vote went to Giles, who was for me outstanding.
-
No chance! We're not in a good enough position to throw any game. We'd look stupid if we did lie down to Shellic and Hibs beat the Jambos as we'd drop to fifth! How is that an advantage to us??!!!
-
Team wise I reckon Ruddy, Crags and Las will be last minute decisions. I'd start the Duke for this one as this is vital for us. I don't care how we play, as long as we get a result. I think we will, 2-1 for us.
-
Totally agree! Let's cheer him on at Swinecastle on Saturday, roar our support for him and try to help with his confidence. It might just help you never know.
-
Its nowt to do with the SPL, it was a Police decision apparently. Sensible too, where were all the corporate folk going to park before the game for example? It makes my blood boil to see that auld fud Walter bleating about Gers supposed fixtures imbalance, he should try ours for size!!
-
This is entirely fair comment. Its not his fault McGhee offered him a reported 2k a week pre-contract, thanks for that Dingus! All we can do is hope he does okay in whatever games he features in before the season's end. As regards him leaving, who will offer him a better deal than he has here? No, I think we're stuck with him for another season, although it should be as number two.
-
Steven Saunders got my vote. Looked very assured in both positions.
