  1. Cracking covered terrace behind the goals, with the now defunct prison behind that ........ thus the Jail End
  2. Have been to Victoria Park several times, including a Motherwell game when Backpass was in charge. It has seen considerable development in recent years, (2 new stands and a youth academy), but I'd hate to see them forced to develop the Jail End, not sure if this is part of the plans. They have lodged a request to initially share with ICT, and could well attract bigger crowds than their neighbours. VP is fairly central to the town centre, as is the train station. Closest pub to the ground is the Mallard, (right on the station platform). the High street leads from here with 2 hotel bars at that end. Fancy a posh overnight stay, try the Tulloch castle Hotel.
  3. I hate Cliche's, but one game at a time has to be the approach. Sod Utd and Saints, it's what we do that counts. They'd just love to be in our position, but they aint, so lets get 3pts on Sunday and take it from there. Go MFC
  4. The one against Livi was out of this world, until the Duke's it was the most amazing goal I'd seen at FP.
  5. Did you get your bike Jim ???

saw you in Holborn the other Friday. was that your Banchory Hunting Jacket you were sporting ???

  6. Brilliant ....................... but someone needs singing lessons
  7. Indeed, the sale of St John and Pat Quinn funded the building of the new stand ................... albeitnot a very popular move amongst the Well support at the time.
  8. Thats Davie Watt right above the H in Hay, and it looks like a very young Dougie Whitelaw to his left. Directly above them in the white T-shirt is Kenny Hamilton and to his right is Dougie Sommerville. At the backin the middle are the German Branch MFC Supporters !!!!. several other recognisable faces there but the names have gone in the 30yrs since. Definately Tynecastle, and I'm guessing the 1-0 end of season game that kept them in Div-1, followed by my scariest ever moment at a football match.
  9. In 2012 It shouldn't come to this ..................... but sounds like a decent proposal. Plus, the Cops used to block off Knowetop Ave at Dalzell Drive. Why not do this again, stop the vermin coming down from the South Stand ?
  10. Sorry folks Thought I would get more bites, but fair play to all
  11. Ooober Ooober important to take 3pts, (and no red/yellow cards), from this one.
  12. I'd rather have Hearts and utd at home, and if that meant Saints away then so beit. Split the Moldeez home/away and that woukd do me.
  13. I think it was the early 60's, (hopefully someone can confirm), that a storm caused severe damaged to the original covered terrace roof. The storm damage was so severe that the floodlights on the top were removed and part of the roof up at the South Stand end was so badly damaged it had to be replaced with the structure we see today. It woud now appear that corrosion has set-in to such an extent that NLC will not renew its safety Certificate at the end of the season and unless a new roof is fitted the Shed will be condemned
  14. I can remember when there was less than a dozen of us on the terraces, surrounded by over 25,000 bigots ........ then the fence went up and things got slightly better, our numbers topped the 100 mark, (who can forget being 2-0 up in the mid 70's, only for several thousand maniacs in royal blue to invade the pitch, and when the game was restared we conceeded 5 !!! ) I can recall being told to leave the ground, with 20 others, by OB when Ian Clinging and Pettigrew spoiled their title winning party. Its 2012 FFS, surely embracing the support of one fan for life is better than selling one's soul to several hundred WATP merchants for one afternoon !!!!!!
  15. Do the Club not realise the negative impact this has on its own core support ? Is the extra revenue really worth the disenchantment of its own fans ? Many already stay away from Old Firm games as it is.
  16. Samaroff McLeod, Carson, Paterson, Boyd Russell, Lambert, O'Neill, McAllister Cusack, Arnott
  17. Cheers for that Killie1965, (the year you won the League at Tynecastle - that must have been good). Some very humbling comments on the Killie forum.
  18. Billy Brown, and I think wee Billy Campbell went on to manage Accies or Airdrie.
  19. Well 4 Europe, it's a Motherwell thing ....... underperforming on the big day/when the chips are down. We have a history of it, and I've seen it way too often for my own good. Yesterday and 15 days ago being 2 of the more recent such occassions. Dundee Utd and St Johnstone and Hearts are hitting form, and with our inability to beat the Mold Firm so evident, our run-in contains a number of crucial games. We are in a wonderful position, one not witnessed very often, and with an 8pt advantage 3rd place is ours to throw away ........... and that I sincerely hope we do not do. Well 4 Europe .............................. hopefully I'll see you in Europe, and I'll buy you a pint
  20. Was a potential CL place at stake then ? If your answer is No, then so is mine mate I'm afraid.
  21. Indeed, but we aint performed in the pressure games, and we have 7 of them on the bounce now !
  22. imho the best signing pound for pound that this Club has ever made
  23. Provided we get past the hazerdous prospect of ending up in the middle of nowhere 2 or 3 times !!!
