They rated Ross Stewart highly too and he's just had a 24 goal season and led Sunderland to the Championship.

Robinson might as well set up his office under our main stand.

I collated the MOTM results and, using a pretty simple formula (3pts for winning, 1pt for coming second in each game), the results are in: Fourth: Bevis Mugabi (16 points) Joint Second: Tony Watt (20 points) Kevin van Veen (20 points) Player of the Year: Liam Kelly (30 points)

It's a good plan when it works. When it doesn't work, we end up with 9 fit players in December and Lamie playing at left wing-back. A fine balancing act for a club with our relatively limited resources.
-
TBF the fairness and accuracy of the MOTM polls on here are skewed by people who think Maguire is mince, O'Donnell is useless and Slattery is never a player.

Andy Ritchie is still probably the best free kick taker I've seen at Fir Park. Just edging out Cooper. The 2 step run up to the ball was the biggest distance he covered in a game, right enough.

You have to hope Ojala was carrying an injury in 2022, because I can't remember seeing another player who was that slow.

Maybe I'm over optimistic, but I expect to see that style change next season. I remember GA saying he originally tried to implement a style that was playing out short passes from the back and transitioning through the thirds - (aye, I said "transitioning through the thirds") - but had to give up in that because the players couldn't handle it. Of course, I think he overcompensated and started to rely on Kelly's long ball distribution and we ended up at the other extreme. Now he knows who can handle the tactics he wants to play and who couldn't cut it I'm hoping we see a marked difference. As for Maguire, he's an academy trained, 2 footed midfielder that can pick a pass, tackle and has a decent shot. He's suffered a bit during Covid due to lack of U20/Reserve games when he's not been in the team, but I still think he's a player. In fact when we play 3 in mid, I still think Slattery, Goss and Maguire give us the best balance in there.

Give St Mirren's current transfer policy it's more likely the Daily Mail heard Robinson was interested in Davis just assumed that meant we must be interested too. I'd be more interested in McAlear, tbh, but of course it all depends on who else will be joining/leaving and who's available.

What's French for "touché"?

Every player at every level has brain farts. When you're a keeper they are most obvious as they typically result in conceding a goal that people remember. When you are a defender they are pretty obvious and can result in a goal that people remember. When you are a midfielder they rarely result in a goal and people rarely remember. When you are a striker you miss a scoring opportunity and people forget. In recent Liverpool games I've seen Alexander-Arnold, Robertson and van Djik all have brain farts, but I wouldn't be against any of them in our defence.

Wouldn't the players that sign PCAs just get snapped up at the end of the season by the same teams anyway?
-
I think tactics definitely played a part in our defensive woes, along with the fact that we never seemed to be able to field the same defenders in consecutive games for continuity. I quite liked the back 3 strategy we used with Carroll and O'Donnell as wingbacks, but doubt that is in GA's plans for next season. On the Grimmy front, also sorry to see him go and hope he finds a regular starting spot with a new club. Always seemed like a positive asset around the club even when he wasn't playing.
-
I don't even know why PCAs exist. If you want someone in January, pay for them and take them in January. If you want them when their contract expires. sign them after their contract expires The rest is just unnecessary complication.
-
I think that's the plan. We'll certainly see a smaller squad next season, so hopefully a bump in quality.
-
That might well be the case, but they couldn't start any sooner than they did and it's such a big undertaking it wouldn't be a surprise if it overran by a few days or more. There could be a Roman village underneath that pitch.
-
I don't know if the pitch will be ready, but I can't imagine anyone at the club letting our players anywhere near that plastic pitch Airdrie play on.

Record reporting that Rangers are looking at bringing in Kipré as a defensive option in the summer.

The prices are up on the official site here - still not the easiest to navigate.
-
I heard the club isn't selling tickets to fans who said they didn't want us to qualify for Europe or who said they'd rather watch us play in the Betfred Groups* So there will be plenty to go around. *why are you looking down here? Do you really need me to say that's not true?

Robbos boy is just excited because he gets a tenner discount on the early bird special for his Young Adult ticket.

I invest lots of money in my predictions so I can get a massive tax break. I'm really in the non-prophet business,
-
I usually give up reading this thread over the summer and just rely on official announcements instead. But here are my predictions: There will be some players staying on that some want to punt. There will some players leaving that some want to keep. There will be a few signings of players we've never heard of. Some of the new signings and loans won't arrive until we're a few weeks into the season (that will freak some out) Cheers Nostradamus

You need a title something like "19 Incredible Ways to Chill out This Summer. You Won't Believe Number 12 is Even Legal !!!!"
