  1. Take your pick from this week's "How can we still be in the chase for Europe" extravaganza...
  2. Got the outcome right, just the timing of the jammy goal was wrong.
  3. It's already got the feeling of a jammy late winner for Utd. against the run of play.
  4. I hope so, but based on recent performances I expect to see the "cross the ball to the first defender" stats take a spike.
  5. I think you're confused about the difference between an individual player and a team. For example, in Faddy's 2002/03 season, he scored 19 goals in 34 appearances and won Young Player of the Year. We finished bottom of the league that season and only avoided relegation thanks to the seated stadium situation at Falkirk.
  6. The real story of the season so far (at least for those of us that can only watch the streams)
  7. The more I see Gallagher the more I think we got his last good season out of him. Whatever defenders we bring in, we need players that can stay fit. Continuity is especially important in the defensive unit and we've really struggled this season to field the same back four in consecutive games.
  8. I went for Slattery. I know he has no chance of winning the vote, but I think we always play better when he is in the team (and I didn't want all the votes going to Kelly).
  9. I think the guy I voted for should be POTY, but Liam Kelly will likely win it.
  10. I see St Mirren are continuing to spread their scouting network worldwide and are looking to sign Trevor Carson.
  11. That's often how form works though. We weren't the only team struggling to pick up wins. That's why we made it into the top 6 and why there is only 1 point separating 6th and 4th. One or two of those struggling teams will put a mini-run together. Most of the same players were responsible for our better form in the first half, so it might be us that improves.
  12. No harm done this weekend as the top 3 teams all won. If we want to contend for 4th or 5th this is the one that will do us most good to win. Let's see who steps up and who consigns themselves to the summer clear-out list.
  13. The larger squad this season was an intentional strategy to deal with the potential Covid infection and isolation issues. Hopefully that won't be required next season.
  14. After days of consultation I agreed to move this poll forward to Saturday.
  15. He must have the best league record against Rangers for Motherwell managers in the past 20 years or so. Even so, I wasn't expecting anything from this game, and didn't even bother getting up early to watch the first half.
  16. Who'd have guessed we'd go on to lose against Rangers after they went down to 10 men?
  17. I'd imagine our club didn't have much choice. Football sold its soul to the TV companies a long time ago, and if they are happy to move it, we basically get zero input. There isn't a club on the planet that wants to kick off at noon or 12:30pm on a Sunday (or a Saturday), but we are subjected to them every weekend. Doncaster wanted it moved. Rangers wanted it moved. Sky wanted to televise it. Game over.
  18. I liked big Chas - especially when he played more centrally. Good in the tackle. Not so good in the pass, but fine when he keeps it simple. I prefer tackling defenders over the flashy wing-back type, but I'm old-school.
  19. Good point. And McLair was Director of Man U's youth academy for a number of years before his brief stint as National Performance Director for the SFA.
  20. New no 2 at Old Trafford. New COO at St Mirren. Manager of Belgium national team (currently ranked 2). We're just a conveyor belt for top class coaches.
  21. Maybe some people will be happier if we have an extended run of 8th and 9th place finishes and annual Betfred fixtures against Queens Park. I'll take the top 6 finishes and Euro games every season.
  22. Maintains or improves the country's coefficient which determines how many club teams they can enter into the European competitions each season, and at what stage they enter. Details here if you need some sleep. Bigger payout to the associate clubs from UEFA via solidarity payments (worth £210k to us last financial year). Doesn't mean to say I want them to win, but any and all Scottish teams doing well in Europe does bring benefits.
  23. I always enjoyed a McGhee press conference. Full of entertainment value.
