  1. I thought, overall, Beaton was OK. Given the needle in the game I was happy that he was able to keep control without flashing a red card (which I was expecting). The biggest difference between him and Collum - which was especially obvious watching the stream - is that he was chatting to players with a smile on his face at various points during the game. I also think he cut Watt and Brown a bit of slack because he knew they were mates winding each other up.
  2. I assumed he bought a ticket given he was a spectator at Van Veen's goal.
  3. I disagree with that. They created one good chance early in the first half, and I'm willing to put that down to our new combiniations in defence taking a few minutes to get up to speed. After that, and especially after we scored, I didn't think we allowed Aberdeen anything much. The defense kept things really tight and only ever offered longer range and restricted sights at goal where the only option available was to hit it straight at Kelly. They didn't have their shooting boots on because we took them off.
  4. A natural striker would have done that instinctively, but no real complaints for me on that miss. It came at chest height pretty quickly.
  5. Doesn't do it for me for some reason. If the black trim was broken up (as if it was an Adidas stripe) it might do the trick.
  6. Be a miracle if this game ends up 11 a side. Enjoying the needle, though.
  7. If Watt keeps missing those chances he's a banker for a Scotland call up...
  8. I thought McGinley was OK last season, but really struggled in his first few games this season. Hopfeully, that was just him taking a little longer after pre-season. Doesn't appear to be much between the two teams at this point, and would not be suprised if we pick up all 3 points. The winner coming from a penalty when Gallagher fouls Watt. I also hate the international breaks, and miss the days when players would play club football on Saturday, a Scotland game on a Wednesday and back to their club games the following Saturday.
  9. His crossing is better than any other right sided player in our team and something I think we've missed since he's been out. And he's got a decent shot on him too. For Scotland, he's not as good as Robertson or Tierney, but he's much better than some make out. I agree he switches off at times - that, however, can be applied to just about everyone in our team. My main point is he's not the useless numpty some make him out to be. And when we have players like Gallagher, O'Donnell and Kelly getting international recognition while playing at Fir Park, it can do us nothing but good when it comes to attracting new players.
  10. He plays just fine for us too. It's just that when he joined the club, some fans immediately decided he was useless and will never change their mind. Despite a few dodgy crosses last night, he often hits quality balls into the box and that is something that Grimmy (and Mugabi) don't offer.
  11. Plus 12 of those caps were won while playing for Motherwell - which equals the record for a 'Well player, apparently.
  12. Clarke builds his teams on the basis of being difficult to beat. The fact that O'Donnell was his man at Kilmarnock and that he is better defensively than Patterson makes it likely he will continue to be first choice in most games. To keep things in perspective, Patterson (who hasn't made a league appearance this season) had a decent game against a team that just lost to the Faroes. I don't doubt he'll be a key player in future squads, but not yet.
  13. We'll be needing a more defensive line up in the Austria game. Not sure Patterson is the man for that. Of course, I'm not even sure O'Donnell is fit, so he might be out of consideration for a starting spot.
  14. At least we're guaranteed a massive boost in Tony Watt-age.
  15. People younger than me (and you) that consume all their UHD streaming content (from Netflix to Twitch to TikTok) on their phones.
  16. If you want to see how good vaccinations are just check when the last case of smallpox was recorded.
  17. "Well you found the notice didn’t you?" "Yes. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet, stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'".
  18. Nobody is forcing anyone to get vaccinated. It's not a basic human right to get entry into a football match any more than it's a basic human right to smoke inside the ground or a basic human right to drive to Fir Park if you don't have a licence. It is a basic human right to not have people put your health at risk because of their personal choices. It is a scientific fact that people choosing not to get vaccinated are prolonging the spread of the virus, increasing the chances of mutation and extending the need for all the protocols we all have to deal with. There is plenty of law that surrounds human rights that goes back centuries. They all say basically the same thing: "Liberty is the power to do everything that does not interfere with the rights of others: thus, the exercise of the natural rights of every individual has no limits save those that assure to other members of society the enjoyment of the same rights.” tl;dr "Your rights end where mine begin"
  19. It seems pretty feeble and pathetic to me, so there you go.
  20. That will be to mind-control the fully vaccinated fans.
  21. The best thing about Roberts is he is an actual wide player. So won't have to compromise putting a central forward out there.
  22. Earlier in the month I read Hearts were looking to sell him to one of the English clubs that were allegedly showing interest, but they "wouldn't be difficult to deal with". I guess none of them wanted to pony up.
  23. They certainly have previous shambles experience with Covid protocols.
  24. Covid protocol related reasons for O'Donnell.
