A Mess of the Blues.
-
I thought it was maybe one of those time traveller photos you see on the internet. I can't add anything to the white shirt mystery, but the "borrowing it" seems the most likely explanation. I wonder if someone like Davie Hay would remember.
-
Also a puzzle is why the date under the Albert Kidd photo says December.
-
In the 80/81 season, the only other team I can think of that might have clashed is Berwick Rangers - but the change kit rules were a lot more relaxed in those days. I honestly don't remember if we wore that white Adidas more than once, though. The Utd game is a standout largely because of how well we played against a very good side.
-
Happy to see the 1980 Adidas one make an appearance. We won that leg too, then Utd - according to Jim McLean, himself - robbed us in the second leg at Tannadice.

Even in this world of fake news, conspiracy theories and social media rumours, this story became "fact" in double quick time. (I don't really care about his real or imaginary contract negotiations, btw. I'm not exactly Jimmy Reid, but I have no problems with any worker negotiating employment terms with their bosses. And the club obviously wasn't unhappy about either, otherwise he wouldn't have kicked another ball this season). Gallagher's form had dropped slightly at the start of this season, but that put him in good company with literally every other player in a 'Well shirt. In the future, however, if anybody ever again asks the question about why our better players don't get international recognition ahead of guys in the English League, or are upset that a player from Dundee Utd commands a transfer fee 5 times bigger than anything we ever manage, just point them back to this thread. The way fans talk down our players - including one who was instrumental in securing Scotland's place in the finals - is quite something.
-
Sounds like you agree with exactly what the guys were saying in the video.
-
Would have been more surprising if Gallgaher had started given his lack of first team minutes in the last few weeks. I'm not a fan of starting players in the international team that aren't starting in their club team.
-
Presumably the lights from Morrison's car park aren't sufficient, so they need to finish before it gets too dark.
-
I believe the streams we use are the BBC feed, and it's a 3rd party platform that hosts them. So not sure we have much to offer except Jock, Lewis and maybe Kirkie.
-
My 2 predictions: - After a tight first 10 minutes we'll win our tie comfortably - We will not win the cup
-
When you see the reactions on here any time a manager gives an honest opinion about players, you can understand why they stick to manager speak. Plus, at this point, it's counterproductive to slag of anyone in public.
-
Kelly's contracted until 2023 at QPR, so unless they are feeling in a charitable mood, I can't see that becoming a permanent move.
-
Be even worse when we win the final in a empty Hampden...
-
While I think that's true to a large extent, Randolph's track record since leaving us (over 225 appearances in the EPL and Championship) shows he is one of the better keepers in that category.
-
I don't disagree - but still better than the options we had at the time. Purely on the basis that it's much better to play defenders in their natural positions, I think he was a decent signing. I expect he'll move on in the summer and I expect we'll sign a decent replacement.
-
O'Donnell is a natural right back and far better than the other options we had in our team at the time. The fact we were able to pick him up on a short term deal when we were struggling to fill that slot was ideal. He is definitely in the modern full back style, though, where it's more important for him to be a wing back with crossing than a full back with tackling. Not my preference for a defender, but that's more the fault of the modern game than O'Donnell's. I'd much rather have a guy that tackles and covers first, but I seem to be in the minority with that view these days.
-
Salford's biggest issue with managers is the ownership team made up of footballers that can't keep their hands off. Scholes seems to be the worst offender. (Well, that and the fact they think their big spending should be getting quicker results).
-
As far as St Mirren are concerned, we've played them 5 times in the league in the last two seasons. Won 2, drawn 2, lost 1. I'm not too galled by that.
-
Presumably we need to keep ourselves involved in the Cup to avoid 11 and 12 day playing gaps.
-
Right now we seem to be in a "two or three decent performances followed by one or two poor performances" mode. That should be sufficient to see us safely through the remainder of the season in readiness for the The Great Clearout. The enforced layoff certainly didn't help as historically we tend not to perform well after those. Post-split, however, that won't be an issue and I think we will do OK. I'll be delighted to see Killie disappear with that pitch though as win, lose or draw there, it offers zero entertainment to the paying fans (home or away).
-
While it takes a few windows for a new manager to completely shape a team the way he wants it, I get the feeling Alexander will be pretty ruthless in the summer to get what he wants as his foundation.
-
Aye, that'll it be it. he certainly won't have had any actual facts or information to base it on. It's his first time at Rugby Park and he never talks to any of the playing or background staff.
-
Killie have the stamp of a Tommy Wright team now, just bodying us off the ball whenever they can.
-
Eh, no - Jock Brown mentioned before kick off they reduced its width today (by 4 yards).
