Looking at the Norwich and Celtic games today, I know who I'd rather be playing for.

A wee bit harder than it might have been, but even when Hearts are struggling they are still capable of making it difficult to win at Tynecastle. Given how we are often off the pace after an international break, very happy with the result.

High press has been really effective again this half. Let's see if we can keep it up for the full 90 mins.

That's why it's an interesting experiment to watch him rather than the game. I guarantee he does more than you give him credit for.

I hear people saying that, but I don't think it's completely true. Just for kicks, I watched him off the ball in the last couple of games and while he's not a rugged tackler, he does track his man and often does enough to interfere with him to stop progress, disrupt his pass or make him turn back. Even if he did none of that, though, he should still be in the team for his on-the-ball contributions. On a different note, the Evening Times says Sloth is "in contention" for this game.

Donnelly and Campbell are hardly lightweight. I think there's a bit of revisionism going on here. It wasn't that long ago the same theory was being applied to Accies at New Age Douglas Park, but that midfield prospered there. The last thing we want to be doing is start dropping our players that can pass a ball. If anybody wants to watch that kind of game the Rugby World Cup is starting soon. We lost the last game against Hearts because 11 out of 11 players failed to perform. I don't think that will happen in Saturday's game.

I don't think O'Hara has played 1 minute of competitive football this season - I'd be surprised to seem him start.

Based on every other player I've seen come up from England, he'll need another 6 weeks to get fit.

Watched the game on a dodgy Croatian stream. 1 - 0 down at half time, but did well to come back in the 2nd half and nick it right at the end. Another half decent squad that our system will ensure never quite translates to the senior team.

I've been saying we need an overhaul for years, but it's never going to happen. The entire system exists for the short term gain of Celtic and Rangers. If there was ever any doubt about that, Rangers staying in the league after administration/liquidation (and worse, many in authority wanting them to stay in the top division) should have proved it. There are too many chairmen and board members around the country who either support one half or the other of the Old Firm, or believe they are dependent on them for survival. As neither team cares about the development of the domestic game and even less about the international game, nothing will change unless we ever get rid of them from the league. It's ironic that coaches from around the world come to Largs for education, but we refuse to implement the lessons that are taught there. Other countries have shown it's possible to successfully overhaul a failing system, but we don't have the vision or ambition to tackle it.

My point is that anyone we put in that team right now looks out of their depth. Even Robertson looked clueless, and I'm pretty sure he does OK with whatever wee club he plays for these days.

It's a steal, but also a risk - albeit a small risk from what we have seen with Turnbull. He hasn't played a full season in the Scottish Premiership yet and it's not unheard of for a player to have an outstanding year when he's 19 or 20 and then disappear off the radar. While I have no doubt Turnbull can perform at a high level, so far he's not had the chance to prove it. (Turning down a chance of EPL football also raises a legitimate question about confidence to play at that level). Fraser on the other hand has proven EPL ability and experience. The money paid in England is ridiculous, however and the billions generated is mostly spent on players rather than improving the experience (and prices) for fans. If you divide any transfer fee paid by an English club by about 10, that is the realistic fee you can expect in Scotland. If he does maintain his form and rate of improvement, he could easily be sold for 20 or 30 million to an English team in a few years time. That is why we need to get the add-ons built in to that transfer.

The biggest issue these days is that every player who pulls on a Scotland jersey immediately expects bad results and poor performances. Even guys like Roberston (who is on the FIFA Player of the Year list) seem to lose the ability to retain possession or find a man with a pass. It's going to be a long process to rebuild the mentality required to perform at that level. The U21s are a bit better, but their last qualification for any tournmanet finals was also back in the 90s I believe, so they aren't exactly overflowing with players likely to make a big difference in the senior team.
