  1. Then that's a hell of a salary he gets for reading the press releases.
  2. I sound like I'm defending everybody, but I'm really not. I have just worked with various businesses for long enough to parse the exact words of press releases. I have become familiar with executives' BS over the years and the coded messages they send. In this particular instance, Doncaster never said that the clubs had voted for it or even approved it. All he has said is "they, in principle back this being taken to the next stage". In my experience, "in principle" are weasel words for no agreement on any details has been reached. We also don't know how many stages there are. For all we know they have agreed on 3 or 4 of the 6 issues up for debate and 2 are still wide open. That is why we need to hear the cold, hard facts from the club and not some media spin from the guy who is trying to hold onto his job.
  3. Aye, the same news outlets told us that Sevco would definitely be in the SPL and then, later, that they had a deal to be in the First Division. Far too easy to jump to conclusions, especially based on Doncaster's ramblings. Wouldn't be the first time he had jumped the gun.
  4. What he said was "The SPL clubs have been clear today that they, in principle back this being taken to the next stage." "in principle back this being taken to the next stage" isn't even the same as "in practice back this being taken to the next stage" and implies a number of potential caveats and/or conditions. It is a long way from "all clubs support the proposal".
  5. I take it you weren't around for the Sevco discussions?
  6. I agree. But for now, apart from a news report that claimed all SPL clubs "backed" the new changes, I have no evidence one way or the other that we are to be consulted on the proposals prior to an actual vote.
  7. I'll wait to hear about any actual votes that have (or have not) taken place before I pass judgement. However, the point of the Well Society is to build up membership so that we don't need to be consulted - because we will then be running the club. If it turns out decisions were made behind the scenes then, for me, that makes it even more important to increase the membership as quickly as possible and have those shares transferred as quickly as possible.
  8. We never used to win televised Sunday games either. Until we did.
  9. Number 1 rule in football: Never believe a single word an agent says. Also, end of January is a week away.
  10. Is that the ex-manager whose future is under review by the board?
  11. Agreed. Looked a wee bit rusty at times, and played well at others. Probably didn't deserve to be 3 up, but of course, other games we play better and lose. Very happy with the result.
  12. Ah, sorry. I have everything possible blocked on my browser so don't see any problems. http://atdhenet.tv/59281/watch-motherwell-vs-stjohnstone should work too, but I'm sure there are plenty others.

  14. Mind this is the same Dazzer that said "Jennoe" would be stuck on the bench at Coventry - and he has made 25 league appearances already,
  15. Assisted by the guy that canny cross a ball.
  16. http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/164355/1/watch-motherwell-fc-vs-st-johnstone.html in case anybody was looking.
  17. You can run it with the right app (such as Photon Flash Player)
  18. Not 'Flow's fault - it's the company offering the service. Their email address is enquiries@matchdaydigital.co.uk if anybody wants to suggest alternative platforms (although I'd be surprised if they weren't working on that already as it would increase their market)
  19. Aye, but the fip side of that is that we had his services for 11 years, and in recent times in particular, his contributions have undoubtedly helped our financial position. Probably more than if we he sold him 3 or 4 years ago for 300k or whatever. As a club, our biggest hurdle is our complete lack of credit facilties. So 125k in the hand is more valuable to us in cahsflow terms. We have also gone through a period of not selling anyone - which has helped the team continuty, but wrecked our business plan of selling one player per season. We supposedly knocked back 175k for Henrik, so it hasn't been a case of bending over every time someone waves a wad.
  20. No idea. East Stand has been my spot for 44 seasons (although less often now, obviously). Always been a hotspot for the verbals, often before a player kicks a ball. Classic hits include "Ye cannae tackle, McAllister", "Yir too slow for this game, McLair" and "McLean Out!"
  21. Done deal apparently. The contract buy-out that is, not him signing for us. You can just imagine the stick a Boyd/Higdon front pairing would take from the East Stand.
  22. I'd take it with a pinch of salt. That board has been misleading before. A few week's ago, I noticed Higdon's name omitted from the starting 11 and he played from kick off.
  23. Because you can take that footballing talent and easily add body strength. You can't take body strength and easily add footballing talent. How much body strength did McCarthy have when he joined Wigan for 1.2 million?
  24. Then we will have to be content with losing players on freedom of contract every window. We have a policy of bringing in players for free (or through the youth ranks), and paying fairly low wages. You don't generate big transfer fees that way, but you do balance the books. With one or two exceptions, the guys we have sold haven't exactly excelled down south, so you could just as easily argue we are getting the best of those deals.
  25. A million for Randolph and you'll just throw in the rest of them for free? Harsh.
