  1. It's obviously just a bit of banter between 2 guys that have worked with each other before.
  2. Was watching the highlights and had similar thoughts. Higdon's first goal yesterday showed nice touch and vision to pass it into the far corner. The second was a striker's bread and butter - making room for himself close to goal and a simple finish. Give him the service and I have no doubts he's come up with the goods.
  3. Definitely a class act, even at a young age. Always looked a player that was going onto bigger and better things.
  4. It's also incredibly misleading. Jan/Feb typically has the worst winter weather and our record for the last 3 seasons for those 2 months (including Cup games) is pretty good: 2008/2009: Played 11. Won 5, Drew 5, Lost 1 2009/2010: Played 10. Won 6, Drew 3, Lost 1 2010/2011: Played 14. Won 6, Drew 2, Lost 6 Total: Played 35. Won 17, Drew 10, Lost 8. And 2 of those seasons we only lost 1 game during those 2 winter months. Statistics, eh?
  5. Don't worry mate, it won't be compulsory.
  6. That's a valid argument. Although the popularity of the highlights could also be used to attract customers away from the BBC highlights webpage and help sell the other features.
  7. It must be 3 years now since they started talking about it. A drib or a drab would be more than welcome (certainly more welcome than a single video on the official site's home page). I really don't see what's wrong with highlights and/or live streams. Interviews with players are normally less than revealing, and the official site is never going to broadcast anything controversial or against the party line.
  8. What, with Clyde's video and wee teams like non-league Ebbsfleet Utd offering live streaming of games to overseas residents, you'd almost think it was possible to do something like Motherwell TV.
  9. Cheers - that's a nice 5 minute package they put together there. I see the crowd is a wee bit closer to the pitch than we used to be when we went to Shawfield.
  10. Play with players that are on form. Law and/or Murphy are quite capable of playing wide if required and we have full backs that like to give us width. I didn't see anything from last night's game, but the last few games I have seen, Humphrey has just been poor.
  11. Careful. I think that counts as sectarian abuse now
  12. That's what youth development is all about. The majority of them don't make the big time - all you can do is try and identify potential and help develop it.
  13. All I remember about Stevie Cowan is him being fat, slow and useless. The hero thing must have passed me by.
  14. Normally, I'd agree with that, but this season is a little different. We had an earlier start than most last season, plus a later finish and then a short summer before this season kicked off. That is a completely different routine from the one these guys have been trained for over the years, and the increased intensity over the short summer might require a wee rest. Of course, I could be wrong. I often am.

    Overreaction

I thought you'd picked up some spelling tips from your facebook pals You're spot on with your original point, though. I was a bit disappointed by getting turned over again by Rangers, but have come to expect that. Big picture is that even while a couple of loan signings short, we have put a fair number of points on the board early on, which immediately takes some pressure off the team. The style of football being played is also heading in a positive direction and it was definitely a bonus to be in top spot there for a while. The best start to a season I can remember for many years.
  16. And Nicky Law has a pathological hatred of AD 730 nomads? Whether you agree with it or not (and of course the police were heavy handed), all these issues come down to context. If you live in the West of Scotland you unfortunately grow up knowing the terms of abuse used on both sides of the sectarian shenanigans. h*n is one such word, Tim is another. Mild, perhaps, and open to other definitions away from the parochial world religous bigotry - but to pretend they are used at OF football matches to discuss the finer points of human history is stretching it just a wee bit.
  17. It's basic sports psychology - don't even mention negatives. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging you are playing a good team, but saying the only way you can beat them is if they have an off-day is the wrong attitude. Even if you only say it to the media, the players still hear it. Same with the "we don't get judged against the Old Firm" comment. The better approach is the "if we play our best we can match any team on the day". I don't care so much that our record against Rangers is so poor. It's that more often than not the mental approach to the game seems all wrong and we end up folding like a cheap suit.

    Overreaction

It's outrageous and must stop!! "Overreaction" is one word, not two. And this from the published author, no less.
  19. I'd hate to be part of the team talk that went 'Fingers crossed lads, they might have an off day and we won't get humped".
  20. It's a Cup game. Anything better than a loss is acceptable in each and every round.
  21. I agree with that. How about "We need to make them have an off day"? We need to be in about them from kick-off to the final whistle.
