  1. As sure as eggs is eggs, he won't be playing Fir Park.

    East Stand

Are they still playing Soft Cell's 'Tainted Love' at half time? Someone at Fir Park must have really loved that song because they were belting it out for about 15 years.
  3. It's to keep the complainers happy after their disappointment of everyone getting a Cup Final ticket after all. Same with the season tickets. Panic every year, and yet every year everybody seems to get one before the SPL kicks off.
  4. If even there is one thing worse than an adult wandering around town wearing a football shirt that still doesn't make it right.

    Faddy

He may or may not be back before he packs it in (depending on injuries etc.) but Porter's move to Sheffield Utd shows where the real money is to be had. No way Faddy is back at a similar stage in his career.
  6. If we're being pedantic - and it looks like we are - Soccerbase has his 2008/2009 season stats listed as 8 in the League, one in the Championship Play-off (which arguably isn't a league game).
  7. Looks like Falkirk are going to feel the benefit of the Euromillions. A cool 161 million quid.
  8. Long way to go before the transfer window comes to a close. I'm not counting any chickens just yet.
  9. It's meaningless by Dazzer's original claims. It's only as meaningful as any other training session (such as our game against Falkirk today that I haven't even seen mentioned on here - or is it tomorrow?). EDIT: looks like the Falkirk game is today
  10. No they won't. They aren't going to tackle too hard, perform any last-ditch heroics, risk life and limb to prevent a goal, chase lost causes or bust a gut to eke out a result. That's the difference between a competitive match and a meaningless friendly.
  11. So we agree then. It's not an "acid test" or a chance to see how the "team competes at that level". It is, in fact, as I have been saying all along, nothing more than a chance for the players to get some more match fitness under their belts. As a footballing contest, however, it remains meaningless.
  12. I'll be very surprised if there is any more effort exerted than during the last few weeks of the season before the Cup Final.
  13. Leeds Saturday is also a friendly and will not prove anything except the fact that the players will be looking to avoid injury before the season kicks-off. If you are expecting a full-blown, blood and guts encounter, you'll be disappointed.
  14. Maybe he's aiming his daisy-cutters through the "Corridor of Uncertainty".
  15. Excellent. So we can still expect your weekly predictions of miserable defeats this season then?
  16. You mean the chaos caused by all the fans who didn't manage to get a Cup Final ticket?
  17. I really doubt that new facilities are going to attract more people back to the game. The 2 deciding factors are price and product on the park. I would much rather watch Falkirk v Motherwell for a tenner (standing) at the old Brockville than Motherwell v St. Mirren for 20+ quid in a wee plastic seat at the 'New Ravenscraig'.
  18. I seem to remember McCall was rating him as a million pound player. With the number of years left on his contract, U-21 Scotland Status and Europa Cup experience, he must be worth that to someone. Be happier to keep him for one more season though.

    Nicky Law

If he is setting up 30 goals a season, he can sit on a deckchair in the centre circle for all I care. There is more to a balanced team than 'getting stuck in'.
  20. The clubs could take current sponsorship money and TV money and use it to help lower the existing prices. All that would need to happen is to cut player's salaries.
  21. If you're not savvy enough to invest say, 126 million, well enough to support your family, then I don't want you anywhere near the running of my club. You're right; it is a business and some business nous is definitely a job requirement. Oh, and as we are discussing a 166 million lottery win, I think it's safe to say we are dealing in hypotheticals.
  22. Of course you will get more noise if there is 52000 inside the ground rather than 4000. However, I guarantee that if 26000 of those people were allowed to stand, they would generate *more* noise.
  23. In this economic climate, I'd find a struggling builder to cut me a deal on some renovation work and stay put.
  24. If we sell Fir Park, we won't have sufficient funds to build a new stadium. How will we finance those extras? Answer - it's more likely that we will be renting space from the council. A big step backwards in my view.
