  1. Short term - cut our budgets. Long term - increase crowds with regular 3pm Saturday kick-offs and wait for the next TV deal to come along.

I agree with that. I don't think taking a salary bump at this stage in his career was greedy. Taking it with a club in turmoil and a track record of late payment of wages, however, was definitely higher risk that most moves.

Good news for his agent who, I'm pretty sure, was responsible for the whole "Didn't get offered a new contract soon enough (aye, ye did)" situation. Nothing against the player, but for shock factor this ranks somewhere between Catholic Popes and Defecating Arboreal Bears.
  4. I'd like to be on board, but I'd like to hear from the club on how they will communicate the plan to ex-pats like myself. Sounds promising, though.
  5. I think you're right Al. I'm sure we used to have one of the largest pitches in the league (and bigger than both of the OF).
  6. Apparently we lost a few yards at Fir Park with all the work that was done on the pitch last year (at least that is what one of the commentators said). Of course, ultimately, it also depends on where you paint the lines. I remember Souness bringing them in a few yards at Ibrox when Rangers played a Euro tie against a team with good wingers.
  7. Very true. In fact, if you can't download it to your iPod (or mp3 player of choice) it's not really a podcast at all.
  8. It's obviously just a bit of banter between 2 guys that have worked with each other before.
  9. Was watching the highlights and had similar thoughts. Higdon's first goal yesterday showed nice touch and vision to pass it into the far corner. The second was a striker's bread and butter - making room for himself close to goal and a simple finish. Give him the service and I have no doubts he's come up with the goods.
  10. Definitely a class act, even at a young age. Always looked a player that was going onto bigger and better things.
  11. It's also incredibly misleading. Jan/Feb typically has the worst winter weather and our record for the last 3 seasons for those 2 months (including Cup games) is pretty good: 2008/2009: Played 11. Won 5, Drew 5, Lost 1 2009/2010: Played 10. Won 6, Drew 3, Lost 1 2010/2011: Played 14. Won 6, Drew 2, Lost 6 Total: Played 35. Won 17, Drew 10, Lost 8. And 2 of those seasons we only lost 1 game during those 2 winter months. Statistics, eh?
  12. Don't worry mate, it won't be compulsory.
  13. That's a valid argument. Although the popularity of the highlights could also be used to attract customers away from the BBC highlights webpage and help sell the other features.
  14. It must be 3 years now since they started talking about it. A drib or a drab would be more than welcome (certainly more welcome than a single video on the official site's home page). I really don't see what's wrong with highlights and/or live streams. Interviews with players are normally less than revealing, and the official site is never going to broadcast anything controversial or against the party line.
  15. What, with Clyde's video and wee teams like non-league Ebbsfleet Utd offering live streaming of games to overseas residents, you'd almost think it was possible to do something like Motherwell TV.
  16. Cheers - that's a nice 5 minute package they put together there. I see the crowd is a wee bit closer to the pitch than we used to be when we went to Shawfield.
  17. Play with players that are on form. Law and/or Murphy are quite capable of playing wide if required and we have full backs that like to give us width. I didn't see anything from last night's game, but the last few games I have seen, Humphrey has just been poor.
  18. Careful. I think that counts as sectarian abuse now
  19. That's what youth development is all about. The majority of them don't make the big time - all you can do is try and identify potential and help develop it.
  20. All I remember about Stevie Cowan is him being fat, slow and useless. The hero thing must have passed me by.
