  1. Seriously though, its a good idea, except why should the fans pay for something that was supposed to have been done 6 months ago.
That's my though too. It's one thing to raise money for something extra for the club, but they are in a mess because they didn't do what was required at the time and now it is costing them.

I don't think we should be bailing out the club on this particular point any more than we should be bailing out the banks.

  2. Our record in the cups is embarrassing though.

Fans have the right to be upset when every single year we got out of the competition meekly to beatable teams. Not just this Motherwell team though, every single one since we won the cup has been eliminated with a whimper against opposition that we really should be beating.

We've been eliminated from cups by wee teams since long before 1991 (Queen's Park, for example). That's what makes the cup entertaining. I don't know why some people thought we would breeze it against St. Mirren last night. It certainly wasn't based on our recent results against them.
  3. We lose one game out of ten this year and the witch hunts begin. I didn't see the game last night, but we couldn't possibly have played worse than when Hibs skelped us 4 - 1 at Fir Park.

For whatever reason, St. Mirren seem to be able to stop us playing. All the recent games have been close and not pretty to watch. It will take a game or two to re-adjust to playing without Porter, and we do need to find an approach (that's not 4-5-1) to deal with teams like St. Mirren.

If we play as poorly for the next 2 or 3 games, then we should be worried.

  4. To be honest I was grateful for it, I dont like kids in pubs and the vast majority of the punters don't like it either.
Totally agree. There are a few pubs over here that let kids in and I hate it. Its no place for the weans.
  5. Yeah I thought that initially but whilst on here most can get away with any old shite, in his position he would need to be sure before putting it in print, No?
I take it you don't read many newspapers if you think their daily output is full of fact. The dross that is served up (especially in the tabloids) is written on the premise that most clubs don't have the time, money or inclination to sue for every untrue "fact". I guarantee I could scan through 3 or 4 papers today and find a factual inaccuracy in every sports page.
  6. I was talking to Chris Porter at the open day and he said he was a Man Utd fan and still has his season ticket from when he used to go every week with his dad and brother.
Makes sense. He was born in Wigan, so he meets the "Don't support your hometown team when you can support Utd" criteria :notworthy:
  7. I'm really surprised at your choice of 'keeper.

I never thought Stuart Rennie was that great and when he took too many steps in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Airdrie and they scored with the resultant free kisck, costing us a place in the final, he went down even further in my estimation. We've had plenty better 'keepers before and since. I really dont understand that selection.

The "too many steps' decision was a farce. Keepers did it every week, and were usually only pulled up on it if they were looking to waste time. It's like the newer rule about keepers holding onto the ball for 6 seconds - how often does that get enforced?

I don't think he was our best keeper, though. McRae tops that list.

  8. But he did tell the Hampden Chiefs to get tae fuck!
The Hampden Chiefs hadn't asked him at that stage, so he didn't tell them anything.

As for Semih what the fuck has that got to do with the McCarthy situations?
It's exactly the same. The guy is Turkish born and bred (with Turkish parents), but chose to play for the German national youth teams.
