  1. Glad to see that Motherwell are working on retaining players. Don't want to see any of them going for free and be good to have the same ( or similar ) squad as I think, this season, we have been reaping the beneifits of the continuity of our squad. Playing together longer can only make us a better team for next season.
  2. Indded Muzz! let's hope they hold their nerve. The fans need to get right behind them and let them know that we are in full support of getting the OF sorted out. and it's not so much a case of getting at them as it isog making the SPL a better league.......just so happens that to make it a better league tone of the first major items is to sort out the OF!! There really is no reason why the rebel 10 should loose their nerve. Hopefully they have finally learned that there is no need for them to pander to the OF because when it comes down to it who gives a flyin Fk if they are in the league or not!!!! the consequences of them not being a part of it are minimal at most. Lets organize this league by democratic means not by dictatorship. Ou est le Guillotine ?
  3. let's hope that the revolution can sort out this post split fiasco as well. There should be a set method for deciding the post split fixtures so that everyone knows at the start of the season how it is going to work. Seems that it's just open to abuse again allowing the authorities to pander to the OF with no set procedure in place for setting the fixtures in a completely unbiased manner.
  4. The 10 rebel teams have much less to loose than the OF if the SKY TV deal goes away. We also have a lot less to loose if Celtic go away. The selfish B's would be off in a heartbeat anyway if england would take them so I for one don't care if they are part of the league or not. The media just perpetuate the myth that Scottish football needs the old firm. That is just not true. Scottiish football might possibly become more enjoyable, entertaining, interesting and unpredictable with the absence of an old firm duo. Seems fair that the voting system should revert to something like 75% rather than 11 to 1 More even distribution of revenue should help enable competition leading to more interesting and perhaps more closely contested championships. The object is to improve the SPL "product" as a whole. I'm afraid the OF only want to promote the well being of themselves. All the teams participate in the SPL so the money received by the SPL should be shared evenly. The OF have larger stadiums and will obviously make more money that way than the rest of us but apparently that's just nto enough for them they want a bigger share of everything. Viva the revolution!!!
  5. Let's hope we can score a couple of goals against them this time. Would love to spend all day Saturday in second place. Hopefully that feleing will last till the end of the season.
  6. I think the moset serious threat is Dundee Utd. I can see the table setting up close to this for the split Rangers 60 Motherwell 60 Dundee Utd 50 Hearts 47 St Johnstone 46 If we were to play Utd first and beat them then that would wrap up third spot, since we would be 13 ahead with only 12 points left to play for.
  7. ok here I go diving into the realms of fantasy but I'm a Mothrewell fan, what do you expect?? With upcoming games we have a chance to go into the post split fixtures 6 points ahead of Rangers. The post split games would then be a chance to widen that gap. Would love to finish up more than 10 points ahead of them But more than willing to take any amount ahead of them!
  8. Don't think it should be but if Kilmarnock requested a postponement I think the right thing to do would be to grant their request. Ohh! and it's got sod all to do with the OF
  9. Well folks, the situation has came to the point where the unavoidable answer to this question must be a resounding AIM FOR SECOND!!!!!! The usual cop out of "take one game at at time" has finally reached the stage where that philosophy and "aim for second" are one in the same. There is no option now, we MUST aim for second. We win or draw on Saturday and we are in scond place. Although that only might be for a day but regardless, we are now in the siuation where one game at a time is aiming for second place. C'mon Ye Well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. if they beat rangers and we beat kilie then celtic are 21 ahead, of us,with 21 point left for grabs. So yes, after rangers game, ( as in celtic V rangers ) they would only need 1 point, regardless of what anyone else does.
  11. We don't have to slip up for celtic to win pre split. if they beat rangers it doesn't matter what we do after the Killie game. Celtic only require 1 more point to be pronounced champions. So they have 2 games ater Rangers in which to get that point.
  12. Should have mentioned that, of course, after the OF game and our killie game, it doesn't matter a toss what we do since celtic just need one more point, so it's not really like Rangers will hand the league to Celtic if they beat us at Fir Park.
  13. 24 points left for grabs just now and Celtic are 21 points ahead. so if they beat rangers next week then they are 24 points ahead of rangers with only 21 left up for grabs. However if we beat killie then we will still be 21 points behind celtic, so technically Celtic will still not have clinched the title.
  14. we will probably be the only team that can't beat them
  15. If we can manage to scrape 2 victories from the Aberdeen and Kilmarnock games we could see ourselves in a great position. Some games for our close rivals coming up could help us. St Johnstone have some tough ones, St Mirren, hearts and Celtic which could see them drop a few points hearts with the Hibs derby game, St Johnstone, and aberdeen have 3 tough matches, Dundee Utd would probably seem to be the one to get closest to us althought hey do play rangers today but followed by games against hibs, dunfermline and aberdeen i don't see them dropping too many points basedon their recent run of form. However having said that aberdeen do seem to be a bit of a bogey team for them having beaten Utd twice already this season. So C"MON THE WELL lets get into thi sberdeen team and put another 3 points on the board!!!!
  16. Thanks fudge but can't view that. BBC does something to disable us foreigners from viewing. I normally get to see the highlights in NFSW ( or whatever it's called ) section when Yabba puts them up. Of course getting beat at home by aberdeen in the cup is not really a highlight so, not surprisingly, the game is not up there.
  17. They need to start recording the officals audio and have the sound enable from start to finish..............for quality assurance purposes ;-)
  18. Anyone got a clip of the corner incident? I haven't seen it at all
  19. No problem Hano...................Confusion is what we are all about in this thread!
  20. I'm quite confident Motherwell reserves 2 - 1 Aberdeen
  21. EK's statement is correct It is now certain that a europa cup place will be won by the cup winner or Runner up unless Aberdeen somehow make it to the top 6 and the final If celtic win cup then aberdeen or hibs will take lowest euro spot. ( Unless aberdeen end up in a top 6 poition higher than the lowest qualifying spot ) Obviously if Aberdeen or hibs ( or St mirren or hearts ) win the cup they get highest qualifying berth. if St Mirren or hearts get beat in the final They get nothing since the winner ( aberdeen or hearts ) will take highest berth.
  22. here's a good link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_stadium_categories i know it's wikipedia but it has links to the actual UEFA Stadium Infrastructure regulations so you can read for yourself.
  23. I like Murphy and he has got talent but find it hard to see how anyone could argue against your point on the big games. Either him or the coaching staff have to figure out the problem and fix it. I am glad he still plays with us and I think he can still contribute for us but to be fair to Humphrey ( who got dropped eventually ) I think it's it's time to drop Murphy and put humphrey back in the starting line up. Thats why we have a squad of players, to spread the load and replace the off form ones with the on form ones. No shame in that. they all go through their ups and downs. Murphy just needs to find the trigger to move hi sups and downs on to a higher plane.
  24. I think humphrey has palyed himself into a starting position so would be surprised not to see him start on saturday. For the cup game i had a bad feeling about it before hand but despite our personel issues for the forthcoming game I think we are going to take 3 points. Poossibly because saturday was one of those days 1. Horrendus officiating decision 2. Dreadful defending 3. Missed penalty 4. Injury to key defensive player 5. reduced to 10 men 6. Played really badly 7. Got our tactics all wrong ..........and Aberdeen hung on for a 1 goal victory. Surely we can't have 2 bad days like that in a row??
  25. Based on some conversation in the shout box today I am pasting the information below from SPL website. Apologies if this is elsewhere in another thread. http://www.scotprem.com/content/default.asp?page=s2&newsid=10789 Hopefully this will not concern us anyway but................ It seemed to have been said that if one of the top 5 wins the cup then all top 5 teams will be in europe. ( said before the rangers situation ) That is not the case. ( according to below ) If Celtic win the cup then Hibs or Aberdeen will be in Europe. What It doesn't tell us is, what happens if Hearts ( assuming they stay in top 6 ) win the cup?? I am assuming, due to lack of any statement, that the runners up will not qualify for europe in that case. So, not surprisingly, first order of business for us, is to get points tally that secures 5th place thereby ensuring european football, since Rangers will not be in europe. Then same for 4th then 3rd then second. As many have stated we do need to take one game at a time so this is more of a "check off" list after each week, where hopefully we earn some more points and our rivals have one less game left to catch us. European places 2012/13 Scotland's position in the UEFA rankings at the end of 2010/11 was 15th, meaning that five clubs will qualify for European competitions next season: ~ The 2011/12 champions and runners-up enter the Champions League in the third qualifying round. ~ This season's Scottish Cup winners enter the Europa League in qualifying round four (play-offs). ~ The third-placed club in the SPL go into the Europa League third qualifying round. ~ The fourth-placed club in the SPL go into the Europa League second qualifying round. ~ If the Scottish Cup winners have qualified for the Champions League, then the SPL third-placed club enters at QR4, the fourth-placed club enters in QR3 and the cup runners-up enter in QR2. ~ If the Scottish Cup winners and runners-up have both qualified for the Champions League then the fifth-placed club in the SPL qualify for Europe, going into the Europa League at QR2.
