  1. I support your call to arms given what is at stake and we have had a good season with a great run of results, however, I cant agree with the last bit. We were good to watch in the first quarter of the season and for a few games after Henrik signed up, but on the whole, since Christmas at least, we have not been pretty on the eye. Effective? Mostly. Good to watch? Hardly. We played far more attractive football under McGhee until our pitch scuppered that and the European ties under Gannon and Brown were good to watch too. Maybe the common denominator is summer football! Regardless, this is all about the end result and never in our history have we had the chance to play in the Champions League. So, get your asses of the couch, out the bookies, out the pub, off the golf course or wherever you planned being this weekend and lets help the team over the line.
  2. Some people maybe Al but I think most are just upset about the manner in which we lost today against Celtic Reserves. Our performances in the last 3/4 weeks have been poor. If we had lost today playing really well having had a real go then I think the tone would be a lot different and we could have confidence going into next week. Both the players and the fans need to regroup and hold our nerve.

    Celtic

Steve Jennings by a country mile.
  4. McCall is a decent manager and about as good as we can expect to attract given the finances at our disposal and the size of our club. No way should we be thinking about parting company. He hasnt been helped recently with injuries and suspensions which have upset consistency of selection. All that said, 4-5-1 wasnt working over the winter and its not working now. He has to find a way of rejuvinating the players and our level of performance otherwise we can kiss 3rd place goodbye. Mon the ginger army!
  5. If we had played like we have in the last 3/4 weeks all season, we WOULD be fighting relegation. Dont mistake the above for a kneejerk reaction. Just the frustration of watching a great season unravelling in front of our eyes. I felt exactly the same during the winter when we were experiencing the same problems. Then it was Henrik that came along and gave us fresh impetus. Right now its gonna have to come from the manager. He needs to get it right and fast. Next week is massive.
  6. Like a lot of others, so annoyed on so many fronts. McCall - we established in January that 4-5-1 doesnt work for us because Higdon isnt mobile enough and nobody else gets close enough to take advantage of his hold up play. Either drop Higdon or play 2 up front. We have also stopped playing football. No fluency to our passing. Leaves us resorting to lumping it long all the time.Pish to watch. Hately - delivery was pish and has been for weeks. What has happened to him? Hammell, Clancy, Hutch - didnt deal with the cross balls coming in from the right all game. A goal was only a matter of time. Daley - so infuriating. Got into some decent positions first half but never had control of ball at any time. Humphrey - can you teach/instill bravery/confidence/desire? So much potential but so rarely delivers. Carswell/Law - Consistently chose the wrong passing options. Ojamma - not much time to shine but looks a shadow of the player we thought we had! I think a lot of this comes down to the manager/system. We need to get back to keeping the ball and putting the opposition on the back foot and allow the players to build back their confidence. Having so many players off form at the one time is no coincidence. Somehow we ARE still in the driving seat. Lets not throw it away!
  7. Have met both Nevin and John Boyle. One seemed a decent genuine bloke who knew a lot about football. The other seemed totally out of touch with reality..... Would never slate John Boyle for his ambition and love for the club, however his vanity and unrealistic expectations were undoubtedly our downfall. Not saying Nevin is totally blameless either, but we all bought into the dream. Was really bitter about Nevins role at the time, but not now. Think the article is quite illuminating and shows a different path could have been tread.
  8. Thats true, but it certainly gives the SPL chairmen and board food for thought. An SFA national league with Newco in the third division is surely not out of the question?
  9. Oh Please make it happen! 2000 Well fans in the east waving toothbrushes at Lennon on live TV! Priceless!
  10. I wouldnt disagree. You dont have to pay young boys big wages and the transfer fees for movin on under 23's contract or not, would keep the club afloat. It would be an absolute disaster for the Ugly Sisters and they would be forced to punt their high earners making the playing field more even. That would make our league more competitive, interesting and drive crowds UP! We should be modelling ourselves on Norway, Sweden, Denmark etc not the EPL. Greed is not good and right now neither are we, so what do we have to lose?
  11. Why is it that everybody immediately assumes that less money will mean a poorer product and lower crowds? Im fed up with that argument as its just total tosh! Its not the amount of money you have that is important its what you do with it and how you structure things. They way ahead for Scottish football is to invest in youth. Thats how we got success in the past and thats how we will succeed in the future. Has everyone forgotten the start we made under Gannon? Those European games were immense with a team whose average age was about 23. The Flamurtari game was brilliant and we scared the sh*t out of Steua Bucharest at Broomfield. It was so exciting and yes, the wheels came off Gannons bogey, but that sense of hope is priceless. Rangers and Celtic have screwed Scottish Football with their level of greed and self interest for years and we have all allowed it to happen. Thats why we must send the strongest message possible to our board about whats at stake here in order that they understand the strength of feeling and force them to do the right thing. Thankfully, I think they are listening. Here's hoping the other clubs are too. Lets take get the peoples game back for the people!
  12. Given that we will be playing champions league in July and transfer window closes in August, he can probably do both!
  13. Your work colleague clearly hasnt read the thread on the 'Rainjurs debacle' lol!!!!!
  14. I think if we beat St Johnstone and Dundee United at home we will finish 3rd and will deserve it.
  15. Id rather gouge my eyes out with a spoon! There's a world of difference between appreciating the achievement of a likeminded community club and lauding either of the ugly sisters. I hope they get their point against Killie, maybe then they will ring the changes in order to make it easier to steal Rangers £900k.....er, I mean, rest players for the Scottish Cup!
  16. So looks like we will have Celtic, Rangers and Dundee United at home and St Johnstone, Hearts away. I would bite your hand off for that right now!
  17. Thought it was a decent performance yesterday. Not the prettiest at times but after last week, much more competitive. If we can take that level of performance into the last 6 games we will do okay.
  18. I remember being at that game as a 10 year old. After we went 2 up the knuckle draggers started throwing beer bottles but they were so pished they were hitting all the kids down the front. Remember my dad picking me up and carrying me across the pitch to the enclosure where we watched the rest of the game. Think this was the first time I realised I hated Rangers!
  19. Not sure its so much that we 'need' the extra money, but we would be silly to turn it down, certainly in the short term until we see how the whole Rangers debacle plays out. I remember the all terraced days when you would only get a few hundred M'Well fans turning out for OF games cause they effectively had the whole ground and you had to run the gauntlet to get into the Well section. Things are a vast improvment from then. Much rather see a packed East and Cooper than all the empty spaces you normally get. Hopefully give our support the platform to get right behind the team.
  20. Good to hear this response from the dressing room. Hope we get a reaction on Saturday. He's wrong about the pen tho. Wasnt sure at the game but on the tv evidence we can have no complaints.
  21. I must have been sitting near you! I remember that or something very similar. Funny as f***! Well, I think it was spposed to be.......
  22. Sorry sbmfc, usually agree with most of your posts but I thought Clancy was trying too hard at times. He rode his luck with a lot of his tackles and I thought he was going to pick up a red at one point. Didnt think his distribution was great either. Too many Craigan World Cup balls when a wee pass to Jennings/Carswell would have done. Looked like the Killie fans and one or two of the players had got under his skin. Shame cause I think he has had a good season for us and has surprised me with his quality. Hope he has saved his best for this week!
  23. Our over reliance on long balls to Higdon is becoming embarrassing. We appear to have stopped trying to play football of any sort. It was clear before half time that he and Ojamma were having stinkers, Ojamma even changed his boots! Also, I like Clancy, but he needs to stop playing the Stephen Craigan ball! With Humphrey starting to hit a bit of form we need to mix it up a bit and to get back to playing slick passing football.
  24. Thought Humphrey was our best player by a distance yesterday. Why we didnt get the ball to him at every opportunity when it was clear all around were having howlers is beyond me.
