He signed Connor Shields and Tierney and Mahon from Ireland......

Leaving the Watt debate aside, I really hope that GA does something to combat the threats of Hungbo and Charles-Cooke from the wide areas They have been a real pain in the arse and caused us all sorts of problems in our previous games this season. I think if we can negate them, you limit Ross Countys ability to hurt us. Of course, you have to marry that with a plan to allow us to retain a goal threat of our own and there in lies the problem. However, if we line up in our regular shape with Woolery and/or Efford in wide areas in a 4-3-3, we will just expose our full backs to another roasting. I guess a lot will depend on who is fit and able to play right back. But this is certainly not a game for punting big Bevis out there. Id be tempted to go with something like....... Kelly SOD/OHara Mugabi Lamie Carroll OHara/ Cornelius Donnelly Slattery Goss Tierney KVV If SOD is fit then take your pick from Cornelius/Donnelly/OHara for the midfield spot.

Really tough place to go at the best of times but they will be full of confidence and we are on a horrendous run......

Close thing for me between Tierney and Slattery. Tierney is very much a work in progress, but you can see the ability and the desire to create a chance or get a shot away. I can see him being an important player for us next season. However, I went for Slattery. He is our best midfielder by a mile and showed it yesterday.

The frustrating thing about yesterday is that we actually played some decent football for a change and created a fair few chances, partucularly in the first half. United may have had plenty of the ball, but they were doing precious little with it until they got the goal and even that is a wicked deflection. The problem for GA is that its another defeat on top of the already poor run of form that we have been on and makes it easy for his detractors to pile on and demand him gone. Whilst I have been teetering on the edge with him for some time, I dont see yesterday, in isolation, as a reason to call for his head. At least yesterdays defeat had a level of entertainment about it, and a mid table finish playing that style of football would be eminently more watchable than the majority of the fayre we have been served up all season. My only problem with yesterday was the substitutions again, which were baffling. Taking off Ojala for Efford seemed to make sense, but why not go to a back 3 and keep the extra man in midfield? Pushing OHara back to rightback didnt make any sense. Then he compounded it by putting Mugabi up front which was desperate enough in itself, but then to take Woolery off and put Donnelly on? Ive no idea how he thought that was going to get the goal we needed. All that said. The poor run of form does continue and the pressure continues to mount. GA needs to show he can turn this around. Next week would be a good place to start.

Id forgotten about Max Johnston. Id love him to get game time, develop and become a fixture in the team. Just not sure he will get that chance. However, Rooney is proven at our level. If we could get him on a free and get some of our dead wood out the door, he would be an asset as he can play a number of positions very well.
-
Not really seen enough of McCart or Hendry to comment. Id have had either of their dads though! Rooney I would take all day long. Would definitely give us options on the right side either at full back or right midfield.

Drove up there for Stevie Hammells 500th appearance. Left at 5-0 and missed our goal. Never been back! Hoping for an absolute shitfest today and a 0-1 win!

No interest in having Gallagher back. Whether he could recreate the form of his first season is in itself questionable, but given the nature of his departure, it would create a more toxic atmosphere with the fans than there exists already. We need to identify fresh blood.

I like Slattery and I think he could have been out player of the year had he actually played the full season. The fact he didnt pushed me towards Kelly who will be a worthy winner.
-
Has to be Kelly. No one else has maintained his level of consistency over the whole season.

I believe if I am better informed there may be more validity to my posts, rendering me less open to ridicule!

I totally understand that debating openly on here could reveal a source and respect that it should be avoided. However, in many cases, those that who may deemed by you to be worthy of ridicule may have no idea there is no validity in their posts. Merely suggesting a more constructive approach might enlighten them. But then Im a bit of a happy clapper, so maybe Im just being too optomistic on that front.
-
Why ridicule someone elses opinion though? You could just point out it is wrong. Explain why it is wrong and maybe we would all have learned something?
-
If there was a post of the month award, I would be voting for this.

This is just such a shit argument. There is not a Motherwell fan anywhere who wouldnt take winning a cup over playing in in Europe. For one, winning the Scottish Cup you qualify for Europe anyway. And the way things are goung we are getting to the stage with the co-efficient, the League Cup might be back in with a shout. Its not an either / or. But in the absence of winning a cup (we have done it once in my lifetime and Im 53) then the next best thing is qualifying for Europe and the chance to dream about giving a big name a bloody nose and the potential for a nice away trip. Can we bin this thread. Its just stupid.

The whole waiting for a goal decision could interfere with the spontaneity of the game and crowd interaction, but offsides and penalty decisions could improve. Just have to wait and see how its implemented.
-
I concur. The Ross sacking made no sense. But neither does this only 4 months later. It will take the next guy at least the same amount of time to implement their philosophy.
-
A proper pre-season now consists of starting in July and getting beat of the likes of Airdrie in the League Cup. Im not sure I see the difference?
-
Best of luck to Las in his new venture. Been an absolute stalwart for our club and welcome back anytime. Altogether now...... Clap clap clap clap KEEF!

I thought Magliore started off looking poor, but after a run of games he looked better and did have a bit of pace. I dont think he is a massive step up from what we already have though, so Id be surprised if we were interested.
-
I dont think it needs to either or. Somewhere in between would be nice!
-
With van Veen out, Id like to see us play 4-2-3-1. Off course GA doesnt like to play through midfield so it wont happen, but with SOD and McGinley both out injured Id go with this..... Kelly Mugabi Sol Lamie Carroll Slattery Donnelly Woolery Tierney Efford Shields Cornelius / OHara could be interchangeable with Donnelly and Roberts maybe for Efford.
-
So let me get this right. Time wasting and feigning injury is ok. But trying to get on with the game isnt? I know the modern game has changed, but really? No way KVV should be getting a booking for that. You can day its getting needlessly involved, but he still hasnt done anything wrong.
