  1. Both kits have much to like but I think Im turning into UBH as there are bits and pieces of the detail that are annoying and detract from the overall look. I dont like the new macron logo on the front of the shirt. They should have stuck with the writing. Or, if they really wanted the logo on the front, ditch the ones on the shoulders. The home strip collar is also unecessarily overly designed. A simpler more traditional V neck or a claret polo neck would have been much classier. The away strip is almost perfect (logo aside) but I agree that it would look better with claret band on top and not sure there was a need for claret and amber piping round the waist. Spoils the clean lines of another wise quality design.
  2. Id bite yer hand off for £2m plus add ons and a season long loan from Man City.....
  3. Sheffield Wednesday would be a good move for all parties. They are a pretty big championship club with aspirations to get back to the premiership. Probably have a decent chance of forcing himself into the first team and if successful, the sell on fee to a bigger club will be more sizeable than if he went to Celtic. A few Scots boys there too so he should have a bit of support. Southampton wouldnt be the worst either. My only concern there is its up another level and Stuart Armstrong has struggled to nail down his place in their team. Not saying David Turbull couldnt do it but its stiff competition right there.
  4. I was certainly entertained getting to 2 cup finals. Battering Rangers then Aberdeen in both semis have to be up there in my top 10 moments following Motherwell.
  5. Certainly puts us on the radar for bigger clubs looking for development prospects and encouraging local boys that Motherwell is the place to start any prospective career in football. The fees we will receive for the other 3 mentioned will total a 7 figure sum on their own. Win win for us all round.
  6. Correct decision by the club. As a fan owned club, our own fans should come first. It really is that simple. On a positive note, look what Kilmarnock achieved on the last day of the season. By taking bold decisions like this, you might actually encourage more Motherwell fans to turn out and support their team if they feel they will be able to do so in a safe environment.
  7. Just give UBH the job every year. Those are awesome.
  8. So, the only game he has played that position you think he was ok but you think he is not SPL standard?
  9. There also looked like there was a foul in there against one of our players in the build up
  10. He has been out on loan at QoS. Hopefully that experience will have improved him. Granted, that remains to be seen.....
  11. Ariyibi for me. One of the few who kept going 2nd half. Some of his flicks and tricks were sublime. Worth the entry fee on their own.
  12. I still think we have a decent manager. Yes he has made mistakes. But he is working with very limited resources trying to unearth diamonds in the mud. There is inherent risk in that endeavour. He also had the courage to change our whole style of play midseason making us a whole lot easier to watch. You also cant ignore the progression of young players into the first team under his guidance. Can do better. Undoubtedly. Trust him to get better. For sure.
  13. Ridiciculous thread. Robinson isnt going anywhere. Nor should he. Our squad looks like its gonna need a total rebuild and he is well along the way with his plans. Needlessly ditching the manager now would be a massive distraction and waste valuable time. Never gonna happen.
  14. McHugh is a decent centre half. Id be happy for him to stay. If Aldred is away and Gallagher comes in I think we have plenty cover with Dunne, Maguire and Mbulu. Thats even without taking Hartley into account.
  15. ^^^^This Maybe a fairer way would be to have awards for every division and only the players in that division get to vote. That way you can only vote for someone you are likely to have played against.
  16. He just doesnt seem to have recovered fully from the injury he suffered last season. He had enough game time in the first half of the season to get match sharp but always looked off the pace. Also didnt provide anywhere near the goal threat at set pieces that we had come to expect. Real shame because the Pete Hartley that we saw for the first 6 months he was here was awesome.
  17. Can we please stop talking about a player who has now signed for another club? This is the rebuild thread. Lets talk about that. I for one would be delighted to see Cadden sign on for another 2 years. Like others Im not sure there would be many takers at £600k given his recent form and injury. However, he has looked better since his return and he is a full international now. (Cant help thinking his endeavours last summer and subsequent form/injury might have been linked. Remember Alan Campbells form dropped off after playing in The Toulon tournament ). If he stays, and goes for free in 2 years we will at least have got some value from him in the playing sense. Whether it equates to £600k would depend on our league position. However, he is tried and tested at our level so far less of a risk than trying to find a replacement of equal/better quality.
  18. Just for a little balance I asked my mate who is a big CU fan for his thoughts on Carroll. He is a level headed guy who has a balanced view on most things so I trust his judgement. This is what he said..... "I quite like him, but that might be because when my boy was a mascot for CU last year Carroll was the player he walked out with. Instead of just ignoring him, he spoke to my boy asking him lots of questions, and was just really friendly. Must admit that this season has been shocking for Cambridge United, and we could well have been relegated out of the league, we were lucky that there were three teams below us who were even worse! Whenever I saw Carroll play I always liked him, but must admit the last month or so he hasn't played that much, perhaps that was because they knew he was leaving." So it appears he was a decent spud who did a decent job but CU have been shit this year and he hasnt played much and is leaving. Given the experience of our own support (see Jake Hastie) it might explain why so many CU fans are angry and lashing out. Why dont we wait and see what he is like? Give the boy a chance.....
  19. Really disappointed that Hastie is leaving. Even more so that he is going to the dead club. I cant blame the boy for having his head turned. The salary increase involved will be substantial and he will view it as a chance to raise his profile even further. I dont know if he is a Rangers fan but that would also be a consideration. Obviously, as a Motherwell fan, I think he would have benefitted from a full season in our first team and might have got an even bigger move if he had stayed with us for a year or two. However, players have to way up money now vs future potential in the knowledge that it can all be wiped out with one tackle. I dont bare Jake any ill will. He has made an informed choice. However, I dont think he should play again this season unless absolutely necessary. We wont learn anything from keeping him in the team and, if last week is anything to go by, the atmosphere will become increasingly ugly anytime he touches the ball. We can do without that sideshow when we are trying to secure 7th place and the extra cash that goes with it.
  20. Not many pass marks in 2nd half. Best in first half were Turnbull and Gorrin. Went for Turnbull. His range of passing and peripheral vision is outstanding at times. Plus he adds goals.
  21. Whilst not as influential as he normally is, I thought Turnbull was our most composed player on the ball and tried to keep things moving. I dont blame him at all for the 2nd goal as Dunne should never have put him in trouble. Even when he got it he was alert enough to see that Gillespie was covered and his only option was up the touchline. Unlucky to be dispossessed.
  22. Main has played much better since January without scoring obviously. It was the first half of the season he was dogmeat. But then the whole team were shite then.
  23. Thats what makes it so interesting as we are all playing teams in the mix. With the fixtures set up as they are anything could happen. I agree we need to at least not lose to Hibs though. 5 points would probably be too much to overcome. A win puts it in our own hands though.
