  1. I'll be honest, didn't like the design. Someone else at the club similarly as the claret shorts featured more regularly than they should. It was hardly exclusive as promised either. Cannot fault the quality of the Xara produce, with player issue same as those offered as replica. In the designs defence, I've mentioned recently how good it actually looks as those involved with us at the Motherwell Fans (that's ex-Well Trust FC) will testify... it's being used as our current home strip. Smartest in the league by a country mile.
  2. Travelling from the North West for a reserve match? Dedication. Going by the accents heading to/from the match they didn't have too many locals swelling their support. For those who have followed Bravo's Danny Dyer series and the 'Toughest pubs in Britain' on Sky, we were graced with the presence of Eddie Beef/Eddie the Beef. Let's just say the years haven't been kind... looked like a brass monkey in all honesty.
  3. Ian Clinging of First Division Championship winning fame and I'm sure there was a fella who ended up dabbling in sporting dvds... Hynd, both Whitefords and I'm sure ex-Morton player Frank Welsh? PE teachers second to none, for those who made the footballing teams it was even better. Could forge their signatures better than themselves for my behaviour timetable!
  4. Prior to turning the seating areas over to the In-Firm the bar facilities were used for hospitality guests, is the Cooper Suite open to all and sundry on Saturday? Just clocked the thread for this
  5. Champions League? Yer having a laugh!!! Left the match feeling entertained, a thorough workout played at a decent tempo against very worthwhile opposition which I'm sure both sides will benefit from. Not the finished article by any means, but, Gannon has exerted some influence thus far. If truth be told, 4 changes in the second half filled me with dread. Admirable performances by those fringe players who held the shape and work ethos. Bodes well for the future, dare I say (I know there is another thread) the squad is stronger than in previous campaigns? First silverware in what could have been a five haul this year... onwards and upwards.
  6. Bang on with that post. To me, Mr Boyle has been badly advised by 'football' people previously. We have lived to tell the tale, his decison making over the last few seasons has been somewhat outside the box and credit to him for that. There will always be room for improvement which I'm sure he'll appreciate also. I'd expect the unexpected, it's working the noo.

    Signing #7

Expect the Unexpected, that not Jim Gannons' way? I trust him.
  8. His hearing has certainly picked up. All those chants clearly audible from his lofty vantage point...
  9. Deflect. Deflect. You made unfounded claims... again. Simply exercising right of reply.
  10. Great retort... Great. Just part of the Anti-Shit Banter brigade? Another unfounded allegation made by one of the finest components of shit banter that our saddy moderators will fail to pick up on. Who was defending? Disect my post however it suits your over sensitivity and agenda. Take it in the context it was meant. Regarding proving an ability to understand just not being there. So by having a differing opinion to your point of view, the ability to understand isn't there? Tarred with the same brush? No denial there, but, the mock outrage club (of which I suspect you're a fully paid up member) on this board knows no bounds... We don't see the youngsters from the far end of the East Stand having a seven pager of claim and counter claim when the media again tar us with this same brush when it comes to barracking of the playing staff, do we?
  11. What? Like those holier than thou who have referred to those involved as 'neds' or step forward Steve Diggle, who referred to 'little pricks'? Yes, the references to child abuse were not excusable, but, the chants should be taken for what they were, a piss-take. It's the latest bandwagon for the faint hearted on here to get their drawers in a twist, touch wood the obituary column in the Times this week doesn't feature anybody Motherwell related... Board overload.
  12. For some reason I cant, I'm sure it followed the report on the Under 19s St Johnstone outing.
  13. Good article appeared on the official site with Youngy stating Motherwells' stance for not entering. As the Reserves were constructed mainly from our Under 19s squad, with very little time, their week was spent in preparation of multiple games and not focusing on technical ability. Supportive of that, use of a development squad against stronger teams from around the UK (as we've already had) are likely. I'm sure the Mould Firm fancied playing Premiership reserves week-in weekout too.
  14. Surely you jest? He's been a firm favourite of mine, but, I've never seen him add any extra bite in our midfield. Ever. Hateley and then Jennings coasted against the cloggers that bulk Kilmarnocks midfield, they'll sail through Aberdeen. I was an advocate of unchanging a winning side, but, these times have changed. It clearly shows why Mr Gannon holds the only UEFA pro licence in Scotland and like the breath of fresh air he has been will tailor the side to suit this match, if that fails, he'll make the necessary changes... For me? I'd love to turn this lot over, but, happy to continue the league campaign unbeaten.
  15. Didn't train on Friday as mentioned elsewhere.
  16. Sorry to be pedantic, born in London makes you English does it not? Maybe of Irish descent, he is what he is... I'll be surprised were Mr Gannon to play even loosely on a love of the blarney stone in his time at Motherwell. Enough plastic paddys in the West of Scotland without fueling the fire.
  17. Installation of roof panels that allow sunlight to meet the pitch? Simples. Incorporated in the design of the San Giro, another faux pas by our in-house architect... Artificial lighting rigs? A wonder of modern technology, likely to be detrimental to the club budget never mind their carbon footprint.
  18. Unfortunately in the case of one individual yes. Can't remember full details, not swept under the carpert as it was with a rather large fellow at the San Giro, hence, why opposition fans probably haven't found cause to taunt. Unsavoury character had his court case and findings making the tabloids.
  19. As I understand it, verbal agreement between Mr McGhee and Chris McCart and a sum of circa £40,000 prior to the move north. Chris McCart enquired as to the progress and was advised otherwise as the verbal agreement had more holes than swiss cheese. He's since been heard to agree with members of staff within the club that he couldn't purchase him for ten times that value now. Not trying to be smart assed, info likely to be questioned. Source? Two of the clubs sponsors with a bigger than average input.
  20. Acclaimed by many to be our greatest hope when all around him was going wrong early last season. Replaced by Bob Malcolm and then a fit Maros Klimpl would suggest otherwise...
  21. Halcyon days right enough! Was THE powderkeg fixture of its time, I and plenty others of my age I know weren't allowed to the game. Was sat on my grans verandah at Elvan Tower listening to the roar awaiting the return of my old man.
  22. Mentioned debating Davie Hay/Jock Wallace on another day in the Brian McLaughlin memories thread and this is how I remembered the story unfolding. If some of the younger posters thought Mr McGhee was a whore, picture the scene on opening day in 1982... parading the championship flag around our hallowed turf pre match, (yes, we had turf in them days!) we had Big Jock applauding the blue hordes who chanted the chunts name in return! Then there was his attempt at ethnic cleansing in the dressing room and the arrival of Nicky Walker... we'd have been better signing Annie Walker! Not normal practice, honest, but, I did a little jig when he was called to the great gig in the sky and that lot were falling over themselves at the open air masonic lodge proclaiming him to be a 'great'. Big Jock knew after all!

    Canterbury

Have to admit, I like the new away kit. At least the wee fella and my nephews kits are likely to be the same! The nephew's kit has the club badge edging over the fabled hoop spoiling the whole look of the shirt imho. Hell, if the material was similar to the Canterbury offerings available in Sports Direct just now I'd make a kit purchase for the first time in a long, long time. As fussy as I am, I'd even purchase the full kit if both the top and shorts are the same colour...
  24. Exactly the post I would have made. Davie Hay/Jock Wallace can be debated another day. Thoughts are with Mr McLaughlins family.
