Why the sudden change from last year? Our hoop didn’t appear to be a problem then. I can’t see anything wrong with wearing white numbers on the back of the shirt like we did against Steau Bucharest.

I would expect our new first team kit will be ready in time for our first Europa Cup tie. If so, does the kit sponsor have to be approved in advance by UEFA before it can be used in the competition?

Breiðablik seem to be playing well and no matter what league you play in scoring goals can only breed confidence. Hope I’m not alone in thinking this will be a very tricky match.

Not sure who will sponsor the replica kit but maybe Motherwell could look into doing something similar...

While it's not a shout it from the rooftops deal (bad pun intended!) any sponsorship money is very welcome. Here's hoping the real deal will be announced soon.

In an ideal world yes. I’m not sure of the other ways they could sponsor us and still achieve maximum coverage for their brand. Companies will always want the prime ad location and in football that is the shirt. The other solution would be to rename the stadium after the sponsor but that would open up a whole different issue on historical identity. It wouldn’t be such a problem if we moved, as it would offer us the opportunity to start afresh with a new sponsor stadium name. The name could change depending on who offers the most money. At the end of the day the shirt sponsor is still the jewel in the crown for brand awareness.

For the team/managers sake I hope we get a good solid commercial deal in place soon. Although in this time of recession any kind of sponsorship would be welcome.

John Boyle supports quite a few charities with his Romanian orphans one being the most well known. While a charity sponsor would be good PR it would not raise much needed cash for the club.

This was used purely as a joke sponsor on my C&A Airdrie mock up. The state banks are in at the moment I’m sure it’s the last thing Airdrie Savings Bank are thinking about. I think another online betting company is the more likely option. Clubs the size of Motherwell rarely attract big world brand name sponsors, with American multinational telecommunications company Motorola being the exception to the rule. My top three new sponsor guesses would be... 1. Another .com gambling company 2. Local car dealership 3. LogintoLearn/local council style deal In an ideal world I would prefer a sponsor free shirt, but sadly that could spell financial disaster for a club the size of Motherwell.

I don’t mind the claret shorts but I think the kit would have looked better with amber socks with a claret hoop. Overall though I’m very happy with our kits.

Coincidently, Swansea City have just released an all white Umbro home kit.

Out of the two I prefer the home kit. The main reason is the odd shaped collar on the away. Overall a great effort by Puma, lets hope there not ruined by a naff sponsors logo!

Which publications, any chance you could post an extract?

I would be happy if we opted for the same Dundee simple V neck style collar and avoided the complicated version that has appeared on some Puma shirts. Now here’s hoping for a simple traditional design to complete the overall look and possible return of the white away...

If we did I don’t remember it. Our main Admiral away was similar to this Bukta retro replica Before that we had a white top with a claret and amber sash. That one was made by Umbro.

The blurb on the back talks about ‘during their 83 year history, they have won every honour in the Scottish football game...’ My rough calculation would make that around 1969. I remember my Uncle bringing me home a copy to play on my Dansette record player around that time.
