I would love to see a modern tailored Umbro revival of this classic 60’s kit. It really was a claret & amber classic. The closest we have come in recent times was our simple crew neck Xara 2002-04 Untouchables kit. Although that particular kit had no front to back claret hoop.

Keep checking Football memorabilia sites like footybits.co.uk they get loads of rare cards and paper clippings. I’ll let you know if I spot one.

Thanks a million for posting those pics big tache. Yes I am getting on in years (47 to be precise). Dixie was a great player and when he moved to Celtic it broke my heart. My wish is for Motherwell to move back to Umbro one day and get the ‘tailored strip’ treatment just like Man City. That strip would make the perfect template.

The Partick Puma gear has been pretty good. Certainly not just the usual template gear.

Talking of kit deals, I see that Dundee and Provan Sports have signed a deal with Puma.

Almost certainly be going to Peter Houston or Walter Smith.

I noticed Burnley are celebrating 100 Years of Claret & Blue with a special exhibition of past strips. It would be nice to do something similar in 2013 for 100 Years of Claret & Amber.

It wouldn’t surprise me as teams change their kit more than they change their underwear. The problem with the modern kit is sponsorship. When sponsors logos started to appear on kit there was always a danger it would need to be replaced quicker than expected. Sponsors/strip manufacturers money is a much needed source of income for any club, so I’m afraid there is nothing we can do.

Those were the two biggest that went against us. No point moaning though, hopefully we will get a few going our way in the battle to get a Euro spot.

Interesting one that. I would have thought one of our 70’s hardmen like Willie McVie or Gregor Stevens. Does anyone keep these sort of stats?

You could have picked any player from our side as the MotM. They all played their part against as poor a Hearts side that I’ve seen in years. But if pushed I would have to go for Jennings.

+1 No excuses. It’s a complete and utter shambles. Unless it’s sorted asap the Fir Park pitch should be ‘turfed out’ the SPL.

There is no way we can continue to play football on this surface year in year out. I’m not sure if we should be given any more chances to get the surface in order. If the SPL allowed artificial pitches I’m sure Motherwell would install one. If nothing else it would stop the grief from the media, managers, players and supporters about our excuse for a pitch. Like anything players would adapt in the same way other people adapt to changes in other jobs. I’ve actually bored myself trying to defend our pitch to fans of other teams. Quite frankly it’s embarassing and now when asked, I say your right it’s a fucking joke. To put it bluntly... it has to be a contender as the worst pitch in Scotland. For a full time team to have that honor is nothing to be proud of. I really thought by now that there would only be threads praising our pitch. Sadly unless we do something drastic that thread is never likely happen.
