  1. Chick Young did mention last month that he knew of two interested groups who are keen on investing in St.Mirren. He went on to say that one of those groups would send shockwaves through Scottish Football (or some other pish tabloid speak). It could be that Mike Ashley is looking to invest in another side who wear black and white stripes, or maybe he just wants a shot at the panda suit.
  2. Does that include this man, fatcalf?
  3. It's going to be a long 90 minutes. Rangers looked strong and determined last night against Dundee United and I fear a similar scoreline on Saturday. 3-0 or possibly 3-1 Rangers.
  4. The finest flag in recent times was the Phil O'Donnell shirt one. It was a fitting tribute to the great man and a tremendous team effort by all involved.
  5. Hope you enjoy the Fir Park experience Traffic and it all ends in a win for the Well.
  6. Jim - Is it fair to make us (the fans) wait until the middle of the week to hear your opinions about Saturdays game? Why can't you post something on the official site on Saturday night or Sunday morning?
  7. A good point well made. When I was a lad (que Hovis theme) football highlights were on free to air TV at a decent time. There was Scotsport on a Sunday afternoon and Sportscene on Saturday evening. Not all kids (especially those from low income families) can afford Sky or ESPN. All we are looking for is some decent highlights (Scotland and SPL games) on terrestrial telly. They have it down South with the EPL and England games so why not here.
  8. Jim's Christmas sing song night could be interesting, especially if it looks like he's signing a pre-contract with Aberdeen.
  9. He's already giving interviews to the BBC since then. So it must be something more recent.
  10. Tremendous player but i'm sure he recently signed a new 1 year deal at Thistle as a thank you for standing by him when he was injured. That deal may now be extended as i'm sure he's out injured yet again!
  11. No more random than this flag but I would have preferred a picture of Jim shooting a fox. Then it could have said FUR PARK. I'll get my coat (fox of course).
  12. If he signs I hope he's not another Danny Murphy in disguise. After rave reviews from Cork City fans I was certain that Danny was set to be a Motherwell legend. We will just have to trust Gannon on this one and hope Ger O'Brien (if he signs) goes on to be a true Motherwell legend.
  13. Interesting response from the SFA. It just begs the question who is telling the truth? The SFA have since replied:
  14. Still a bit numb after drawing yet another match, when we probably should have got all 3 points. Anyway, I voted for Saunders.
  15. One from the 1960's and one from the 1980's v Celtic
  16. Young Well, Northern Ireland Milk Cup winners 1983. Anybody recognise anyone from this very young Well youth side?
  17. My memory is hazy but I think it's Pat Gardner who played in the midfield. This may have been his last season as I'm sure he was transferred to somewhere like Arbroath the following season.
  18. Couldn't have put it better myself.
  19. I have to confess it was me perving on my lunchbreak.
  20. Spot on, these are tough times for everyone. I'm sure a lot of peoples jobs are under threat at the moment with some being ask to take pay cuts. The recession has barely started and no matter how much the Well means to me, my family, mortgage and food are much more important. I've gone into debt before to watch the Well but I'm afraid during these difficult financial times going down that route would be daft. Just now Motherwell is a luxury for me and at the moment my priority is keeping a roof over myself and families head.
  21. The picture is from Provinces v Motherwell May 17th 1928, and shows some of the special guests male and female at the match who were given prime seats on the touchline.
  22. 3 more pics from the sold out 1928 South American tour. Motherwell Football Club on tour in Argentina, May and June 1928, Photo shows: Buenos Aires Select XI 1 v Motherwell 0, at the River Plate Stadium, May 13th 1928, The crowd arriving at the Stadium which was packed to capacity with enthusiastic South American fans who saw their team win 1-0 with the winning goal being scored by Sposito, Motherwell enjoyed a period of great success between 1927 and 1934, when they were always in the top three of Scotland's First Division, They were acknowledged as the most attractive side in the country, scoring more goals than any other team in Division 1 for 4 consecutive seasons, During the summer of 1928 Motherwell set sail for a prestigious tour of Argentina, By the end of the tour they had accumulated 2 silver cups, 2 shields, gold medals and a tour record of: Played 11, won 6, drawn 1 and lost 4, Their final match was against Brazil, and, as time was short before their ship sailed, the team had to travel to the docks still wearing their football kit, The trip had been organised by a London agent Mr,E,Alcaraz, and the club received a profit of 5000 for the 11 match tour, with Mr,Alcaraz receiving a fee of 2000 as promoter
