  1. Hopfully a decent right back or a tank of a centre half but think I'd take the former first.
  2. Given I wasn't remotely offended by your joke I think I can say I'm not to politically correct. That said political correctness, however you understand it is far from the top of any sane persons list of what is or isn't wrong with the country or the wider world. Political correctness to blame for the banking crisis, don't think so? Political correctness to blame for robbing bastard politicians fiddling their expenses? Is political correctness to blame for any war currently ongoing? Is political correctness to blame for people dying of any number of curable ailments throughout what was once and may still be described as the 3rd world? Is political correctness to blame for sectarianism in west of scotland? Is political correctness to blame for anything really all that important in the grand scheme of things? As it is I take the view of comedian Stewart Lee that political correctness is an, "an often clumsy negociation towards a kind of formally inclusive language," and despite the odd bit of madness is not the huge society ruining social evil you seem to think it is. I'm sure you could provide an example or two I'd happily agree is mad but at the same time it is not killing anyone or the planet. As for my conclusion it a tongue in cheek comment based on your fixation with political correctness gone mad that I expect of a Daily Mail or Sun columnest and the frankie boyle part due to a similar penchant for jokes that tend to be a distinctly black sense of humour. Note the comfort with which I use the term black sense of humour without panicking over excess political correctness.
  3. Frazzle yer a curious combination of someone with the taste in humour of Frankie Boyle and a Dail Mail mentality about much else, I'm surprised yer head hasn't exploded with that contradiction!
  4. From memory seeing him on loan at derby I think and possibly in Arsenal team for a Carling cup match 2 or 3 seasons back he seemed decent but a bit slight, even by our youth systems standards, so Dutch game might suit him better and I daresay Breda offer fair bit more cash.
  5. A natural sided left one though would be magic. Thing is this young lads career path looks like it is on the slide to nonleague rate he dropping. Surely some talent in there but you wonder about the heart or drive or whatever. Could be worth a look, he certainly wouldn't appear to falling over his options.
  6. Was just posting in the FPC prediction league there and led me to checking out the Flamurtari squad on wiki to find a goalscored. Was thinking of I think Alviz, Croatian midfielder. Was it my imagination on the fuzzy and stuttery connection but he was one player that stood out a little bit. Assuming I heard the commentor well enough and made the right connection from squad list but he was the one that seemed to be at heart of most of what they did well. Certainly concerns me a little for thursday, hope we overrun them so much as to keep him anonymous but anyone else think he looked a threat and or potential decent signing target assuming pace off SPL isn't to much for him?
  7. Don't think it was even that much for Solksjaer. I heard numerous versions including one with another player being involved but we had to take Solksjaer also and we either didn't fancy him or couldn't afford both. Believe Hiddink was out of a job when he supposedly expressed an interest.

    Can We Do It?

If the first pen had stood I reckon we won that game on the night and would be shooty in to finish it off. Less confident now but of course we can do it. At home we'll be able to play at a higher tempo and hopefully go for them.
  9. 1-0 is a concerning result, how we could rue that penalty miss. Didn't see what we got it for but the retake was a joke decision. Think we well capable of taking them but they did look dangerous on a few occasions. I hope we get a similar start to what we got against the Welsh but reckon it is going to be nip and tuck.
  10. Indeed the fact he was on that wage is the likely reason he would be looking around for something a bit closer and don't blame him, what we could and should limit ourself to offering be about half that or less depending on exchange rates. Fact is I don't think he worth that sort of money but we could do worse. After early impact I thought he tailed off, but if we want two holding midfielders we could do a lot worse, though not be my first choice.
  11. Bit of a bummer that we lost revenue but is the deal now roughly comparable to what we had last Setanta deal if not the new one? Still least it secured and allows for a bit of stability as don't see SKY/ESPN folding like Setanta.

Sadly unintentional, I rarely take time to read over what I type before I hit post

    Canterbury

Have read through the last few pages and I don't see anyone getting at the PSL boys. This is a Motherwell forum and people here are asking about how it might be affecting the club. It has then largely been cleared up to best of everyones ability and that is appreciated. My first reply on the subject was to say that initial statement does seem to cover the recent question posed. Because a company is in administration it becomes a crime to ask about supply issues? Got every sympathy for people working and affected by Canterbury's difficulties, presumably including PSL as they could face some negative consequences at least in short term as I sure revenue from a new kit is not something they want to see as a dent in their finances. So I got my fingers crossed that something is rescued from the administration process with the least amount of negative impact for all concerned but no need to jump down peoples throats asking questions, even if they appear to have been already answered. End of the day what is posted here isn't going to affect the process one way or another.
  14. Sad truth is that is indeed essentially factually accurate, least far as I can tell from what heard tell of the incident. And very likely if it wasn't Scott it would have been someone else reporting it. Think a lot of people hold the view that they wouldn't have put their name to it at the least, myself included, but none of us are in Scott's position.

There was a minor ambiguity. I assumed we had all the kit we needed, but lets face it we've all seen issues with communication from the club before. Generally much improved, but there is always a sense where you don't quite feel certain unless things are painted out in black and white. Something which has now been done, we have all the playing kit we need and as yet there are issues with future away replicas and Canterbury europes future, which will hopefully be resolved postively. I'm quite satisfied with that, I'd hope everyone else would be and as a forum this is the place to discuss any uncertainties you percieve irrespective of how other people might be viewing it. There no reason for people to get backs up, accuse people of sniping and conspiracy theories.

Some sensitive souls on here, some people were curious as to something that has now been cleared up. Very simply and easily.
  17. I think it does when you agree to work for the sun in any capacity, but I guess starting out you maybe feel you can't afford to be fussy.

The clubs initial statement siad we had enough kit delivered for all our teams. Have to assume that includes away kit as if it wasn't there we wouldn't have enough. Statement could have been slightly less ambiguous but seems to imply we have away kit for the players. How that leaves fans who wanted to buy a replica is another matter, would imagine might be humped on that front.

Not a whole lot regards to getting a game, but it does seem affect how much people would like him do well. So it says a lot for him and I hope he does do well for himself whether he stays or goes. I agree with general concensus that he hasn't really shown enough to be mourned as a loss if he goes but he definately contributed to the cause in his time and has been a bit unlucky not to get more of a sustained run in the team to really stake a claim. But that said every week in training and in reserve matches is the opportunity to stand out so he maybe just not done enough all round. Think he could do well in the 1st division and could be the sort of player that goes away and develops into a decent player but he does need regular games fairly soon if he is to establish himself anywhere.

Wouldn't touch Staunton with a bargepole but Paul Ince got the Blackburn job because he did a half decent job for Macclesfield and MK Dons. Think you being a bit harsh on him, he took Macclesfield from 7 points adrift at bottom of table to safety and then took MK Dons to a promotion and a diddy cup win.

I know was being slightly tongue in cheek, but you can see why it not something you'd trumpet from the rooftops. Does leave a manager wide open to criticism and extra scrutiny over transfer dealings.

I'd be a bit concerned about a clause like that. I mean when an offer comes in who knows what the manager might be thinking, extension to his house, a second holiday, new car.... A set in stone wage and bonus structure seems the way to go.

Sounds an absolute nightmare, hope you get back on your feet soon whoever ends up in charge. £200k is approx what we were meant to have been paying McGhee after we doubled his wages so that was BIG for us. Wonder if that sort of money is what we offering this time. Never heard of managers getting a percentage of transfer fees, can only assume it a fairly small percentage, I mean it not like they asked to contribute to fees of players they buy in.

So was he on a big wage? Given his previous club was Dundalk he surely wasn't that hard to tempt. Also given things were going well on the park and your man was working seemingly with relatively small budget, where has it all went wrong at Stockport?
  25. I'm sure he developed a deep affinity for the club in all the 4 games he played there. Hardly in the John Robertsonesque category.
