  1. Shame for him but given our injury crisis and the fact carswell has been carrying a knock, probably a good thing.
  2. If we go with the same line up as Friday, I can't see us winning. The shuffling of the team weakens us so much imo. If we go with a right back as opposed to hammell there, I would like to think murray might be given a shot but it will more likely be Reid. Would also like to see leitch get a chance, he is a centre or left mid isn't he? We lacked in energy down the left on Friday. Gunnar Murray/reid hutchy McManus hammell Ainsworth Lasley vigurs\carswell leitch Sutton McFadden Heart says 1-0 well, head says 2-1 st j.
  3. This!! That is my main criticism of McCall, despite the great job he has done, his juggling of the team at times like this baffles me. Take our starting line up last night for example.... Hammell at right back, zfa at left back and three centre mids in a midfield four. I don't see how that is better than playing an inexperienced right back who player for player isn't necessarily better, but allows the team to retain some sort of balance and consistency.
  4. Well I'm glad you at least opened your mind to the point I was trying to make. I can't be arsed repeating myself again. He was awful early season, much better recently and dont forget he was a class act when he rejoined last season. I massively disagree with those saying he is finished at SPL level.
  5. Riordan is a wee ned with a bad reputation off the park which makes him unpopular amongst most fans anyway so that is probably the worst example you could have given. Forget wages because neither of us know what he earns. If he was a nobody signed from the lower leagues of Scotland would you really be disappointed with his contribution since December?
  6. Agree to disagree I guess but I see it from a different angle. If he wasn't James mcfadden people wouldn't expect the unexpected and critics would be happier with his contributions since december. Good post from 'Noah dosser' a few posts back. The club really needs to address the young talent not getting their chance. However, if these guys genuinely aren't good enough then we have other issues needing addressed. Either way something needs to be done if we are to sell at least a player a season to keep financially stable.

I don't know because I don't know what wages he is on. Do you? And I don't mean what you assume him to be on. I agree that faddy is no longer the world beater he was 10 years ago but he still has a lot to offer in experience if nothing else. He still shows he has class, and you can't fault his effort. Utd made life difficult for him, no one notice ciftci doubling up on him second half? I said it in the other thread, forget the player he was, there is still a good player there.
  8. Agree with the comments about hutchy regressing this season. IMO he's making more errors than before. I thought first half of last season he was awesome but hasn't carried that through. Whether that's down to interest shown in him, hes possibly getting ahead of himself and taking more risks at the back. Having said that the pass back shouldn't have been a risk, thats back to the basics. Those that say faddy is finished at this level, are you for real?? He's not the world beater he was when he was 20, but since Christmas has still been one of our best players. He's been playing with his heart on his sleeve and showing some class. Forget his reputation and remove 'McFadden' from the back of his shirt and everyone would be happy with him. He's not the player he was at his peak but to suggest he is finished at SPL level is mental. And I don't know how many times I have said it this season but I don't know what we'd do without keith lasley. He's 35 later this year and still the fittest player at the club but unfortunately he won't last forever. Hope we have another gem like him in the youth ranks that can fill his boots one day.

Faddy and Keith show again. Voted Keith as I went for faddy last weekend.
  10. There is a big difference between throwing in a bunch of kids and giving a young player (right back/left mid for example) a chance, while still keeping shape and balance to the team when our squad is depleted. Bit of a disappointing trip but part of me expected it tbh.

    Partick Thistle

Had a better game. Not at fault for the goals at all. One ropey moment that I recall, it was a simple catch that he tried to punch and it ended up going backwards and out for a corner.

    Partick Thistle

Voted faddy just ahead of lasley. But for them, Higginbotham was unplayable at times, why Partick took him off is beyond me. No wonder they struggle to see games out if they take their best player off with 10 mins to go!
  13. Murray McManus Hutchison hammell Ainsworth lasley carswell vigurs McFadden Sutton Should be able to see off partick. What we worried about. Injury list may be long but only Ramsden is a regular starter (having said that we don't know who the couple doubtful ones are). 3-1 well.

    £46Pound 12Pence

Like your thinking but the club can't simply ask for £50 quid off each supporter. It would need to be put more elegantly. Just thinking aloud here but perhaps if the club published a leaflet to hand out annually summarising the clubs financial situation if there has been a shortfall, and what it will take to remedy that. For example...if every home fan (based on say 4500, or whatever) bought a strip and a scarf it would reduce the clubs financial debt by X percent. I am sure most fans are more than happy to spend a bit of money on the club...just need the encouragement to do it.
  15. Interesting statement and personally I think its largely down to the media and fans constantly talking the scottish game down and I find that frustrating. There has been plenty of success stories of players making the move south. Yes, failures too but no more than players south of the border moving north and failing to impact. I also think this negative mentality has an effect on TV deals, sponsorship and so on that the league has struggled with recently.
  16. Personally, I don't mind Friday football. It frees up the weekend a bit and I there seems to be a bit more atmosphere at the games. However, its not always ideal for long-journey away games. However I do sympathise with those who can't make it, particularly those who have bought season tickets.
  17. True, and I'm sure we'd be having a similar discussion if a first choice striker missed sitter after sitter, but at the moment the outstanding weakness in our team is between the sticks. Our strikers didn't let us down on saturday, or in general this season.
  18. Oh aye and one last point. He is lacking comfidence, thats easy to see but how long do we persist to allow him to regain it? Goalkeeper is the only position you cant really get away with confidence issues. Will this cost us a position or two in the league and the finance that goes with it? Some people on here are blaming him for the cup exit (not me btw).
  19. A lot of the same points seem to be cropping up... First, I don't think anyone here disagrees with the sentiment of not booing your own players. Yes, generally the keeper has to work when the rest of the team has not fully done their job...BUT THAT IS WHAT HE IS THERE FOR. Yes, a lot of people wanted neilsen in at the start of the season. Obviously they assumed him to be better than Hollis, he has a strong pedigree but also I'm sure most were thinking 'surely we haven't signed neilsen as backup'. No point in booing him or giving pelters at the game of course thats not going to help. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be discussing it as fans. It says a lot that a reserve first division keeper comes in for 5 games and creates a bigger rapport with our fans than our two first choice keepers.
  20. So he has played against top class players a couple times, he has never done it on a weekly basis so what's your point? By your logic we should be signing more faroese players because they have played internationally.
  21. I don't believe for a minute that Marshall isn't aware of and working on neilsens weaknesses. There is only so much a coach can do.
  22. His inability to deal with pretty much anything other than, on occasion, a direct shot is embarrassing. It puts so much more, unwanted pressure on the defence. I believe we would have won yesterday if twardzik, for example, had been playing. Obviously don't see them in training, but surely Stewart cant be much worse?
  23. I'm quite sure aluko got suspended retrospectively after diving to win a penalty for rangers a few seasons back, and O'Connor for hibs (which was then rescinded) so yes... Totally agree with your comment. A penalty or free kick should be given for a FOUL, not for simply contact. Stokes was about 10 yards past neilsen when he went down.
  24. Was surprised to see the red card come out but it must have been a bad one looking at carswells reaction to it, got right in stokes face and had a go at him. Thought the one at 2-0 on vigurs should have been a stick on red (tackle not as bad but prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity). Unsurprisingly madden bottled that one. Thought vigurs and mcfadden had good games. Lasley his usual self. Think ramsden might have made a difference today, Hammell at RB is not the answer, thought that when he played there against st mirren earlier in the season. Funny moment though was that nugget in the Celtic end shouting, on a couple of occasions, "ya sheep shaggin' bastards"! Don't think anyone even knew what to say!!
  25. I see gregg wylde has been released by aberdeen. Were we not in for him in the summer as well? Could we be interested again? Do we need him now?
