  1. Harry Who? No disrespect but I wouldn't just automatically try to retain Roberts. He's done well in a couple of games but I see in him someone that would probably be inconsistant over a season. I think we could potentially bring in a better player. A year long loan on Kelly would be nice.
  2. I'll no even be counting it as a win!
  3. Would have been nice to tick off either of those grounds. Ah well.
  4. Dunne is OK when he can use his size but he's absolutely rotten against anyone with a modicum of skill or technique. The absolute dismantling Mickey Johnson gave him at Celtic Park is one of the most embarrassing things I've seen happen to a Motherwell player. Basically he's not good enough unless you want to be rumbling around the relegation zone and that's not even taking into consideration his injury problems. We'd be mad to give him a contract. Cole has done pretty decent this season and has a good overall record. Since Watt basically can't score I do think we need someone else with goals in them. I'd keep Cole but we can't depend on him. He's probably not a 15 - 20 goals per season kind of guy. We need more firepower. Cole should be part of the equation but we need another part.
  5. Polworth looks like he's totally out the picture with Alexander so I think he'll be off. Personally, while he has a wee bit about him he's anonymous far too often and I would be scoring his name out with out much regret. Campbell has been a shadow of himself this season. He's 22 and has over 150 appearances so that shows you how much football he's played in a short space of time. Maybe the whole malaise around the club has affected him or he's just tired out because as I've said often for a lot of the time he's had to carry the team. I'm not entirely convinced he'll leave. He's not 'hot' right now and I have my suspicions about the level of the game he can play. He's been great for us over the piece but he's not English Premiership standard and even English Championship is a big step up these days. I don't think he'll have a bunch of great options - maybe Hearts or Hibs would take him. Whatever happens it's going to be a big year for his development as a player. He's been on the ascent then taken a dip and he needs to get back to where he was and push on again. Crawford to me seems 'adequate' in current times but if we want to move forward next season maybe we need a higher standard of player. Perhaps a squad player but not convinced he's first choice in a better team.
  6. Surprised Jamie Semple is only 19. It's difficult to make a judgement on Semple and Cornelius as we've seen so little of them. Sure you could keep both on youth terms for another season if you wanted to but you'd really be looking for them to make a break through next season. Foley - not sure why we signed him in the first place.
  7. Gallagher and probably O'Donnell will be off in the summer. Mugabi, I'd maybe retain him but more as cover than first choice.
  8. Based on previous results this season I'm making a point predictions. St Mirren 49 Dundee Utd 46 Motherwell 43 Kilmarnock 34 Hamilton 34 Ross County 32 The only team with a clean sweep this season is Dundee Utd over Ross County. In fact Ross County's record against the bottom 6 teams isn't great, in the last 31 matches they have only beaten bottom 6 teams twice while picking up points against Aberdeen, Hibs, Celtic and St. Johnstone.
  9. Fixtures are about as good as we could have got them. 3 home matches and 2 of them within the first three matches. Given we probably only need 1 win to be safe that gives us a decent chance to get the points on the board early. I've actually got a feeling St Mirren might flop in the post split matches. They have only won 4 in their last 16 and have only scored 2 goals in open play in the last eight (plus 2 penalties). If all else fails we have Ross County at home on the last day. I'm sure if you asked a lot of posters 'beat Ross County at home on the last day to stay up' they would have taken it but hopefully it'll be academic by that point.
  10. Was doing my stats there and noticed Kilmarnock have won 3 of their last 19 matches and 2 of them were against us.
  11. We realistically need one win. If we can't get one win then we don't deserve to stay up but I strongly suspect we'll be OK. Lot of work needs done though. We need a McGhee Mk I change of culture at the club. A professional bench mark needs set.
  12. We shouldn't be losing 4 goals to a poor Kilmarnock team. I was a bit worried that we didn't have a game last week. You get the impression some our players go into holiday mode pretty quickly.
  13. There was a case for it when we were on a winning run. There is no case for it next week.
  14. Has now leapt above Andy Roddie in club league goals.
  15. I don't like plastic pitches but I think clubs should be allowed to decided for themselves whether to have one or not, as long as it meets the requirements. I certainly don't want a situation where clubs are denied access to the top level for having a plastic pitch. Not only does it deny teams from promotion on merit (we've been down that road before) but it also probably just means grass pitches that aren't well maintained due to expense. We've seen that at Fir Park in the old Battle of the Somme days. Just cos it's grass doesn't necessarily mean it's better. The truth is in the long run we'll probably have one at Fir Park. Grass pitches are just too big an expense to be justified for clubs our size in the long run and at some point it will surely be cut out when the cost and benefits cross each other.
  16. Describing a 200+ career goal striker as pish is a real ooft moment but then following that up with by describing Stewart McKimmie as pish is hilarious. Won everything in the Scottish game multiple times, a European honour, three major international finals, 40 caps, 600+ club appearances. You'd get down on your knees and pray for McKimmie/Malpas as full backs in a modern day Scotland side. To be fair Graeme Sharp was absolutely pish for Scotland as were a lot of the Anglo players at that time (Brian McClair, David Speedie etc) who seemed to get picked over guys like John Robertson who didn't get capped until fairly late on in his career, McCoist who struggled for ages to get a regular start, Frank McGarvey who barely featured for Scotland and Frank McDougall who never even got a cap.
  17. Robinson 'unavailable for selection' today. 'Will Robinson play for the club again?' ' Don't know'
  18. Bruce Anderson out of contract at the end of the season. Done well at Accies, young, potential for development/sell on and he sounds like he's desperate for a chance to kick on. Not sure what the compensation rules are though. Wouldn't sign him as the main striker but I think he's a player with a wee bit of potential.
  19. I've not seen my girlfriend since 20th December and I think I've seen her maybe 5 or 6 times in the last year. It's infuriating as these idiots will probably send the R number back up again and further extend lock down. However I do think the police have a difficult job. There has to be a trade off between public health and public safety when you have thousands of boozed up cretins around. The government however is becoming a bit like the boy that cried wolf. They keep saying they are going to do something and don't. They are in a better position to take action than the police are.
  20. McInnes is a dreadful manager. I'd love to see this place if we'd 1 goal in 9 matches and 2 wins in 13. And that's with a much higher budget than the majority of the league. This is a guy that has regularly changed shape and personnel to defend as soon as they go 1-0 up, regardless of location or opponents. Now they can't even score. They have lost good players but basically as a manager McInnes is a dud. They have pretty much been dire for the last three seasons.
  21. Winning 5 out of the last 9 has had a pretty radical effect on our position though. We were shite before Alexander came in.
  22. Hibs have a better squad than the rest, they should be 3rd every day of the week. Aberdeen have lost most of their better players and McInnes is an absolutely dreadful manager so it wouldn't surprise me to see them in the mix next season with the rest of us.
