Like a few others who have posted I’ve been going to Fir Park since the mid to late 1960s. In that time there’s been lots of great highs and heartbreaking lows. However I can’t help feeling that for a few years now the club has fallen into an ever descending downward spiral. Other than our struggling on the playing side (which inevitably fluctuates from year to year) there are other worrying factors at play. We occupy a ground that’s been way past its best for a long time now and despite the large amounts of money shelled out on it in recent years it really isn’t fit for purpose anymore. It seems that the club has lacked and probably still does lack vision to deal with this. I think other than Dens Park our ground is the worst in the top flight. We still haven’t appointed a new CEO or found a new chairman and the club has been allowed to become rudderless for too long. By its the own admission the badly needs an injection of new investment. The recent attempt at trying to attract interested parties was a bit amateurish and seems to have been fruitless - other than a few people joining the Well Society. I always looked forward to the cup competitions but our recent performances in these have been mediocre and for the second year running we’ve been knocked out of the Scottish Cup by a team from a lower league. It may well be an age thing but going to games now has become more of a penance than a pleasure.

A great confidence boosting win with plenty of very good performances - only slightly tempered by the fact that they were utter pish. I think Andy Halliday has made a big difference. With him just in front of the defence he has provided much needed security and given Blair Spittal a platform to play off and show his creativity.

Just been reading through the posts on this topic and you’re all over it like a bad fitting suit. You seem to have a need to pass comment got on everything and I’ve yet to see anything constructive in your posts - which thankfully are brief - just having a pop at other posters whose views don’t conform to yours. You’d do well to remember that this is an open public forum and people are free to hold and express views different to you.

Presently, it seems to be only social media speculation that Spittal has agreed to join St. Mirren and I would not expect the club to comment on this. However it would be reasonable to assume they have ‘confronted’ him to ascertain if it is true and the reason for him wanting to leave; although it’s likely to be either for a bigger wage, a longer term contract or both.

I appreciate St. Johnstone are not a great benchmark but I thought today we were the better team by a long, chalk and just lacked a real cutting edge up front.

Our record in the league vs St. Johnstone away isn’t too bad: P78 W26 D22 L30 Win: 33%; Draw: 28%; Lose 39%
-
Our record versus Morton at Cappielow in ScottishCup: P2 W0 D1 L1 The loss was away back in 1922. The draw was a replay in 1991 which we won on penalties and went on to lift the cup.

You’re a regular riot!

FFS Motherwell try and play some football on the deck. Watch what Alloa do and try and emulate them.
-
Piss poor penalty. Hit at a nice height for the ‘keeper. Not out of the woods by a long way here.
-
I’d suggest they wouldn’t look out of place in the 2nd division.
-
They look as likely to score as us!
-
In a word. no!
-
If we lose this, and make no mistake that is a distinct possibility, will we ditch Kettlewell?
-
Agreed. It’s so obvious that we have no creativity from midfield and we’ve only got one recognised striker on the park. Honestly to say we’re poor is an understatement.
-
We are so laboured in possession and the only football being played is by Alloa who are quite neat and tidy on the ball. I really fear for us here.
-
In 15 competitive matches against Alloa we’ve won 11, drawn 3, lost 1 and scored 40 goals and conceded 11. Surely a home win? Ah but remember Albion Rovers!
-
Celtic won’t be allowing Montgomery to come to us just to warm the bench and will be expecting him to play from the get go. As for where he fits into Kettlewell’s plans that’s anyone’s guess. Like a few others I’m not for taking Halliday. No harm to the guy but he’s been a journeyman his entire career and at 32 he’s at the fag end of it. If Slattery hadn’t gotten injured we’d not be showing an interest. For me, the fact Livi, Accies and Ayr are the “others club” reported to be interested, speaks volumes and we should pass.

Just another bawheid in a long list of bawheids.

Bowing to superior knowledge!!
-
Yes that’s what I posted.

That’s easy. You don’t. I think the statements made by the present Chairman and CEO in December, albeit rather clumsily, made the point the club was seeking additional investment. This raised the obvious question as to what the strategy would be to do so. In this respect it would be reasonable to expect that the club would have a written business plan or strategy document as to what their approach was going to be to attract such investment.

As far as I can tell, there was nothing in the statement from the outgoing interim CE about other things being done. However if you have information or knowledge to the contrary please feel free to enlighten.
