  1. I think the key is in the first word. In fairness the posters say it is only a rumour and as such should be treated with extreme caution
  2. I think the breadth and variety of posts on this thread prove that no-one knows whats going on. The referees still haven't said what they want, according to the SPL and obviously no one here knows either. The refs seem to have withdrawn their services for good reason but are offering no solution, none at all. Also, the instigators of this crisis in the main are Celtic FC but the refs are quite happy to hurt many innocent parties in the main. By acting like this they stand to lose much of the support they have. They also have to realise that they too must up their game to earn more respect.
  3. I suspect it was down to the length of contract he was offered, if he was offered one. Also - a squad player at Fir Park as opposed to being a regular at Falkirk.
  4. Hows Alan Martin doing at Leeds? He moved on becasue we wouldn't give him his first team chance.
  5. Exactly. There are several angles to this debate with faults on both sides. No referee should be subject to abuse or threats and this is what Neil Lennon was up to lets be honest here. In committing these acts he was at best condoned by Celtic and at worst actively supported by Celtic. Death threats by fans are totally unacceptable. I have no problem with Celtic or any other club writing to the SFA, in private, to air concerns over conspiracies, providing they have hard evidence and Celtic have produced none - simply unfounded allegations. Contrary to what the redtops might print (or might not print) its Celtic and Celtic alone who have engineeered this crisis. For their part, referees have done themselves no favour over the years. Year in year out we've seen a catalogue of inconsistency and poor decision making. We all make the odd mistake and I can accept that. However, over the years there has been the odd bad egg, as there are in all occupations. Referees are no different to any other occupation in that respect. They have a duty to explain controversial decisions and to date to have failed to do so, hiding instead behind a cloak of secrecy and arrogance. Its high time video evidence was brought in to protect clubs, players, fans and yes referees.
  6. Thats about it. The cash is split 3 ways. One third on costs, and one third each to the two teams. Don't forget though that gate income from season ticket holders (paid to Dundee months ago) will also be taken into account.
  7. If Dundee do lose players in January it'll be at the end of the month. Injuries and suspensions aside they'll field a full strength side. Its more likely that we'll lose Blackman and Gow by the date of the tie.
  8. Thats my question exactly. What exactly do they want? The SFA is in no position to guarantee club officials' actions or behaviour, and certainly not those from Celtic. If the stike does go ahead, attendances will also drop drastically I'd imagine. Many fans will not want to strike break, irrespective of whether the action is legal or not.
  9. Don't worry, put that idea right out of your head. The game will be on.
  10. The 1963 Dundee game was at Dens Park and I'd guess there'd be something like 5,000 - 6,000 Well fans there. We were losing 1-0 late on when Joe McBride was lining up to take a free kick. He cleverly bent down low as he was placing the ball, picked out a gap in the corner of the goals about 30 cms wide, looked my father straight in the eye knowingly (we were standing at the front behind the west end goals) and then proceeded to plank the ball right in that gap. Sadly we lost the midweek replay, which was in the evening, at Fir Park.
  11. I've been waiting a good few years for this tie. Seen us play at Dens twice in the Cup in 1963 and 1988. Drew the first tie 1-1 with Joe McBride scoring with a late precision free kick and lost 2-0 in 1988. Many posters will recall these games. This will be a tricky tie though as Dundee have many wrongs to right. The whole of Scottish football, including MFC, is against them and this is their chance to stick one on us. Mediocre first division players could morph into world beaters for 90 minutes. One thing in our favour is that Dundee may be overconfident. Many Dee fans are already looking forward to the 5th round draw. Lets just accept that Dundee may be favourites and we'll do our talking on the pitch.
  12. No problem. Falkirk fans will tell us. Its wide left midfield or playing just behind 2 strikers.
  13. Some truth in that Grew. We've been lacking Mark McGhee's "dominant cente half" for some years now. It first became apparent to me, and a few others, during our 2005 CIS Cup run. I have a lot of time for Mark Reynolds, but as a left back not a centre back, and I believe that English sides think the same. He's simply not big enough or physical enough. That said we also lack a strong defensive midfielder to shield the defence. Our full backs too don't defend well enough and allow too many crosses to rain in on the cental defence and Dareen Randolph. Jim Gannon picked up on this weakness. In fairness Steven Saunders and Tom Hately are not right backs. For too long we've had automatic picks in defence and its time that changed.
  14. You could have written that back in 2004. For as long as I can remember thats been the case. Its no good having ball players like Gow, Humphrey and Murphy if we have no physical ball winners to feed them in the first place.
  15. Thats good news indeed. I'd always thought that we had between 2,000 and 2,500 season ticket holders. Hopefully a few more will invest in half season tickets.
  16. Yes, a good idea especially for those living some distance away from Lanarkshire.
  17. I'm with Fatcalf on this - a decision is not controversial unless the OF are involved. There's been the odd snippet about his perfomance last Saturday buts all. The media simply aren't interested in most clubs outside of the gruesome twosome.
  18. The club needs to promote its womens teams. We need to involve more women with the club both as spectators and players. Its only right therefore that the Official website should evote at least a page to its own female teams. They're doing well and MFC should recognise that.
  19. If you feel like that can't you just ask the Administrators to remove it?
  20. I'll go against the flow here and say John Ruddy, although both are good keepers. Of the two Ruddy is better in the air.
  21. Well it makes a change from our fans saying the same thing. For years now our fans have gone about Hibs and how good they are. Perhaps now we've seen through them.
  22. Certainly no game changing decisions, but he got several major calls wrong. We should have been given a first half penalty when Nick Blackman was brought down - soft admittedly but a penalty nonetheless. Someone then deliberately elbowed Chris Humphrey on the head right in front of the POD Stand and got off scot free. The keeper should also have been given a straight red card but escaped with a yellow. Can't complain too much though - a geat performance and 4 goal win. Happy days indeed. Some devastating attacking football which was a joy to watch.
  23. Kevin Kyle!!! Is that really how bad we are? I'm a bit surprised that Barry Douglas isn't in the Scotland squad yet - still I'm sure Craig Levein is watching him.
  24. Yes, he looked promising when he came on last night. Lets not forget he has never been 100% match fit since joining us and he's duw a chanceto show what he can do. As another poster, Welldaft, told me last night he's been scoring goals for fun in training. CB seems to be impressed with hm too.
  25. Interesting....the south end of the POD stand has bene cordoned off in recent weeks ostensibly because of...... repair work? Does anyone know? As I sit nearby in the centre stand will we be moved?
