  1. Others will correct me if I'm totally wrong, but I think Stevie Hammell was asked at the recent AGM if he'd want or benefit from an experienced manager/consultant/adviser to help him out and he rejected that out of hand. He also chose Brian Kerr to be his no 2. As far as I know this was Hammell's own choice.
  2. Booing a player of either team in most cases isn't right (exceptions being diving and inciting fans) but it maybe says more about the fan than the player. I don't mean that in a bad way. Many go to games as a release or an escape from everyday pressures. Its a way of letting off steam as is cheering or shouting. Not saying its right but thats the way it is for some.
  3. I don't know if it was possible but we should have been looking to tie him up some months ago.
  4. Hopefully we'll have a choice of at least 3 candidates. If not not the Directors should look at their short leet again.
  5. It does indeed Grizzly. Maybe your question should be addressed to the recently departed manager.
  6. Seemingly a shortlist of 3, including Jack Ross, if the media is to be believed.
  7. I didn't make the game last night but yes, it seems that we did have a better balance to the team and Kettlewell changed the formation. Whatever, it worked. The same players that we had available last Saturday.
  8. We were on a hiding to nothing there. In Partick's absence, St Mirren are media darlings in the Premiership.
  9. Yes a bit of both. A very valuable win. The dressing room was lost months ago.
  10. Would rather see Cornelius play in a more advanced role to support the strikers with his drive and energy.
  11. Good to see Dean Cornelius starting, but no Stuart McKinstry. A mixed bag of a team. McGinn is no central defender.
  12. Whilst some of the names being mentioned in the media give me the fear, I do wonder what kind of manager our fans want us to appoint. If we're going for experience, like many of us want, then its unlikely that the successful applicant would have a blemish free record. On the basis of that, Ian Murray has had one failure, at St Mirren, and Tom Wright one failure at Kilmarnock - I'm not necessarily advocating the latter by the way just an illustration of stats.
  13. I think there's merit in appointing someone on a temporary basis to get us out of the mire. That might not be the same type of manager to take us forward long term. What we need right now is an experienced motivator who can organise a team in a dogfight.
  14. Certainly merit in this idea Dosser. Over the past year, the club has appeared to be rudderless. Why that is I don't know. We haven't had a Head of Communications since Grant Russell moved on and its showed in the quantlty and quality of output. We're now looking for a new CEO, Manager and Assistant Manager. Do we have the full complement of coaching staff? In the past few months a rift has developed between the fanbase and the club. Although I don't have any direct knowledge of it, security seems to be an issue with many younger fans. However the Board's dithering over Stevie Hammell has annoyed and frustrated many fans including me and an unacceptable and unnecessary level of toxicity has been allowed to build up manifesting itself in the banners outside Fir Park and the unpleasant atmosphere at Starks Park yesterday (I get that some fans didn't want Stevie removed). This will take time to heal, but our club can't afford to alienate fans. I'm sure there are other issues which fans want to raise. As a first step, could the Society not get the ball rolling and reach out to fans to capture the moment and start to mend bridges. It shouldn't be a blame game but rather focus on putting things right. I would hope that it is well aware that there are issues that require fixing and quickly.
  15. Agreed Allan. The events of the past year and in particular over the past month or two have demonstrated that. For various reasons there's been a lack of leadership.
  16. My last words on the Hammell era as its time to move on. Many of us had doubts when he was appointed as a rookie manager, and unfortunately they were realised. The directors also need to review their own decisons over the past year or so, but in a positive way. Maybe changes in governance are required? Stevie Hammell should have been relieved of his duties over a month ago but the directors dithered and delayed and we've effectively lost 5 weeks in our relegation battle. The toxic atmosphere yesterday was entirely avoidable as El Grew suggested a week or so ago. Anyway we now have Stuart Kettlewell in charge temporarily. I hope we now headhunt a new manager and get the right man in quickly, although that won't be easy. The players too need to step up as well. We, the fans, must do our bit and get behind the club and team. I'd make a plea to get behind the players, especially the younger ones who need encouragement. As others have said a lot of soul searching now required throughout the club, but we move on. COYW.
  17. I see that the official statement says "The chairman and non-executive directors have begun the recruitment process to appoint the next manager." I hope that means that on this occasion we've broken with tradition and intend approaching specific targets rather than advertising and spreading the net wider. Some individuals might not want to apply for various reasons and would prefer to be approached.
  18. Try playing Dean Cornelius just behind KVV. A good box to box player who has the energy to support him.
  19. That was always going to be the case with this line up. No surprise at all. What were you expecting Coatsy?
  20. Not surprising with that line up. Now lost the inevitable goal.
  21. Thats about it. To make changes there you'd be shoehorning someone else in and putting a square peg in a round hole. Change for the sake of change.
  22. Interesting. The other alternative, who we brought in at the end of the window was a youth player from Brighton with virtually no first team experience. All this having known months ago that Penney was leaving. Not a good look.
  23. Two days and another home defeat further on are you still of the same opinion David?
