  1. Just back from a decent day out. Blaney for me, an impressive debut. Mandron did well in parts as did McKinstry and McGinn.
  2. That's exactly my position, the constant negativity from certain posters just wear you down. I'm more apathetic about our fans than I am about the team. Oh, and I'm going to Arbroath and this is my first post in this thread.
  3. You and I are obviously of a similar vintage. I would add T.C. (M'Lord) to your list of players I have seen personally. Cooper, Coyne & Graham all came to the club as established players, and without discounting their abilities, we didn't see the best of them at Fir Park. McFadden moved on before we saw the best of him but 48 caps and 16 goals in a pretty poor Scotland set up (with managers like Levein ) puts him right up there. Willie P also moved on, watching him in a Heart's strip was heart-breaking. So for me it would be Joe Wark, it still annoys me that he didn't get the international recognition he deserved. That all said, I can't offer an opinion on those I didn't see personally thus making this an impossible debate, an interesting one though.
  4. Tough call, no great failures and no real stand outs. Went with Slattery for pushing Shields out the road to get to the ball for his goal.
  5. No twitter links at the bottom, that will put Elon Musk in his place. 😁
  6. I remember him scoring the only goal in a 1-0 at Parkhead at new year circa 1978, my brother and I hadn't been at Parkhead before and ended up at the wrong end in amongst several thousand drunk twats, not easy trying not to laugh too hard for a full hour. Also featured prominently in a 5-4 win over Killie at Fir Park, one of my favourite all time 'Well games. Great wee player, RIP Jim.
  7. I agree wholeheartedly, I don't see it ever happening unfortunately. If it did though, the one proviso I would have is that they go completely, they would probably want their B-teams to play in Scotland as a safety net and our organising authorities (and probably the club boards) would bend over to accommodate them.
  8. The Dryburgh cup I think. I quite liked it, the whole, offside an inch inside your opponent's half has always annoyed me. Or in the case of a Hamilton v Partick game a year or so ago, about six feet inside your own half.
  9. Personally, I don't give a f@@k about Rangers, Celtic or European football. We have been going backwards for years and the TV money is only part of the equation. The biggest problem Scottish football have is that the SFA and League management only care about two clubs and whilst that situation remains, we will never be competitive in any way shape or form.
  10. Or when the keeper keeps a clean sheet and it isn't worthy of mention.

    Andy Bonnes

A huge relief for all his family and friends, great news.
  12. It was between Penney and Goss for me, went for Goss in the end as everything good generally goes through him.
  13. A choice between the full backs for me, Lamie would have been considered except for those two passes into the stands. Went for Penney in the end.
  14. Big handsome John Sutton. I can't believe I'm getting involved in this nonsense.
  15. The English window closes today. I don't know whether a Scottish club can sign someone who was in contract when the Scottish window shut or not but it is a possibility.
  16. I suspect KVV will get it for the hat-trick, but Tierney for me, lots of good close control and vision.
  17. I agree, for the first yellow that could be the case, the second yellow, I thought, was just a bit mistimed and probably only warranted a quiet word. Yes, just a typical Scottish refereeing performance in fact.
  18. Difficult choice this week as there was no great standout, for me it came down to a choice between McGinn and Sol. Went with McGinn as Sol still has a few loose touches in him, we got away with it this week but probably won't against better quality opposition. McGinn looks a very sensible bit of business now.
  19. Not a great performance today, but on balance we probably deserved the points (just). Nick Walsh's guessing game performance combined with Livi's determination to avoid playing football dragged the game down to somewhere about meh! The Livi defender completely obscured my view of the penalty decision but it did seem a bit harsh. Likewise, the two yellow cards probably merited one between them. I think Livi might be a bit peeved to say the least. That said, Livi offered pretty much nothing so stuff them.
  20. I am not trying to claim we were any good last year, but Livingstone, Hibs, Aberdeen, St. Mirren and Ross County (at least two of which have a vastly superior budget to ours) all had an opportunity to overhaul us when we were floundering, yet failed to do so. To extrapolate your argument, they were all just unlucky. The bottom line is that we had more points after 38 games than 7 other teams, and to use an old adage, the league table doesn't lie. You may think we didn't deserve to finish 5th, but if we didn't, then sure as hell the teams below us didn't.
  21. I can't believe you left Wayne Foster and Scott Crabbe off that list....... Although to be fair, you probably just lost track of the number of odious b@stards that played for Hearts then.
  22. That was the one I was thinking of too. Did Jim O'Rourke score four of our goals?
  23. Not to mention that Bobby Graham wasn't good enough for Liverpool, Peter Marinello wasn't good enough for Arsenal and Joe Wark wasn't good enough for Irvine Victoria.
  24. I apologise for my one liner. For what it is worth, I'm an old fart and have been watching the 'Well since 1967. I'm happy to admit to being the definition of a "Happy-clapper" and I start every season hoping to finish 10th or better, and I don't start thinking of anything other than avoiding relegation until (if) we reach 38 pts. Then I start looking up the league. I want to be entertained, and obviously last year wasn't great for that, but I would rather survive the season in the manner we did last year than play expansive football and lose every week. I also like to see our youth given a chance, although I appreciate that the need to survive in the top league sometimes impacts on the manager's ability to introduce younger players into the team. I don't really pay any attention to any team other than us, I don't follow English football, other than to keep half an eye on ex 'Well players for a season or two, EG Allan Campbell. This means I generally don't have much of an opinion on anyone we sign, like McGinn, because I have never bothered paying him any attention. I'll form that opinion once he is wearing C & A and he will get my support, as will all the team. Some posters apparent desire to see us struggle is completely baffling to me. Your last sentence is the most telling, which leads us right back to my original one liner.
