  1. You're right actually, not sure where I got the £5,000 figure from. Even so, £1,000 is a lot of money to invest in something with no physical return, isn't it?
  2. I doubt the offers we get in January will be better. In fact, I'd guess they'll be worse.
  3. I'm a fair bit behind in catching up with this thread, but this here is something I believe I (and others hopefully) could get behind; I'd be all over the Claret membership in this scenario, which is something I would never have dreamed of entertaining with a £5,000 lump sum required up front. The lump sum is what is turning people off in my opinion. I know very few people with that kind of money to invest, especially with no monetary return.
  4. You mean the people who still think that we're shooting for a top six finish, and who would consider that to be a successful season?
  5. Their best bet would maybe be to try and expand their numbers enough to start another section at the other end of the east.
  6. I've often thought that myself. All we've heard from the Scottish sports media this season is how good Aberdeen are, and how they're basically stick-ons for 2nd spot in the league. We never get any more than a brief mention, usually something like "and Motherwell will be in there as well", which is fucking ridiculous considering where we've placed the past two or three years. As I said, I'd take a point, but a win is certainly not out of the equation. We can go into any game against any team in this league not called Celtic confident of taking points.
  7. And if we had the team that won the cup in '91 we'd be serious contenders for the league title. Fantasy football is great, isn't it? Unfortunately, we have none of that. We have what we have, which is a decent team thus far with a bit of potential to improve. We're sitting joint 2nd at the start of November in a season where I'd consider a top six finish our realistic aim. That's not too bad, especially if you buy into the Scottish media's belief that this seasons Aberdeen are the 2nd coming of Fergie's Dons and McLeans United all rolled into one big red bundle, and that they are the only real contenders for 2nd spot. We're doing not too bad, and long may it continue.
  8. I would consider a point from this game to be a good result considering who we'll have missing.
  9. To be honest, we'd have all said the same thing after seeing how Hibs performed against Celtic. Most teams up their game against Celtic, so how United did yesterday will have no bearing on how they do against us. I think we'll take a point from them.
  10. Yet we're sitting joint 2nd. Calm the fuck down.
  11. Big Mick gets the nod from me.
  12. The simple answer is we keep plugging away in the hope of securing a top six finish. After a summer where we lost the likes of Randolph, Hateley, Law, Humphrey, Ojamaa & Higdon we were always going to fighting against the tide no matter who we brought in. We've had a great few seasons of late, but that run is over. We're a club who need to secure a top six finish. Simple as that really.
  13. You're feeling fairly enthusiastic for that early on a Wednesday morning!
  14. Hopefully we see young Moore get another run from the bench. He's certainly earned it thus far!
  15. Let's hope so. From a purely selfish standpoint I'd like to see more non-bigots games shown on telly.
  16. To be honest, after seeing who was leaving during the summer I was bracing myself for a battle to make the top six this season. Anything over and above that is a bonus in my eyes, so we're sitting very pretty at present I think.
  17. Yeah, I know that, I'm just saying that I can understand why the OP asked the question. Alba aren't known for their live broadcasts (even if I certainly won't be complaining).
  18. To be fair I think he's asking why it's being shown live rather than on delay like Alba usually do.
  19. If I remember correctly they play that over the tannoy before the defenders head up for a corner. Sort of like the cavalry or something I guess.
  20. An excellent comeback, and well done to Moore getting a goal on his league debut with his first touch!
  21. 0-0 half time then. By the sounds of it the officiating has been honking.
  22. Being a bit of a traditionalist when it comes football I saw sense in starting to follow the "local" team when I moved out here, so Malaga CF is the other club for me. It seems I've missed their glory year though
  23. Whilst the club may not be in the kind of trouble the likes of Hearts or the blue arse cheek are, they'll no doubt be looking to bolster the financial situation as best they can, so it makes sense to appeal to fans. If they had said "join the society, even though we're fine financially" I doubt they'd get much interest.
  24. I'd happily take a point from this game to be honest.
