  1. We have a genuine claim for that corner that resulted in a goal, and I'm glad to see McCall didn't let it go. Saying that, we were beaten by the better team today. An off day, but it happens. Onwards & upwards. The most important thing is cementing third place in the SPL, and a win next Saturday will go a long way to doing just that.
  2. I remember having this discussion when his contract was almost up. There was talk of moving him on for a decent fee then as well. I felt at the time that I'd rather have him for another year and lose him for nothing at the end of it if it benefited the club. I'd consider a good cup run, Champions League football and possibly 2nd place to be that benefit. If Jennings decides to leave at the end of his contract and take a good wage down south then he goes with my blessing & gratitude. He's been a good servant to the club since arriving almost three years ago.
  3. Exactly. The 12 SPL clubs are represented by a six man board that makes decisions on their behalf. That board features; Ralph Topping (chairman) Neil Doncaster (Chief Executive) Eric Riley (Celtic) Stephen Thompson (Dundee United) Derek Weir (Motherwell) Steven Brown (St Johnstone) These are the six men who have the final say on Rangers being allowed to transfer their SPL membership to a newco, and if so what sanctions are set against them for previous misconduct. Our vice-chairman is part of that six man board.
  4. This kind of opinion is the reason why the Scottish game will never change for the better. The problem we have is that there are more people who "don't care" as long as it doesn't affect them or their club directly than there is people who want to actually see the game improve.
  5. No surprise that this article has surfaced. We're playing Rangers in a couple of weeks in what could be a major factor in who finishes 2nd in the league.
  6. Indeed. Especially when you take into account the length of time a lot of those people have been supporting Motherwell. I'm into my 26th year as a game-attending 'Well fan and I'd be considered a newcomer by many who've admitted this newco business may be a step too far.
  7. If Rangers do go to the wall, and are voted back into the SPL then it simply confirms what many of us have thought since time began. Scottish football operates on an uneven playing field. There's the Old Firm, then the rest of us. Let's be honest, when it comes to anyone else going out of business, getting relegated or whatever we're all pretty much interchangeable as far as the SFA & SPL are concerned. If this goes through I reckon that this season may be the last for me.
  8. Fuck that. We're chasing a Champions League slot. We don't need any more games than we'll already have in the run-in to the end of the season. A nice, quick win over Aberdeen on Sunday will see me a happy man. In fact, two goals before half-time, followed by another early doors second half and McCall can hook some of our more influental players and "wrap them in cotton wool" until the following weekend.
  9. If Rangers do go into liquidation (and I don't think they will at this time) and the SPL board, which includes our own Derek Weir, votes to allow a newco straight back in I'll be bitterly disappointed. I'm not sure I could ever stop going to Fir Park though.
  10. He's currently under contract with Everton, who are more than likely paying him the kind of money we never could. If the chance arises I'm sure our management team would be glad to bring him back. I don't see that happening for a few years yet, and possibly never if his injury problems don't subside.
  11. For what it's worth, here's Craig Levein's take on the situation. How he manages to wrangle Peter Houston into the debate is a bit of a mystery though;
  12. Sorry Daz, but Humphrey doesn't unsettle what has been a pretty consistent midfield. If someone else ends up injured or suspended then he's surely overtaken Daley at the moment as the man to slot in, but he's an impact player from the bench at present.
  13. With it being all but confirmed that Rangers won't be playing in Europe next season I have to wonder if the attraction of a crack at the Champions League qualifiers or a Europa League place will convince any of our players who were maybe considering leaving in the summer to stay? I'm thinking about the likes of Randolph, Jennings & Murphy.
  14. Some decent offers in that Hibs deal there, and a few that our club would do well to look at for the coming season. I wouldn't mind us looking at; Free Cup Top Up - All league & Scottish cup games played at home are included in the season ticket if bought before a certain date. Free Tickets For Old Firm Games - Every season ticket holder is entitled to one free ticket for the home end for the visit of the Old Firm. I think our club offers a very good deal with our season tickets, but feel that taking the above schemes on board would be worth considering.
  15. Nice one. I'll have some money sent over by the end of next week hopefully, with the rest to follow.
  16. Am I right in saying that I can pay my contribution by installments over the next month or so?
  17. I see the SPL's resident moaning faced manager has been speaking about the new under 20 league that's being brought in by the SPL; In this instance I think Butcher is bang on the money. I know such a set up will have deeper implications for his side due to their location, but I really don't see why we can't have a traditional reserve league alongside a youth set-up.
  18. Nah, I wouldn't drop Murphy. He's nabbed two goals in our last four games, one of which included the 1-0 loss to Celtic so he's not doing too badly. Certainly not bad enough to get dropped.
  19. Who would you replace with Humphrey? I imagine that Lasley replaces Daley from the team that beat Dunfermline. As someone else said, I rate Humhprey above Daley at present, but he's an impact sub and nothing more.
  20. Agreed Andy, we need as many people as can possibly do so to sign up. As you said, the money doesn't all need to be paid up by March so it's best to get along and ask what the payment plans are.
  21. Don't get me wrong, I agree, but the fact of the matter is that football is a seated spectator sport these days. When people buy a ticket for a seat they are perfectly entitled to sit on their arses and watch the match however they see fit. The singing section at the final wasn't advertised as such to the general public, was it? If some Joe off the street went in to buy a ticket for him and his grandson was he told by the staff that this section was a singing section and most likely would involve people standing for a good chunk of the game?
  22. Yeah, I've got forms sitting in the house, but I'll probably come along to the evening anyway.
  23. Am I the only one who thought that the fact Hampden is all sitting was one of the reasons we had no atmosphere? If you stood up those people behind you could complain about not being able to see, and they were well within their rights to do so. They bought a seat, and as such don't expect the guy in front of them to be standing up most of the game.
  24. Well, that time of year is almost upon us again. How many folk are planning on renewing their season tickets? It'll also be interesting to see how the numbers differ from last year when people were buying tickets to ensure they got cup final tickets.
