  1. Sorry for being negative, but I'll go with the hard facts & figures rather than a write-up from Wikipedia. As others have mentioned, when he pulls on that Motherwell shirt he'll get my full support, and I really hope he comes in and does a job for us. At the moment though, I'm not impressed.
  2. Let's hope we never see anything like this happening in a Scottish game then. The police are likely to have a fucking fit.
  3. When we sign a player we can only go on his track record and recent performances. The fact that he got sent packing from the Australian league tells me that he's not about to rediscover his form from over ten years ago anytime soon. His record over the past ten years doesn't make for good reading; 2001-2004 Arsenal - 4 goals in 22 games 2003-2004 Everton (loan) - 0 goals in 18 games 2004-2006 Charlton - 3 goals in 20 games 2005 Rangers (loan) - 0 goals in 8 games 2006-2007 Blackburn - 0 goals in 10 games 2007 Ipswich (loan) - 4 goals in 9 games 2007-2010 Sheffield Wed - 5 goals in 54 games 2010-2011 Newcastle Jets - 1 goal in 9 games 150 games for eight clubs, with 17 goals in the space of ten years.

I'd rather we signed Stern John on a short-term deal than Franny Jeffers, that's for sure. At least he's got something of a decent reputation for scoring goals, and it would give him a chance to put himself on the map again for the summer transfer window.
  5. If this weather continues as it is I'll be very surprised if this game goes ahead tomorrow.

Fair point about McHugh, and I've posted my thoughts on Casagolda in the relevant thread. Sorry, but Jeffers doesn't fit the bill as far as I'm concerned. His record since he left Everton ten years ago has been terrible; 2001-2004 Arsenal - 4 goals in 22 games 2003-2004 Everton (loan) - 0 goals in 18 games 2004-2006 Charlton - 3 goals in 20 games 2005 Rangers (loan) - 0 goals in 8 games 2006-2007 Blackburn - 0 goals in 10 games 2007 Ipswich (loan) - 4 goals in 9 games 2007-2010 Sheffield Wed - 5 goals in 54 games 2010-2011 Newcastle Jets - 1 goal in 9 games 150 games, with 17 goals in the space of ten years.

At present we have Sutton, Murphy, Casagolda & McHugh, don't we? If a player of decent quality was available at a decent price & wage bracket, then fine. Jeffers doesn't fit into that mould for me.

    Casagolda

He's featured in a Motherwell shirt a total of nine times, and started only twice. His performances in training won't ever translate into goals in the first team unless he gets a run of games to show what he's worth. Hopefully he'll start against Stranraer on Saturday and manage to push on from there.

    Ins & Outs

Fuck the fox in the box. He's terrible. If he's not good enough to play in the Australian league, then he's not good enough for Motherwell.
  10. I'm sure the report on the official site said his hamstring went. Doubt he'll be playing on Saturday.

If Jeffers came up here he'd probably be our highest paid player. I'm not excited by the idea of him in Motherwell colours
  12. Right, this is a game that we need to win handily in order to improve confidence in the team. Three defeats on the bounce isn't good enough, and with Rangers & Aberdeen away coming up next we really need to get a few goals in this game. Despite what some may say, I'd go with pretty much the same team that played last night against Killie, which means that I'd give big Casagolda another runout to see if he can pick up the pace and put the ball in the net. Going on what I saw last night, I have faith that he can turn out to be a good player for us. He was popping up in the right positions, but just seemed a step off the pace. Hammell will probably be out after doing his hamstring last night, but apart from that I'd go with what we put out last night, which I think will be enough to see us through comfortably.

    Casagolda

I was encouraged by the fact that he was actually getting into goalscoring positions when the ball came into the box. He just doesn't seem sharp enough, which is understandable given his game time. I think he's worth a run for three or four games, to let us see how he gets on after a chance to bed in. I'd definately start with him on Saturday, as a goal or two could be what he needs to get him pushing on.
  14. I'm assuming the game is definately going ahead then?
  15. That's not what were actually getting though. It's pissing down.
  16. Are the gate prices the same as usual?
  17. Not sure if you were referring to me there, but that's Che in my avatar, not Fidel.
  18. There's no debate needed as to the relevance of the points he raises either.
  19. What I don't understand though, is why didn't the club just extend the working relationship to the Trust? Why the need for a new initiative, featuring people who no one knows anything about? I'm neutral when it comes to the controversial past of the Trust, but from what I've seen of them in recent times they have gotten their act together and seem to be doing some decent work.
  20. Do we ever get to know the identities of the people on this committee? Or will it forever be known as simply 'The MFC Supporters Advisory Committee'? For all we know there may not even be any fans on this!
  21. I couldn't agree more. We need to pick up at least four points from these three games I reckon.

That report from the Record at least indicates that he's been trying to sign players, which is a good thing at least. Most of those targets that he said we missed out on were for reasons outwith our control, so fair play to him in that respect.
  23. For anyone who can't make the game tomorrow night, it's being shown in full at 10pm on BBC Alba.
