    Maurice Ross ?

Aye, he didn't look out of place today, even if he did look a little bit unfit.
  2. Here's hoping that wee Broon can get his boys sorted out to beat Celtic in the semi-final, eh?
  3. Aye, but I left sharp after the whistle as I'm off out tonight. Never heard about the ruck until I got home and stuck on the radio.
  4. What happened with Broon and big John? I missed it.
  5. Is Mo Ross available for todays game? Or is he not fit?
  6. I think that some people doubt the interest in the "cup crowd" in turning up to regular league matches, regardless of the price. I can only speak of my own experiences. At the United game midweek my other half was with me, and at least six of the eight lapsed 'Well fans I know quite well were also there. My other half was really up for going to todays game, but changed her mind when she heard that the seat that cost her £10 midweek will cost her £22 today. She's just fucked off into Glasgow to meet her friends instead. She then asked me if the prices would be "back to normal" for the United game this coming midweek, and again I had to tell her that this wasn't the case, so she'll likely not be at that game either. Once it get's to next weekend the enthusiasm she got from the 3-0 win will have all but died out. Although not as important as attending the games themselves, I'd also like to point out that she went into the club shop before the game on Wednesday and bought a 'Well scarf for the game, and spotted a few other things (roughly costing thirty odd quid) that she was going to buy "at the next game if I like this one today". Needless to say she won't be spending that money in the club shop. The other guys who are 'Well fans that were at the United game won't be at the game today either. One has his kids on a Saturday which is fair enough, and the others were grumbling about the price.
  7. I'm not saying that I personally would disrupt the team, but I can't see McCall leaving Craigan out if he's fit & ready to go.
  8. The problem is, if we aren't enticing new people into the games then there are no new "die hards" being created, are there? Once the current crowd of die-hards get older and stop going for whatever reason, what happens then? We'll see our crowd dwindling. Football simply has to accept that it can't live in a bubble. It's competing with other weekend activities for their customers money. Like any other industry that doesn't modernise and move with the times, it'll eventually pay the price.
  9. I had completely forgotten it was on the telly. We'll be lucky to get a half-decent turnout then, especially at those prices. The stadium could end up more than half empty
  10. Especially if it's against Celtic, as they'll be mumping & moaning no doubt about wanting the majority of the tickets.
  11. Are you being serious? You think that the crowds would slip back to the average unless we started playing like Barcelona? Think how many 'Well fans there are out there who don't go to games regular because of the pricing. I know of at least eight of them, all of whom were at the game last night. They would all be at the Aberdeen game if pricing was £12 or so. It isn't, so they won't be. The momentum that we could have gained from that win last night will be lost after this weekend. If you take into account the neutrals who came along and really enjoyed themselves too, such as my other half, you would see an increase in attendance. Sure, it may spike initially then drop off slightly, but as someone said, it'll take a prolonged period of lower prices, where people start to realise that the cost of going is not as much as they thought originally. The bottom line is, we can either look at changing our pricing structure and try to get some fresh skulls through the gates, or we can do fuck all and continue to see dwindling attendances. That's the options we have.
  12. My thoughts as well. A trip to Hampden is always something special, whilst a trip to Edinburgh is a hassle more than anything else.
  13. Rather than start a new topic I've just edited the title of this one, as the discussion sort of follows on really. The question I'm asking is, would you like to see Jeffers offered a new deal for next season? Now, I know he'll likely not be hanging around, but for discussions sake let's imagine that he wants to stay, and on the same money as well. Has he done enough in his stint here to prove to you that he's worth a contract beyond this season? Does he need to play a major part in securing top six before you'd want to offer him a new deal? Or do you just think he's pish and not worth it regardless?
  14. Going on recent form we should steel ourselves for a gubbing this weekend! Hopefully that won't be the case though, as I feel that a top six finish will be instrumental in tying up some of the guys who are out of contract at the end of the season. If the lads can't take the confidence from last night and push on against auld Broon's lot this weekend then I don't know what kind of motivation it'll take. I'd start with pretty much the same eleven, with the only change probably being the return of Craigan at the back. Murphy & Jeffers have to start though, I've no doubt about that.
  15. Not in my case. We could be playing Odense in Europe this weekend and the other half wouldn't pay £22 for it. As she put it, she could go to a decent show in Glasgow for that and she would be sitting indoors in a comfy seat with a guaranteed performance, or pay even less to go to the cinema then a coffee afterwards. Listening to her was interesting, as it was the opinion of a person who was at the game that isn't a "die-hard" who'll pay over the top prices for a less than stellar product. She simply doesn't think that £22 to watch Scottish football is value for money, and regardless of whatever excuses the club has for not charging less on a weekly basis, the harsh truth is we'll get the same crowd (and that will eventually decrease over the next year or so) unless we sort our pricing out. The only people who'll pay current prices are mugs like all of you & me
  16. I've just come home from a game that saw a crowd of just under 9,000. A game on a relatively cold, damp Wednesday night. I took my other half with me to her first Motherwell game, and she fucking loved it. As soon as we got back to the car she asked me when the next game was, and was well up for going to the Aberdeen game. When I told her that her £10 seat in the O'Donnell stand will cost her £22 on Saturday she suddenly lost the enthusiasm to go. I wonder how many others will be saying the same thing after tonights game? This would have been an excellent opportunity for the club to kick on and get some new bodies through the turnstiles, but I guarantee that when I plank my arse in my east stand seat on Saturday it'll be back to the usual attendance. It's frustrating as hell
  17. This game determines if our season is going to be over by the end of March. Simple as that. We may make the top six, but even if we do we aren't going to be competing for anything.
  18. I'd actually prefer if he sent out an email before a game rather than after it. At least he can be positive and do his best to drum up support & enthusiasm for the upcoming game.
  19. I assumed you were hitting me with some sarcastic humour there. Apologies if that wasn't the case. Good idea though.
  20. Couldn't you just update one of the other ebay threads you've already created rather than starting a new one every time?
  21. It's as fair & sensible as those who are questioning Stuart McCall's ability to do the job after less than three months in the position.
