  1. Lazy examples from Canning. We don't have a bowling green but Dundee, Thistle and Aberdeen are just 3 off the top of my head that I have seen that are worse than ours this year...and by a far distance.
  2. I quite like the look of your suggestion capt oats: Ripley Law Hall McManus Hammell Gomis (or Cadden) Lasley Pearson McFadden Moult McDonald Every team knows Johnson is our outlet at the moment. Wouldn't harm to rest him and I think McFadden did offer something in regards link up play the past 2 games. Probably go Cadden instead of Gomis and tell Lasley to sit. If Cadden and Pearo put in a hard running shift back to front and you have 1 of the top 2 dropping back at times while McFadden floats about then the formation might not be as narrow as feared.
  3. Noticed all the St Johnstone kids running towards that way when I was walking to the car. Wondered what was happening and if anything had kicked off.
  4. The players knew what to do. They did it during the game before the goal and closed both the St Johnstone players down fine. All that happened was somebody switched off which led to another making a rash decision. You can coach folk all you want but shit like that happens and when we have young players such as Laing, Cadden it will happen. We just need to learn from it and not do it again. As for the last minute goals...they have been for a few different reasons. But one trend is players making bad decisions when they should be fully concentrating, not standing off and keeping the tight. That can be improved by concentration and drilling it in to the players.

    Mark McGhee

What a load of shite. If they were out the night before the match, or before training, or stumbling about absolutely pished then mayb warrants a comment. This? It disnae.
  6. Hoofing the ball up the park is a tactic. We can argue about how well it is executed but the manager would be shouting them down if he was not happy with them doing it....and he has not been at any point.
  7. There was nothing in it at Firhill except a cruel deflection. I think we will edge this with home advantage and a decent playing surface. If we go in to the last 10 mins level we must keep things simple, close down every man and not give away silly free kicks or corners. We also have to possibly bite the bullet and not be pushing for a winning goal...not be overly defensive though at the same time....the stands around fir park won't like it but we have to stop these goals.
  8. You got that from one tweet? Which incidentally was just a picture of the rangers game on a tv and had no words....or is it a different one?
  9. Aye the pitch up a st Johnstone was very poor I thought. Very bobbly and cutting up.
  10. Theye were the bookies favourites an they are usually right...
  11. Not long in. A dire game in general with little skill on show from either team. -1st half, I thought we edged it. Did not show too much but for a good 35 mins had most of the forward play. Lovely corner from Faddy and finish. -2nd half, we changed to 4-4-2. Not sure if Faddy was injured as he took a couple of heavy knocks or if McGhee decided he had to deal with the threat on the left from Craig and Wotherspoon, which was where the goal game from and was really their only outlet. It did quieten them down but we lost control of midfield and were second to every ball and tackle. Lots of effort from Cadden, Johnson, Moult and Fletcher but no real quality. Would have taken a draw at 80 mins on the clock. The last minute goal.....a poor throw from Ripley which he should not have made, a rash challenge by Hall which he should not have made and Hammel out jumped. Simple as that and off we went home. Dont think there was much in it at all again...very frustrating.
  12. They were getting it tight on the radio last night.
  13. He gets stick from the idiots who can't separate the guy who set up a forum and website with a guy years later who moved into a media position and then moved on into a general manager position. The same people also don't usually understand the difference in our club between general manager/chief exec/chairman which, when it was recently restructured made it clear what the board and chairman where responsible for and where the GM sat within that too.
  14. I am quite happy with my matchday experience in the POD stand. Decent seat, no hassle, no queue when I go to the pie stand, decent pie most of the time. All I need is some decent football to watch. I dont really expect anymore from a football match. I dont particularly want to be able to booze during the game, but would be nice to have the option. Dont want to stand all game either, nor have to because people are standing in front of me. Having dedicated and official sections around the ground must be the best way forward to cater for the different needs.
  15. Lost our #swag. Beat comment in here in years. 10/10

    Relegation

I dont think you will be too far off with that G&F. I do think we need to put positions to the side (for now...) because basically any team from 4th to 10th can realistically be dragged into the playoff fight if they lose few on the bounce and another wins a few on the bounce. Post split will be very interesting as I think it will very tight and with team playing each other will come down to the head to heads probably. In summary, lets win all our remaining games pre split. Cheers Motherwell.
  17. Spot on. His flaws frustrate me but when not there you see the difference. I thought his time was up about 4 years ago but he keeps turning in solid performances time and time again. I do agree he does seem to tire towards ends of games now and again and that's where we should start bleeding in terms replacement/alternatives. He is 36, 37 in September. Will be very surprised if he is not in a Motherwell shirt for another year. Unless he chooses to retire.
  18. I would prefer we manage to get Thomas into the team first before getting someone else in very similar to him, in my eyes.
  19. No wins in 10 all comps. Last win Dec 5th. Horrendous run.
  20. For me Faddy can only play in the hole behind the striker or up top. Days on the wing are over due to the severe lack of pace. Don't know what I would so with the team come Saturday. Decisions.
  21. Not taking anything away from the younger players but the correct mix needs to be achieved. Experienced players are key. Evidenced by last night's goals and assists column in part. What last night for me proved was we can drop some 'senior' players and still play well. But we couldn't get rid of them all.
  22. I wouldn't say absolute gifts...like every goal they could have defended better but 3 good finishes.
  23. Aye, Soccerway has him on 112 in total. 98 league, 10 domestic cup appearances inc playoffs and 4 euro cups appearances.
