  1. Yep - even just from the discussions and different view point on here it's clearly not a simple decision to make. Glad I an just flap my gums about it and not have to make the actual decision!
  2. I agree with most, if not all, you are saying Brazilian. In short my point is we need to forecast and budget much better than we have in the past. But, that does not mean we have to budget for the lowest possible outcome in league/cup/advertising/ticket sales etc.
  3. What does not spending more than we bring actually mean though? High level that is easy to say but in practicalities... Does it mean we only spend what we are guaranteed in any one season? So, that is the prize and TV money for 12th place. If we target 11th it's not guaranteed. We only spend season ticket money once it's actually banked? Same for advertising money and hospitality throughout the season? Or does it means we do the above but also spend money we hopefully have extra from the previous season? So our outgoings will be more than then incoming technically as we are working from our reserve banked. A rather crude way to look at it - but my point is we will always have to forecast elements of the budget every year (e.g. a minimum but not guaranteed season ticket and advertising income). We need to have a better more balanced forecast that blends a prudent outlook but also gives the chance to succeed and do better than targeted. Targeting top 6 and semifinals of cups is mad. But say target 7th and quarter finals perhaps? I don't know but there is a better way to do it than just say we target lowest possible outcomes.
  4. Would like a home game against a team we are able to beat. That is all.
  5. Grimshaw for me. Ran all game, tackled and had a lot of good forward play and passing. Compare that to his last home game where he looked nervous and continually passed it sideways. The midfield in general were very competitive and gave us a good platform. Johnson, Skippy, Moult a close second. For me the only one who was less than good was a shaky Kennedy. Everyone else played well.
  6. Good entertaining game I thought today. Draw about right so will take that. Either team could have nicked it but hearts looked more likely near the end as we did run out of steam, as mentioned. A lot of good performances.
  7. Well done to the ground staff today for keeping the game in...been pishing down. Glad to swe some experience available for today. Hearts will likely be 4-4-2 so I would match up but have a plan B to be able to change to midfield 3. Would go: Ripley Law Kennedy McManus Hammell Ainsworth Las Grimshaw Pearson Moult McDonald
  8. The risk, on the other hand with going worst case scenario, is that our budget is so tight we get outbid for decent players the scouts find, squad quality gets worse, don't finish higher than 9th regularly, never get that regular cub run and that snowballs itself into never attracting players and a continued malaise. There needs to be a balance - like I said before. It can't be shooting for the stars and it can't be worst case scenario planning. We need to have something in the middle that if things go wrong then losses are not completely unmanageable and also things like making a loss when finishing 2nd...like what happened before...can never happen again! Needs to be managed risk - it's the only way we will grow.
  9. Leitch is getting a chance to impress in the 20's and the games I have seen he hasn't really done that. Not writing him off at all but he needs to do a bit more for a player. Needs to kick on. The 3 mentioned above as well as McMillan and Watt are the ones I am always usually impressed by.
  10. Samson came after the period these financial results cover so can't really be figured in to the equation if you are being fair. Especially when we have +£700k received in fees since those results.
  11. I agree with this. There needs to be a balance found with budget and targets, which are a stretch so we improve. But also not too much of a stretch and unreasonable in that we are in a heavy loss if we fail. Investing correctly and taking reasonable risks is what sets out the better clubs from the rest and lets them grow. We need to be better at all of that and hopefully Les's 5 year plan willl make that happen. If we set a budget to target for 3rd bottom and out the cups at the first time of asking we are setting ourselves up to do exactly that.
  12. Welll, one thing, we have been in administration once - due to a wealthy businessman chasing the dream. In an ideal world we would have wealthy majority shareholder. But realistically, Boyle tried to sell for years and couldn't to someone suitable.
  13. They are just sent to shareholders so I don't think there is a link online yet. Companies house will publish at some point though.
  14. It's all part of fan ownership week in the run up the hearts game. Nothing has changed.
  15. Yep, absolutely. Talk from some folks earlier on of apalling mismanagement and complete clearout top to bottom required is a bit off the mark. Need to keep a mid term lens on it all (the 5 year plan you refer)
  16. Not nice headline reading but I am sure the club have been well aware of the position that end of year accounts would show for a good while. So, it wont be a surprise. Couple of thoughts: - Loss in TV income a biggie from previous year, drop of about £900k. Just shows the difference league placing makes and also how important it is to have your projections correct for both league and cup. - +£700k from players sales/development fees etc will be showing in next years accounts and didnt show this year due to the cut off. So, by this time next year we could be crowing about making profit or breaking even. - Did people really think we would be posting a break even or profit this year given we took loans of c £1m? We may be getting close to running better (See notes on he significantly reduced wage bill) and towards a break even basis but it was never going to show in this years accounts.
  17. Cadden got some time against Ross County also.
  18. Interesting. I could see him maybe wanting to focus on the first team but if that is right then that is ridiculous. Do they not all train together anyway no?
  19. McMillan played right back in the last game. Watt was in the centre. I think Livingstone left back.
  20. Let's give them to the end of the match. A goal could change everything. Everything.
  21. How is the team setup for those up there? Taylor at left back?
