Similar to the space Vigurs got at the back post at Fir Park...I think they have saw that and exploited it again.
-
Not the way we setup on Saturday. Johnson was on the front post and Lasley on the back. To be fair to Cadden, he is marking their number 2 who starts a front post run and stops, with Jackson making a deep run at the back from well outside the 18 yard box. Cadden goes with the number 2 then notices Irvine, changes his mind too late to go back and try and mark Irvine and is left in no man's land. Also, have a look at Pearson just before the corner. He is standing near Cadden and the group of players but has no one to mark, looks over his left shoulder towards the area Irvine appears while taking up a spot on the 6th yard box marking no one. So, I think it's a bit simplistic to say Cadden lost his man in Irvine. If he hadn't attempted to go back know we would probably be just saying someone was meant to be watching that run. He was the closest player I the end but also was marking someone else. Pearson, or Lasley at the back post, should have been quicker off the mark perhaps also to shut down that space. Lasley does make an attempt to be fair.

Good move for both parties. He will maybe play some football that he wasnt going to get with us and frees up a wage.
-
I am sure someone posted in here tbat Irvine is apparently on more in wages than we were prepared to pay in our current structure. Overheard a club official at a game.

Thought Chambers was as average as everyone else on the park. No worse no better. He has a chronic lack of pace which just ain't good for a full back and makes me think he won't last long term. Does have tidy feet when he gets going though.
-
Accies and ourselves are on 25 already. 2 games in hand over them and Killin though.
-
Couldn't agree more. Thought Skippy was very poor today! A lot of average performances today. Went for Las - all over the park tackling and blocking and a great shot at the end.
-
They weren't forced on him at all. All he had to do was put a midfielder in centre midfield rather than change everything else. Law is injured Anyway...just saw the team. Kennedy and Camden in. Sense prevails.

I have said it another thread, but I am acruelly a Mgheen fan....so no agwnds here. However, if he plays the same back 4 as he did last week then he is an idiot or stubborn or both!

Scotsman....grain of salt time... ‘Well braced for Johnson bid BOURNEMOUTH are preparing a bid for Motherwell winger Marvin Johnson, believed to be in the region of £1 million. The former Kidderminster star has made over 30 appearances for Motherwell but could be tempted by the English Premier League. My fear also

Am I right in saying Jack Smith, of EK, son Andy, was on our books until fairly recently? Or did I make that up? Not that I am saying we shouldn't have released him if we did or anything. Just out of interest.
-
Do people genuinely think Bournemouth are interested????
-
I don't think it's going to happen anyway so probably a moot point. But, would I pay 400k for him right now? No. Would I have paid the money clubs did from Hendrie, Andreu etc...no. I think in the current climate we could get more.
-
Aye - just read a bit more on the SFA statement. More a draft loan system for youth between Premiership and Championship teams. Suppose it forces clubs to loan out but would it force them to play them? So we could for example have to farm out 5 playears who then don't get a game?
-
Sbcmfc, if you would accept 400k for one of our currently most sellable assets with 2 and a half years left to go on his deal then thank goodness you are not involved in the club decision (hopefully!). Couldn't agree more Capt Oats, on your post. In the grand scheme of things and recent transfers between SPFL and England...400k is light.

Ha. Very true. Skippy up top. I'd bring in Kennedy at right back in place of Law. It does leave us very inexperienced down the right hand side with Cadden/Kennedy/Hall in my 4-4-2. So, Lasley will have a big role to play there. It does worry me slightly we might see Hammell at right back again.....
-
Terrible team/positional selection aside there were some really bad performances individually at Tynecastle. However, I would be willing to give most the benefit of the doubt given they are the ones who took us on 6 game unbeaten run. No formation change required. Ripley Law Hall McManus Hammell Cadden Lasley Pearson Johnson Moult McManus Other options: - Ainsworth instead of Cadden. 2 out and out wingers is a risk but with the other players back in their normal positions it could be a risk worth taking. Or leave it as an option for the 2nd half maybe. - Move Johnson to the right, Pearson out left like he played up at Pittodrie and Cadden (or another) in beside Lasley. Could be more solid without asking players to play in positions they have not before.

Looks like your right about the clear out. I always liked the look of Dow as well.
-
Yeah I think you are right. It's always fascinated me as well and is a good model I think. For it to work here it would have to be the same, maybe using the centres of excellence they have dotted about the place now (or whatever they are called). Think it will be hard to get it to work properly here. Won't work if each club gets to just pick the 5 players to put in to the draft pot like article suggests. Plus I bet it would be challenged by players parents and even law makers....imagine being 14 from Aberdeen and being told you are being papped off to Kilmarnock....

To be fair his brother seems to have been a church elder for years. But still...just gie us the money Les! Back on topic: Aidan Connolly released by Dundee Utd. Always thought he looked useful but can't say I know much of how he played game in game out.
-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35368472 If done properly and not a half baked attempt this could be interesting.
-
Off topic, but Les and wife have just gifted (not loaned) 600k to bothwell parish church for its restoration. So they can't need his money he input to us back that quickly and therefore we should be negotiating for more here from Bournemouth. Add in his a key player with over 2 years to go and 400k should be a non starter.

The world is on it's arse if ZFA signs for Hamburg!

Pearson only came to us at about 16 as well I am sure. Picked him up after he was playing in the Scottish schools final or something. I think if you come to us and play in the age groups like Steelboy said then you count as our youth setup. Wether that's u13 or u17.
