  1. If I remember rightly McGhee got rid of Mensing as quickly as possible during his first spell in charge when it became obvious he was never going to have the athleticism McGhee was looking for. He always seemed to play better for Accies against us than he had ever done for us. He seemed to have slowed up but still had a decent game when we played Livingston a few years ago but I'm still amazed he's got a team in US.
  2. Reid strikes me as the type of player that McGhee could maybe do something with so it wouldn't surprise me either. Or he's already made his mind up to try and move him on. The one thing that would surprise me would be if we just held on to him and didn't use him at all (unless injury means he does nothing). As for signings, McGhee said in his post match interview that he's looking to strengthen the team, not the bench, so I'm hoping for quality rather than quantity. Although if we are looking at loans that's a very difficult thing to get right.

I think that was a Kirk header at the front post from a corner for the og - right in front of our support.

I admit to being on the verge of tears leaving the ground (emotional teenager in those days). I had no idea the highlights are available on YouTube - not sure I should put myself through it again but will watch it when I get home tonight just to see if Walker's dummy is as outrageous as I remember.
  5. I see the Evening Times went to the effort of watching McGhee's post-match interview on the club website.

    Mark McGhee

All things claret and amber for this ensemble!
  7. Is Sunday's Ross County v Aberdeen game missing?
  8. Was Laing not used in addition to the midfield pairing. I could only see him playing if Ainsworth doesn't and we put in someone else like Leitch or Cadden who might be able to help with the ddefensive side more than Ainsworth.
  9. What you are doing is entirely reasonable. Unfortunately it seems the actions of a small number (or even one individual) are ruining things for everyone. When the seating was originally put into the East Stand I had a season ticket about three rows from the back and in those days the majority of seats around me were taken, including the back row. It may well be that some people have stayed in the same seats through habit over the years even although there may be better views elsewhere - let's face it, people don't like change.
  10. Nathan Thomas doesn't seem to have settled at Mansfield and has now moved on to Hartlepool.
  11. I've not made anything up - that view was based on comments I've read on this forum over the years. I stated at the very beginning that I don't sit in the East Stand so I don't know exactly how the standing situation has developed - if I'm wrong in this case, I'm more than happy to be corrected. Please explain because that would help.
  12. I used to sit in the East Stand but moved to the Cooper some years ago. My understanding is that the club accepted people standing in the end section and this developed to people also standing behind that section. This seems to have been popular and it has spread to people standing behind the backs of other areas where people are sitting. Are you now saying that etiquette requires people that have been sitting in these areas for some time to move or stand up because people are standing behind them? Perhaps the situation has developed differently but it doesn't appear to me that it is the sitting fans that should be considering etiquette. The incident detailed by WellEast is horrible but it would not surprise me if there have been other complaints to the club by fans who have not wished to complain to stewards due to fears of similar reactions. (Edited to correct making an arse of quoting).
  13. That's the sort of incident that I was assuming behind this. Unfortunately there are some people in life, and particularly at the football, who don't seem to be able to act like normal human beings and who ruin things for everyone else. People who think they can always do what they want and that anyone who asks in a reasonable manner for something else is fair game for abuse. I've seen it plenty of times at the football and always wonder how they survive normal life without being arrested on a regular basis.
  14. There would be similar carnage for a number of the possible away venues.
  15. Being asked to move or having stuff dropped on you? Both reasons given above seem like valid complaints from people sitting in the back row. If you're asked not to stand there then move on to somewhere else where you can stand - I don't see the issue here.
  16. I read a post last night saying there was 1-2 inches near Fir Park. The snow seems very localised. I live in Glasgow but went out to Hamilton last night. The first I saw of snow was when I got onto the M74. Hamilton had a reasonable covering and I heard reports of buses getting stuck but there hasn't been any sign of snow in Glasgow (much to my kids' disgust).
  17. Yes people were still pissed off but Celtic paid a hell of a lot of money for Phil O'Donnel which certainly helped considering some of the paltry transfer fees received for the likes of McLair and Walker.
  18. As you say, we'll never see those days again. Out of interest, on the rare occasion a manager was sacked did they respect the chairman's decision and move on? If the manager was doing badly enough to get sacked there must have been dissenting voices. Surely?
  19. I'll give you Dundee but I doubt Aberdeen are much closer, if at all, to Methil than Motherwell. He looked a good prospect but Dundee strike me as having the best track record of the three mentioned at bringing players through from lower divisions and that might influence any decision he has to make.
  20. Cheers - I was barking up the wrong tree!
  21. Has he been there for years? I thought he was one of the players they got from Queens Park and used a loophole to avoid paying a development fee.
  22. Ross County and Thistle have shown that a reasonably short run of form can make a huge difference in league position. I think their games have been against the teams around them so it should be possible for any of the teams - that's the challenge we have to set ourselves.
  23. On the other hand, the pack has consolidated rather than moving away from us and we now have games in hand.
  24. It depends if there's other games being called off or if they stand out for being the only one. I caught a bit of the news yesterday and it was talking about potential flooding in Cumbria but saying that the worst of the rain and most of the flood warnings was for Tayside. I appreciate that the postponement may suit United on the playing side but this will hit the club hard financially today. I'm sure they would have been trying to get this on but would have been up against it with the amount of rain.
