We were saying the exact same on the way back on Tuesday night. He is such an important part of the team that we would need to have time to bring in a replacement before the end of the window. My fear is the club receives a late offer they feel they have to take but we're left looking at the players who didn't manage to find a club (often for good reasons ).

He doesn't have the pace to run at a team from the half way line the way Marvin can. Unfortunately on Saturday he was getting the ball in his own half or around the half way line most of the time so when he did beat players he would get caught up again or run into more players. With more game time we'll hopefully see Thomas get more possession around the box to see what he can do with it. My one concern at the moment is that players will learn they can stand off him and then out muscle him.

I see what you mean now. The words "other than" and the various commas really leave it open to interpretation - badly worded, as you say. A few brackets in there could have made all the difference.

I didn't know you could play trialists in league games at the end of the season and even the play-offs. I suppose there aren't many out of contract players going around at that stage of the season for it to make much difference.

I was not convinced by Ripley at the start of the season and he made a few mistakes that some of our previous goalkeepers would have been slaughtered for but he came onto a game and did well for us in the second half of the season. I found Erwin a very frustrating player to watch when he broke through but he offered something different at a time when we were fighting relegation. At times he was clumsy looking with a poor touch, at others he was able to run at players and his quick change in direction got us some important goals. Disappointing in the air for his size but he certainly has potential and I'd like to see him do well. I'd agree with almost of all of the comments on Law. Gives his all, doesn't hide but was a bit lacking and we needed a better right back. Don't really know anything about Robinson but Stephen Craigan did say he was our best signing (in a period of many signings).

It certainly sounds as though it's all been done amicably and the option is there if it suits both parties. He's said he really wanted to go so there was not point in keeping an unhappy player, we've got some compensation and he may be able to return. Sensible business all round (although I'd prefer him to be staying).
