  1. I take it that's Malky McCormick as well. Finishes off with an anti-sectarian comment which I think would have been quite unusual in those days.
  2. Yes. Bob Malcolm got himself sent off in the first half as well.
  3. Whit??!! Are you taking the piss?
  4. I can remember Samson letting in one goal where he should have done better and a few games where he has kept us at bay with some cracking saves but most of the time he's just done what you'd be looking for him to do without doing anything spectacular. I've not seen him that many times so I could be wrong but he seems an average to decent keeper and I'm not sure Ripley rates any higher than that. He had a good game against Dundee though and I like the way he was reading the game and coming out for through balls.
  5. I liked Dornan as well and there was no shame in being an Aberdeen 'reject' in 1983 when they were regularly winning silverware and impressing in Europe. He was nowhere near their level at that time but was pretty tidy for us. Harrow was much more limited but had his moments - a lob from wide against Hibs springs to mind.
  6. That's the way I remember it and could quite happily have carried on without being reminded off it. It's right up there in terms of the most pissed off I've been at the football. The attempted sub was, to be honest, much ado about nothing and didn't affect play.
  7. The strange thing about the Inverurie game was it was snowing heavily in the central belt when we left. Considering all the previous call-offs, we thought it was only a matter of time before we heard it was off again but it cleared up before Dundee and was fine from there on. It was unbelievably cold at the game though.
  8. Can you imagine the mock outrage if we put a comment like that on the front of our programme these days?
  9. Ah well, me and my mate made a day of it as planned albeit without the match. Started in the same pub on Great Western Road as originally intended, good day out and we didn't lose - I'll take that!
  10. I always wondered about that as it can skew the percentages. Why not just use the "show votes" option?
  11. Did we score first that day before being absolutely hammered? I remember being up the back of the incredibly steep terracing.
  12. I think that's because ICT's style of play is based on first touch or touch and go passing rather than dwelling on the ball. Again, possibly showing our style of play didn't particularly suit him although injuries prevented us from seeing the best of him. Other than a wonderful goal (which we know he's capable of) I though he had a pretty quiet game and I'm not sure he'd be starting if it wasn't for their injury problems.
  13. I did wonder about that. Watching the highlights I thought it looked as though he had booked him and wondered if he had actually booked him three times or if the booking for the challenge in the centre circle (which I thought was ok) was for someone else.Watching again it appears his hand is up to indicate handball and he isn't showing a card as I first thought.
  14. I honestly thought Mcdonald provided all our link up play up front and was behind most of our moves, which were well worked at times and looked as though they had been working on it in training. Our linking noticeably disappeared when he went off and we posed little threat after that.
  15. Watching the game from the Cooper Stand I felt at the time it should never have been a penalty. The ball was headed back towards McManus from a couple of feet away and it hit his hand. Not only was it at point blank range, he had his back to the player and didn't see the ball coming towards him, never mind move his hand in the direction of the ball. There is no way that should be construed as deliberate handball and the highlights only confirmed that for me. Thomson's probably got the re-take decision right though. Watching the highlights, McManus's second booking looks very soft and a nothing incident, certainly I couldn't see a swinging elbow. I thought his first booking was for the challenge in the centre circle midway through the second half where the Motherwell player looked as though he won the ball as I hadn't appreciated he got booked for the penalty. Was that Kennedy's booking? I thought we played some decent stuff at times but, as with last week, decision making and the final ball is letting us down. We've certainly played a lot worse this season and at least the forwards now look as though they've met each other before which didn't look the case earlier in the season. I thought all our link up play went through McDonald and we missed that badly when he went off with us back to playing as individuals. Also, what the hell was going on when it looked as though Jake Taylor was about to come on? I didn't think we deserved the win last week or the defeat this one so 3 points from the two games is better than the two draws we probably merited.

Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh both get good media coverage, certainly on tv, radio and in the broadsheets. I looked into taking my son a few weeks ago and was surprised at the cost - more than most premiership games.

One of my mates works on the editing for Alba - I'll need to ask him how he manages it when he doesn't have a clue what they're saying.!
  18. Our club and national teams can't come close to matching other teams around Europe. By the logic of that article we should just give up on football until we can play it as well as them.
  19. Is the Paul Smith in the 83 squad the same one who played up front with Andy Walker in the mid 80's? I always thought he was older but everyone was old to me at that point.
  20. Bollocks! Completely forgot to post my predictions this weekend despite the reminder on here. That's not helped my ranking.
  21. Ramsay came into the team at the same time as Lasley and I remember thinking he looked a much better prospect than Keith. Shows what I know!
  22. That rings a bell now you mention it. Were St. Mirren offering less than they ended up paying?
