  1. Yes, I thought it was Dundee United he was lined up to go to. I thought it was reported the club had accepted a £400k bid but he didn't want to go there as he wanted to go to St. Mirren as he supported them and the club were miffed as they were only offering £275k. We had to accept the lower fee as he had his heart set on going there. Somebody mentioned Greg Denham and his horror show against Ayr - he was one I really had high hopes for until then.
  2. I thought we won the re-scheduled match with Nevin scoring a late winner but I could well be thinking of a different game.

    Baraclough Out

I think Butcher is still respected for his playing career and that counts in his favour. Baraclough doesn't have that advantage.
  4. I don't think he picked the tools up again when he went to Aberdeen.

    Celtic

I've just watched the highlights and am now aware of that! During the game I was blissfully unaware of how blatant the penalty claims were as I was about 100 yards away.

    Kennedy again for me.
  7. Yeah, finished 2-2. I think I read McLean sold him on because he refused to go full time as he had a good job in the motor trade. I saw him a few years ago and he was manager of Arnold Clark VW in Crow Road.
  8. I'm sure those two goals were in the first ten minutes as well. I think he made his debut in the preceding midweek game at Celtic and I was all excited because he hit the bar - you can imagine what I felt like after the Dundee game.
  9. The media went crazy about Faddy's performance against Celtic mainly because they hadn't seen him play before. The performance that stood out for me was the Dundee game at Fir Park shortly after he had broken into the team. He was absolutely unplayable and some of his his flicks and tricks were incredible.
  10. I can't see him being able to get Moult to control a ball so think it's more likely he'll make something out of Fletcher. I'm concerned that he sees a midfielder in Laing but think he might manage to bring on Chalmers.
  11. I'd be quite happy if the Morton game ends up as our most important game of the season.
  12. Yeah you're right - for some reason I reason I thought it had a barcode but I've checked and it doesn't. Strange, I'm sure some of the previous games have had electronic tickets.
  13. That seems strange as it's an electronic ticket that gets scanned as you go through the turnstile - I would have thought the scan would pick up that the ticket was for the wrong section. While there were Poles dotted around the stadium they did have a whole section at the junction of the east end and the main stand. I can only imagine this area was released late or their fans' websites were suggesting they applied for these tickets because otherwise it would seem unusual for them to be all together. They did have an incredible amount of flares and bangers (if that's the right term) so they obviously weren't be searched and it did put into perspective the over-reaction in the media here to the occasional smoke pellet. Was Chic Young wetting his pants in the same way he did for our recent game at Greenock and the one a few years ago in Paisley where he gave the impression there were full scale riots happening? Scotland fans have been doing similar for years in terms of tickets. I was fortunate enough to be at the game in Paris when Faddy scored and there were about 25-30,000 Scots there because the tickets were sold through a ticketing website who didn't care where they shipped the tickets to as long as they got their money.
  14. I can see the logic in some of the points being made for the appointment of McGhee but then I remember the whole will he / won't he of him getting on the plane to see Romanov and the night spent looking at this website for updates. Perhaps someone could post a link to that thread to remind people how annoying the whole episode was. After that the public courting of the Celtic job and later move to Aberdeen were just icing on the cake. Everyone moves on to another job but the way he went about it left a bad taste in the mouth and I'd be very surprised if we appointed him again.
  15. And a certain Carol Smillie represented Dundee. I wonder what happened to her!
  16. Was our support in the end section of the main stand?
  17. Does Helensburgh actually have a castle? (I hope I'm thinking of the same song here or I'm going to look pretty daft). I know some of the American 'soccer' doesn't have a great reputation but neither does Scottish football and McFadden had obviously failed to get a club here. I'd be surprised if he can pick up a team over there.
  18. I've no great feelings either way on Calderwood (we are talking Jimmy here and not Colin?) but contracts can work both ways. An initial contract until the end of the season would maybe let someone steady the ship and let the club take stock.
  19. He was replying to a post made the day before his so it wasn't really out of the blue.
  20. No idea but there were a good few who had all the gear but didn't fancy the fighting and hung about at the back. I have to admit, I didn't do the gear or the fighting but I did have a Pringle jumper because my mum thought they looked smart.
  21. I thought Kennedy did ok and was certainly an improvement on Laing.
  22. Accies laid a new surface over the summer and it's supposed to be a big improvement. I thought their pitch last season didn't run true and was horrendous but that would probably have come across as sour grapes considering our record there. It must have been a big advantage for Accies as they were used to it but simple things like passing and shooting along the ground to take out the bounce can make a huge difference.
  23. If Ripley is leaving in January then we are only paying wages to a third keeper for three and a half months. I would also be amazed if we're having to pay much for someone who was out of work.
  24. Ah, so it's not just me then. I'm still waiting to see what he can do that Dan can't. I hope to be proved wrong but my feeling so far is that they are of a similar standard.
  25. Would also suggest we're not having to pay a a lot of money and that Dan is really not rated by the manager.
