Hard to judge with only the mixlr commentary to go by, but it sounded like we had most of the game and couldn't create any decent chances, instead went for hitting as many crosses as we could. Newell seemed to do well when he came on, and sounded like the persistent kind of forward we all like. Also good to see rose get the full game, and moult stretched out to 60 minutes. Not sure why we put mchugh at the back, hopefully just a way to get rose into a game. Really want Fisher to score soon, it seems that his timing/anticipation isn't up to scratch yet, which is disappointing as I thought he'd be the guy to hit the ground running after his finish to last season. Oh, and I feel that Frear and Tait could be our top assist providers this year, and I fancy them both to get a few goals each too.

Can we sign him just for the rangers game?

I thought it was cos of the wrestler too, but wrestling is my thing.

That's the best we're going to get, if he performs to the level we expect he prob won't even be here next season. However, depending on the situation we have an opportunity to offer him another deal next summer while he still has a year to go.

The only people I can think we may be talking to are moult, heneghan, and maybe Cadden. Everyone else is either new or hammell and McManus.

New 2-year deal for mchugh http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2017/07/26/mchugh-pens-contract-extension/

From the highlights so far this season it looks like the inter play between Cadden, tanner and Bigi could be fun to watch this year. Especially since their understanding is still developing. It is also encouraging that we have decent options on the bench, both as cover and for tactical switches. There is a definite change in the style of play from last year, in that we seem to have one, and from what I've seen it is more patient and focused on keeping the ball down. Some of the play is reminiscent of how I've seen the u20s play in the last couple of years. Now, there's the usual caveat of lower opposition, etc. but I'm more positive than I was this time last year, so that must count for something? Realistically fighting for 6th is probably the best we'll do, but I'll take hat for now.

Robinson raving about tanner in his post match interview

A clip of the free kick is doing the rounds on Twitter, it was hardly a "sclaff"
-
There's that, and there's folk tweeting at moult to stay. Twitter is bad.

Clay was simply out of his depth, and looks like one of those players who are what they are and won't improve. Was a poor signing by McGhee, but that wasn't his fault, seemed a decent enough guy, I hope the orient fans like his scooby doo impression.

My recollection is that resch had a run in the team and doerner barely featured. He was still shite though and had a shitey leather jacket. Just checked - Dorner had 2 games, resch had 3. Both left us for darlington and did better there.

The first half performance was rusty and nothing else. Our opponents scored from a set play and did bugger all else. We weren't good, but it was far from the type of performance that deserves boos.

Fisher could have had a couple if he was sharper, as he was slightly out of position a couple of times for some good deliveries and was slow to react. His setup for the first goal was class. Bigirimana looks like he can play a pass, but was also behind the pace (as maybe expected) and as the game went on mchugh played some excellent balls forward too. Frear was rusty, as a few times he waited until he was doubled up on then couldnt do much, and on the other side tanner was pretty anonymous but for the goal (which was a nice bit of play). One thing to take into account is that they parked the bus, which can nullify the effectiveness of wingers. Kipre looks solid enough, and hammell is hammell, but Ben looked comparitively shaky and was overpowered a couple of times. I would share the sentiment that a back 3 is not the way to go, and if nothing else, maybe playing at right back will allow tait to stay onside! I'm starting to really like bowman, both of his goals were well taken, got good feet for a big man

As a spokesman for the club he's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing, which is to say that we won't be selling unless there is a serious offer.

Moult's interview on MFC TV today
-
Jeez, looks like they're going down too
-
He said frear, moult and Cadden, so my assumption was that he meant frear and Cadden on the wings and moult up front, hopefully with someone next to him.
-
Robinson alluding to some folk not quite being up to scratch (fitness wise at least) and gave bowman his dues for scoring 4 in 4. Also mentioned possibly another signing by Monday.
-
There's also the chance that the player didn't want more than a year either.
-
He's been with us for a couple of weeks, so it's clear the manager sees something in him. we really need competition in that area, as at the moment Ben, tait, and mick pretty much know their name is on the teamsheet. I'm eagerly awaiting the first departure from the club just to find out who Robinson apparently hates
-
Robinson said it was an op in one of his recent interviews. Edit- although I can't find it, so maybe I dreamt it. Pretty sure he said something like moult had an op a few weeks back, just started training, and the aim is to have him ready for the rangers game.
-
Going by the managers interviews so far there's nothing to suggest McManus is one of those he wants out. We need 4 starting defenders and at least 3 backups. The possibility of dunne and kipre being able to play central and at full back is good for versatility, both for cover and switching from a 4 to a 3. Then considering Mick's age/fitness and the possibility of losing heneghan, another centerback is a must. Looking at younger players, I could see Thomas and Watt going, mainly due to who we've signed.

He doesn't mince his words does he? "players we need to get out of the club" I'd assume we're still talking at least Blyth and clay. Bowman does offer something, and I don't think we have any forwards knocking on the door from the u20s, so I'd expect us to have 4 in that area. I guess we're not going for tuton then?
