  1. agreed! for me, Elgin away! Arbroath away! or another ground I havent been too however - this should see us into the next round
  2. so would i - but only because Clancy is suspended you could then argue that Page will miss out
  3. i dont think Carswell should be too concerned - he still plays with the U19s. But Forbes doesnt appear to be pushing into the squad, and I have to admit, by this time(22 going on 23) - I thought he would have had more games under his belt. As above - for the sake of his own career, I think he may move. Yes, Hughes is only here for 6 weeks - but for that period, one of them is going to have to drop out the squad altogether I would love to be proved wrong and for him to score a screamer at Sheepyville on sat (he does have it in him)
  4. as it says on the tin! so with Shug signing, he'll at least be on the bench - so who loses out? for me its between the two mentioned - I've always tried to defend Forbes, as I do believe he is one of the most technnically gifted players at the club BUT he has no engine and wants too many touches on the ball. I think Inverness away was the last straw for me. Carswell has impressed any time he has played, but yet still young and we know how those young ones go if theres too much pressure. If I was Forbes - I would be looking for a new team in January. Surely he wants to play every week? And surely he must think he's good enough for a Falkirk, Thistle, County, Accies, Dundee? Thoughts?
  5. good question......and what does "til January" mean? end of December? so he is free to walk out 1st January? or the end of January? if its until Dec 31st, we have 7 games between now and then - is that realistic time frame to see how he fits in plus get game time and prove his match fitness? or are we only offering him buttons, therefore he's happy to accept that money for 7/8 weeks, putting himself in the shop window - but come January he'll be looking for more? or a move away? are we likely to sell anyone in January that will help finance a longer deal? i think its a good deal for us overall, if he plays, the team will need to change slightly and i dont think thats a bad thing - we have become far too one dimensional, teams know how wea re going to line up and play, so having options cant be a bad thing
  6. totally agree with hippo £3.50 for a hot dog - bargain!!!!!!!!! it seems to me that folk have got together, to come up with suggestions to improve the match day experience - but are totally over-thinking ideas. Think simple, get it right and get good at it. We dont need new mascots - how much would this cost to design the mascot you were thinking about? Instead of spending (i presume) thousands, buy face paints, colouring books, cheap MFC autograph books........get Claret and Amber to do some overtime and get them in the Cooper for it opening, make one of the unused boxes a kids club? Does it really cost that much money to print off photographs of the players and every week, get one of the to make an appearance *pre-match and hand out FREE signed photos? I understand they have a warm up to do, pre match tactics blah blah - but if they are there earlier enough, its possible. Some folk could say that the players "free-time", but we only play "18" home games every season, so you are asking them to do it once a season as hippo says KIDS WANT TO FEEL PART OF IT and Dee's idea above is top notch, get the cheer leaders on pre-match, if you have to have them at all, and let the kids play on the park at half time on a fun4s game(and i dont mean the offical MFC under whatever - i mean the ones that are in the stand)
  7. you sure about that? a large amount of people seemed to think he was quicker and more mobile than John Sutton
  8. surprised this survey isnt on MFC TV - everything else is on there these days
  9. POD v Cooper...........theres not going to be a winner. Some folk suggest, keeping them in the ground for 10 mins after the final whistle - wont work as it takes longer to let all well fans out the East - so that means you'd need to keep them in for more than 20mins. And no doubt, they would complain that home fans are allowed to leave the POD, when they need to stay in. It would make better sense to give them the Cooper - means all fans are separated and would be easier to contain - but then I totally understand where Cooper ST holders are coming from - we've already said no to that one. The club are NOT going to cut their allocation when we cant fill our own sections - we'd lose too much money - and thats what it boils down to. Why dont we give them the East Stand? (thats where I sit) Its old, its shit and by putting them in here - it will take them ages to get out therefore all MFC fans will be long gone before they come out. (Nah, didnt think that one would go down well!) Or by last resort, why dont the club offer free tickets to these games to all current/former/ex/retired SS hooligans? and put them in the main stand. That way, something is likely to kick off and the police will never let opposing fans in the same stand again? We had to fight for our patch before - it may have to come to that again
  10. thats fair point.............and i do agree they do deserve credit for playing well and battling away y'day. Having been to every game this season (apart from Hibs away) and following some of the players on twitter, I think the players know fine well the majority of the fans are supportive and without fail every week on twitter, they make appreciative comments of the backing they are getting its just a shame the East Stand is past its best - but thats a different argument
  11. you talk a power of shite have you ever played football in your life? or were you the wee guy who was always left to the end cos noobody wanted you in their team
  12. Dave - you may not finds that every one of them is a trouble maker, but every one of them does smell - so take a bar of soap with you next time and either - throw it at them ask them if they recognise it gesture at them for being soap dodging ............... or shove it up their....... On a serious note, i dont think the club will be too accomodating for you, we need the money and they have no where else to go. I think the club may well be apologetic towards you, but its never going to lead any where. Money talks. Even after the trouble of Skippy Sunday - nothing has changed
  13. David - i presume you refer to everyone in the East Stand.......when its the most populated "home" stand, why do we only have one exit? the POD and Cooper are empty nearly instantly, yet the East takes about 15mins people cant be arsed with that, hence the reason why the area at the stairs is so populated for the last ten minutes of a game. People are happy to stand there and watch the remaining minutes. after 90mins, loads of folk walk down to the bottom of the east stand and walk along there rather than the top - why are we not allowed to cross a 2m strecth of gravel and exit through the Cooper? too dangerous? what is dangerous is trying to exit the East Stand - it turns into a bottle neck and it becomes even worse when the snow/ice comes in and the exit stairs are exposed to the elements
  14. no mate..........the name is a piss take, nothing else!

  15. what the f**k do people actually want from Michael Higdon?? for all the moaners, what do you seriously expect? according to this he has scored a 1/3 of our total goals this season - is that not enough? playing up front on his OWN is not an easy job, and it continues to be harder if players either do not play to his strengths or do not get up to support him. he isnt Rooney, he isnt Drogba, he isnt Aguerro...........he is what he is. Support him and the team - we're 2nd in the league FFS!
  16. not a very good argument the reason it worked for them is that people left the Wirral to go to Anfield or Goodison on a Saturday ok, people leave Motherwell to go to Parkhead or Ibrox - but those people wont come and support Motherwell. If Accies moved to a Friday night - would you go and support them?
  17. peter - i agree with you here, but the problem is not how we play - its where we play! the east stand boo boys take the shine off the team, whereas when we are away from home the vast majority of the fans are vocal in being supportive of the team - the same can not be said at Fir Park. there weren't many of us in Inverness - but the ones who were there made some noise, supported the team and the players recognised this so no doubt, someone will say "i pay my money, i can voice my opinion" - well, aye you can............but "positively supporting" our team makes a difference
  18. whats the latest with Hammell? their best player by far this season is James Forrest. DEWELL, i nearly agreee with your above post until you laid into Higdon. Poor! I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one! IMO, Celtic NEED to win - the pressure is on them. Even more so, if Rangers win on the Saturday. I would love us to get something from this game, but i'm in MJC mood. I fear a backlash. We haven't played well recently, but have ground out results - (obviously a sign of champions!!) Killie went at Celtic and scored, Hibs had a go and scored........why dont we have a go??? If the past is anything to go by, McCall will change the formation and that frustrates me! Just have a go - if we get beat, then so be it - its what most of us expect anyway. For me, the worst thing about ICT game was McCall reshuffling the defence.......we immediately looked better when Hateley went to RB. I really hope Hammell is fit.....and he has to choose between Hutchy and Clancy, but please do not move Hateley into midfield to accomodate them both
  19. where is the official statement that there is an alcohol ban on this train?? what if I dont read the official MFC website? is there anything on Scotrail or BTP websites? hypothetically, what if I was a random guy going on this train, with no connection to Motherwell FC, and wanted a beer? How would I know there was a ban in place?
  20. you can sing as loud as you want - we still wont be able to hear you!!!
  21. there's not many on here................but Al B talks sense obviously has a "football" brain
  22. surely a descrimination case here!! lol on any other train going to any other part of scotland, you can have a drink - but on the 1011 train you cant!! Unbelievable! the teenage carry out days will need to come back...........filling up bottles of coke and lemonade!!!!! VIVA Motherwell!!!!
  23. thank god....................i thought I was watching a different team from everyone else just because Lasley doesn't have the same goal ratio as Frank Lampard doesn't mean he is an "anchor player" our problem is that we don't shoot at goal. you don't shoot, you don't score. we try to over play it like Arsenal sometimes!!! however, there have been a few occasions this season when we've tried to get a shot away, that its been blocked and we've been done on the counter attack.. playing Killie last week, Harkins played in the hole off Heffernan................notice "off", not 100 yards away. As much as I like Murphy and Law, none of them do what he did when they are meant to be playing in that position. Harkins was my MOTM last week - not the paciest of players, but has clever feet, confidence in his own ability and is able to always find space. Its hard to criticise the team when we are in this lofty position - but I do think signing Hughes would be a great deal. If he's here, he's living in Motherwell - surely getting something is better than nothing when you are going to FP every day anyway!! I think he would improve the first team - and i think it would give us different options and better competition for places (however I would feel for Forbes and Carswell who have done everything right this season when called upon) sign him up please
